I think there’s a distinction to be made between ‘Louis wants people to believe Freddie is his’ and ‘Louis wants people to believe he thinks Freddie is his’. Imo the latter is what he is trying to do. (Note: he probably knows some Larries will never change their minds, and he probably loves that, so this is aimed at mostly twitter and tiktok).

What makes me believe he doesn’t want people to actually think Freddie is his, is the lack of father-son connection. There’s no footage of Freddie hugging Louis. There’s no footage of them playing together. There’s no footage of Freddie on vacation with Louis. There’s not even footage of Freddie calling Louis dad. Just a quick look at the pics in my phone of my son with his dad shows me so much that is lacking. If I know this, his team and him also know this. If they were in this for the long run and they really wanted to convince people, they could do more.

What they have been doing the last year is bare (!) minimum. Just place them together in a few situations and everyone is reminded that ‘Louis Tomlinson has a son’. Where is the affection though? Even Louis’s sisters have been pictured playing and hugging Freddie. Louis has been pictured holding other kids more closely than Freddie. This is deliberate I think. He only wants to do bare minimum. For his own sake, but also for Freddie’s sake maybe.

By only doing bare minimum some fans will believe (just because Louis is pictured with Freddie) that he makes an attempt to be there for his kid. The lack of familiarity and closeness will always leave room for doubt though. Closeness and familiarity are to be expected when ‘your son is your world’. So even though his words tell us one thing, his actions never follow and will show a lack of connection.
