Honestly Yuki did not know what to expect for the evening they were going to endure with one another. She was to be surrounded by hundreds of other aristocratic vampires, and even the oh so famous and rare pure bloods like herself. The whole thing truly made her nervous to the point where her palms began to sweat slightly. She quickly rubbed them against the fabric of her dress. This wasn’t appropriate, not for her who shared the same blood as Kaname to be acting. She knew that she needed to get it together, act calm. Breathe.

Mahogany orbs widened as the proposal passed his lips. Perhaps something good after all would come after that dreaded soiree. Being confined for so long made her desire for the outside only grow stronger as the days went by. “That sounds wonderful actually, big brother Kaname. She didn’t dare ask what sort of business he had in those parts. It wasn’t any of her business, and she doubted he would tell her regardless.
“I’ll happily join you.” She gently reached out her hand to place it in his own. As Yuki watched their warmth mingle between their palms, she observed the size difference between them. Kaname was so large, so protecting, and so very loving. She couldn’t ever dare leave his side. They were destined to live out their days together.
“I love you, brother.” Yuki blushed softly at the small confession, though it was normal for them to do so, there would still be times where it truly did make her feel shy on the inside.
Yuki brought herself up from the chair, tilting her head to the side slightly. “Where should we start then? I don’t know what you exactly have picked out for this evening for my attire, or my hair for that matter. I was thinking it could be somewhat down. I feel as though it hides my childish face, don’t you think?”
Image
The Pureblood gave his sister a sincere smile, noticing how the offer seemed to brighten her slightly. Even though the comment of her childishness made him flinch slightly. She didn't look that young, and in many cases they royal couple could use that to their advantages. "I think most of it being up would look flattering with the dress I have in mind, if you're willing of course."

He could help but phrase things like she had a choice, as if he wasn't practically manipulating her however he pleased. This poor girl thought that he loved her as she'd loved Kiryuu.

The truth was that he was far worse than anything she could ever have had nightmares about. Too selfish.

Kaname held his hand out for his sister, a kind smile on his face, imagining her already in the light lilac of the dress he'd put on a bodice stand in her room earlier that morning. It was one of his favourite colours and he couldn't help smile seeing the girl before him wearing the shade.

"How about we simply try and get through tonight without having to clean up any ashes." It was as much a warning to himself as it was to Yuuki, Kaname knew that many aristocrats would be there, many nobles who would all try for flirting with the both of them. It was Kaname's job to dissern who had the highest barganing chip for either of their hands.

Image

The Pureblood lead Yuuki back to her room, showing her the flowing dress designed not to show off too much of a figure but still look flattering, a dress for a young woman, yet not a child. He always found it hard to choose clothes for the princess, always something delicate though.

He had a suit prepared in his own rooms, less frills than normal and more modern. Kaname wanted to do his best to lead the vampire society into the modern age; no more dresses and tiaras like they were ancient royalty. He was tired of remembering the past and living in the past, there were far too many horrible memories in the past.

"Do you like the dress? There are another two you can try if you don't approve." Despite his thoughts on her place with him, he wanted her to be at least minutely comfortable since he knew she hated those shoes.

He’s distracted from his wanderings by a voice calling his name, seafoam hues blinking and his head turning toward the voice in question. Pale lips part slightly with his surprise, form freezing in the middle of the crowd once he can properly see ahead of him.
“Kaname…..”

The vampire smiled at Riku, deep down he was overjoyed to see the silver haired male after so long. It had felt like eons since he'd seen bright green eyes and light hair, the young man a shining light in the Darkness Kaname knew.

"Riku... how have you been?" Moving towards the other, Kaname could only hope that Riku didn't hate him for vanishing for... months? Had it been months? He honestly wasn't sure.

Her son’s too precious. How did I end up with a son like him, she thought. “I don’t know how your father did it but he came back with a smile still on his face.” To this day, Haruka’s constant smile still infuriates her. “Have you asked your father for advice? This is more of his department than mine.” A constant movement of her fingers still raking through his hair, just like my annoying curls. “What’s the boring topic they’re discussing this week?”
Image

He sighed lightly, still trying to smile despite his desire to crawl back into the ground. "They're discussing opening more schools-- all vampire schools. Like some type of ellietest group for the young vampires. However, they want to restrict it to born vampires and nobles only." His voice was so dull, he thought the school was an idiodic farce and a slap in the face to the ideals of Cross Academy.

Kaname turned his eyes up to Juuri and looked into those matching brown orbs. "I wouldn't want to impose on him. Isn't he enjoying his time away from polotics?"

Even though the princess just awakened a few months ago, she was still trying her very best to fit into that little mold that Kaname expected her to be in. Deep down, Yuki honestly hated being here. She was kept once again, trapped like a bird in a cage. She wanted to be free. Get rid of these silly dresses with frills, run around like she used to.Be able to Zero again.. But if it was for the elder, Yuki would truly do anything to make him happy. After all that he went through, it was like she owed him something. She did love him, more than anything. If it meant having to put up with things she hated the most, then so be it. Yuki gave out a sigh as she continued the rest of her problems Hanbusa had given her. Surely just a little more, and she would be done. Yet these were not the only plans for the day.
Image
Once the sun set down and dusk would be upon them, the soiree was to start. Yuki was still getting used to the idea of her being completely surrounded by so many vampires, she didn’t know what to expect. Would they look down upon her, or see her as an elegant pure blood princess? Her thoughts interrupted once she heard Kaname come close to the study. “Big brother Kaname.” She spoke softly, “I’ve finished my lessons for the day.” She forced that fake smile upon her face. “I assume it’s time to get ready now?” Though truthfully, she wasn’t sure what he had in mind for her this evening. Yuki wasn’t exactly too feminine. Kaname would have to pick out her dress for the evening, and do something with those long locks of raven colored hair.
Image
The Pureblood paused, his mind moving away from the awray of dresses he was picturing the young woman wearing. Hopefully something elegant yet still breathable for the young woman not used to such finery. Poor Yuuki would probably like something not too tight, and it's not like he wanted men ogling any more than they already would-- he'd have to stick close to her all night.

Leaning against the doorframe, Kaname looked the princess up and down, taking in the fake smile-- like she expected him not to notice. And it made his emotions begin to war inside him. The need to make Yuuki his own, to control everything about her, and the almost paternal feeling he had for the only living Kuran other than himself.

Image

"Yes, I wanted to give us both enough time to prepare." It was the truth, Kaname knew that it would take him quite a while to do his sistes hair,to do her makeup to a degree he deemed acceptable. So many men and women would be vying for her attention, and Kaname had every intension of them knowing they needed his approval to speak with the princess.

It was possibly his worst complex; control over those he loves and cares for. Possibly for no other reason than the last time he allowed a loved one to do as she wished, she threw her heart into a frnace.

Image

Licking his lips to wet them, Kaname pushed away from the door and walked into the room, offering Yuuki his hand. "Yuuki, would you like to come with me to London tomorrow? I have bisuness, and it would be nice to get away for a few days." He knew that it was hard for her to be so cooped up, but if tonight went well, he would feel better about letting her out into the world once more.

"Depending how tonight goes, I would really like to spend sometime out with you, enjoying eternity a little more." His voice as honest as he could manage.

The Ancestor couldn't help the small groan as he pushed up from his desk, eyes screwing shut because there were still scripted words and numbers swimming in his vision. However, the vampire knew that Yuuki would be done her stdies soon, and they were being expected at a sioree within a few hours-- one of the first his dear sister would be allowed to attend.

Image

The Pureblood felt some sort of obligation, to honour old traditions like sioree's and balls despite the vast change in popular culture. If there was one thing he'd noticed about vampires; they tend to get stuck in the past rather easily.

Travelling through halls without windows had become the norm, and the new Vampire King was more than pleased when he peered into the study room to see the young princess with her head bowed over a thousand year old tome.

She brushes her fingers through his hair, “Why my dear? Is it too tiring? Not amusing enough?” The council would more likely prefer her husband than her, “I would take over but those geezers would prefer your dad than me.”
Image

A smile crossed his face at the hands in his hair, eyes opening slightly to look into matching pools of maroon. "Of course they would rather have Father, I simply feel like the both of you deserve a break." His smile wide at the thought. "I'll agree with you though. It isn't nearly amusing enough."

He knew he had no right to come to the pureblood after everything he had done in the name of Sara, but he felt compelled to. He had spent so much of his life with the brunet at his side, growing up with the man and being his loyal companion. Yet that was a time long ago that seemed so distant to Takuma since he fell into that woman’s clutches.
Image
“Because…” He hesitated, lowering his eyes in the intimidating presence of Kaname. “Because I needed to apologize to you for everything.”

This was an uncommon occurance for the Pureblood, he honestly idn't think he'd ever see Ichijo returning to appologise. He had, after all, chosen which side he wanted to be part of.

Image

Standing from his desk chair, Kaname wasn't about to give Takuma any sort of higher ground that himself. It's something he simply can't allow the noble to have. "Ichijo. I don't know if I can accept an apology outright forth with."

As much as he wanted his friend back, he was more than weary of him.

Avatar

Maroon eyes froze, every muscle within the Purebloods body seemed to freeze as he noticed the figure standing in the doorway. Almost at a loss for words on what to say to the other, Kaname dipped his head, aknowledging him but also wary.

They hadn't left on friendly terms.

Image

Keeping Takuma in his peripheral at the least, Kaname stood from his position, not bothering to smooth the front of his suit. "Ichijo, what brings you?"

the opaque-blue soul was warm sliding down his throat, the gelatinous surface tasteless but satisfying. the whole of them couldn’t be shoveled down quick enough. one soul hadn’t emerged from the freshly dead corpse of its vessel, && losing patience Asura plunged his slick red fingers into the fatal gash splitting its back down the middle && yanked the soul from the ribcage, spurting blood across his cheek, not bothering to cleanse it of blood before it was devoured.      blood trickled down from the blackened tongue as it rasped over the last glossy blue sphere. this was punishment for denying himself food for months. so wrong, so wrong he’d been convincing himself he could suppress his hunger for as long as the vampire could. his fasting broke so spectacularly-!         even gods were wrong sometimes

I hope they weren’t important to you, Kuran…    ”     he’d anticipated the creak of the doors even before they swung open, sensing the vampiric soul as he had. standing upright with an unnerving concavity of the spine, the widening beam of light streaming in crossed grimacing bloodstained features.

The Vampires red eyes shon through the thick darkness encasing the room. He knew the God was there, could feel that horrible pulsating throb of ancient power-- even though it may not be as ancient as his own. Kaname still found it almost enearing that the God was trying to abstain like him. The Kuran had never been a role model to a God before.

Kuran hadn't been close to another in a long time, and this God was likely the only person Kaname felt a semi-deep connection with for the simple fact that he understood the curse of time. It was for this fact alone that Kaname couldn't help the grin that crossed his face at the qestion posed to him; it was someone who worked for him, nothing more.

Image

"No, not important in the slightest. Would you like another?" The smug satisfaction in the Ancients voice was practically palpable, so pleased that the God had crumbled before him. "I can get you another old soul if you want, I'm sure they taste better to a connoisseur such as yourself?"

Walking further into the room, Kaname walked up to Kishin with an almost pleased smile on his face, feeling like he'd won a tiny battle. Then sitting himself down beside the God, he pushed long fingers through his hair.

Headcanon: Ai

Since waking, Kaname's emotions have been twisted in such a way that he hardly knows up from down anymore. A thousand years of death, once more with the first love of his life (the Hooded Woman) after ten thousand years spent trying to die-- to follow her where he was cursed never to go.

My other Headcanons have twisted Kaname slightly from his canon self, so allow me to give my views on Kaname and Ai's relationship that's been built with this lovely writer tagged above.

Upon first waking, Kaname was nothing but mad, an absolute shell of the King he'd once been. A man once again ripped from death by a selfish member of his family. A woman he'd learned to love in the possibly most twisted way possible. Kaname's resentment for Yuuki was virtually instantanious with him being woken once more, and to have awoken as a human was far worse.

However, that first real look past the blinding light of the sun, after so many years in the dark, in death he could see again. And the first true image past the glare of light and the butterfly leaving him was of two children-- hardly even adults to his own immortal soul. The image of those two, the two who looked so much like Yuuki and Zero, it was almost too much for the fragile heart that knew something was horribly wrong.

Image

Because of the growing relationship between Kaname and Ai (I'm only mentioning Ai in this headcanon because I have yet to find a Ren to roleplay with, sadly) he learned to lessen his hatred for Yuuki, to see her logic in wishing her daughter to know the man who helped give her life. Deep down Kaname feels as if it's a mistake to show Ai any vestiges of love he'd once shown Yuuki, constantly using her first name rather than 'Your Mother' or 'My love'. Growing somewhat cold to the woman who'd brought him back to life once again.

Kaname thought he understood the pressure of being a Kuran. He was, of course, the first Kuran; so how could he not. It wasn't until he met his daughter and saw the heavy weight she placed upon her shoulders, a weight brought on by his imposing name and nature. Ai felt as if she needed to make the Ancestor proud and that baffled the Vampire King. To have to watch this young woman who'd just lost her mother, and lost the man who'd raised her shortly before flouder for approval from the person she'd been trying to make proud.

The truth is, Kaname has nothing but pride in Ai, in the fact she is such a strong individual and has grown to be a beautiful woman in the thousand years he'd been dead.

The love he has for Ai is a connection he never thought he'd have, instant trust and love. Ai is one woman Kaname would gladly had his life over to, to protect the throne he wishes her to have, and to guide her in any way she needs.

Because of this amazing amount of headcanon I've managed because of you my dear, I'm giving you and Ai a whole verse with Kaname: {v;You are my Light in this Nightmare. My precious Princess}
