Honestly Yuki did not know what to expect for the evening they were going to endure with one another. She was to be surrounded by hundreds of other aristocratic vampires, and even the oh so famous and rare pure bloods like herself. The whole thing truly made her nervous to the point where her palms began to sweat slightly. She quickly rubbed them against the fabric of her dress. This wasn’t appropriate, not for her who shared the same blood as Kaname to be acting. She knew that she needed to get it together, act calm. Breathe.
Mahogany orbs widened as the proposal passed his lips. Perhaps something good after all would come after that dreaded soiree. Being confined for so long made her desire for the outside only grow stronger as the days went by. “That sounds wonderful actually, big brother Kaname. She didn’t dare ask what sort of business he had in those parts. It wasn’t any of her business, and she doubted he would tell her regardless.
“I’ll happily join you.” She gently reached out her hand to place it in his own. As Yuki watched their warmth mingle between their palms, she observed the size difference between them. Kaname was so large, so protecting, and so very loving. She couldn’t ever dare leave his side. They were destined to live out their days together.
“I love you, brother.” Yuki blushed softly at the small confession, though it was normal for them to do so, there would still be times where it truly did make her feel shy on the inside.
Yuki brought herself up from the chair, tilting her head to the side slightly. “Where should we start then? I don’t know what you exactly have picked out for this evening for my attire, or my hair for that matter. I was thinking it could be somewhat down. I feel as though it hides my childish face, don’t you think?”
The Pureblood gave his sister a sincere smile, noticing how the offer seemed to brighten her slightly. Even though the comment of her childishness made him flinch slightly. She didn't look that young, and in many cases they royal couple could use that to their advantages. "I think most of it being up would look flattering with the dress I have in mind, if you're willing of course."
He could help but phrase things like she had a choice, as if he wasn't practically manipulating her however he pleased. This poor girl thought that he loved her as she'd loved Kiryuu.
The truth was that he was far worse than anything she could ever have had nightmares about. Too selfish.
Kaname held his hand out for his sister, a kind smile on his face, imagining her already in the light lilac of the dress he'd put on a bodice stand in her room earlier that morning. It was one of his favourite colours and he couldn't help smile seeing the girl before him wearing the shade.
"How about we simply try and get through tonight without having to clean up any ashes." It was as much a warning to himself as it was to Yuuki, Kaname knew that many aristocrats would be there, many nobles who would all try for flirting with the both of them. It was Kaname's job to dissern who had the highest barganing chip for either of their hands.
The Pureblood lead Yuuki back to her room, showing her the flowing dress designed not to show off too much of a figure but still look flattering, a dress for a young woman, yet not a child. He always found it hard to choose clothes for the princess, always something delicate though.
He had a suit prepared in his own rooms, less frills than normal and more modern. Kaname wanted to do his best to lead the vampire society into the modern age; no more dresses and tiaras like they were ancient royalty. He was tired of remembering the past and living in the past, there were far too many horrible memories in the past.
"Do you like the dress? There are another two you can try if you don't approve." Despite his thoughts on her place with him, he wanted her to be at least minutely comfortable since he knew she hated those shoes.
