Hello!(Sorry for my english. My native language Isn't english.) I'm a new fan of The Beatles and I'm trying to learn more about McLennon. My question is that do you think Two Of Us was written for John. When I read the lyrics, I just thought he's talking about the trip to Paris with John when they were young, but I also saw someone saying it was for Linda, so I want to know what do you think.

Oh and I just wanted to said I'm so happy that I found you on Tumblr and I feel happy every time I read your blog!

Hi! Thank you so much! I’m not English either, I’m Italian so don’t worry, we all make mistakes and it’s fine! who cares :)

I do believe Two of Us is a mclennon song.

Here are some links for you:

I feel like seeing how his ex publicist published a not-so-hidden-truth fiction about Paul makes me wonder whether Paul only wants to keep everything secure from journalists when they work with him and then when he releases them, they can say any shits they want. Okay, for general Beatles fans it wont say much, but Paul and McLennon fandom themselves? :)))

Instead I think Paul creates real legal issues for these private things. If you think about it, basically every Paul’s secretary would earn a lot of money if they published a book with all the secrets about him and his private life. And he has all the right in the world to protect himself.

Why they don’t do it? First, because they respect him, even if there are some cases in which it ended badly.

Second, because, (I think) he has some legal contracts with them, and they can’t say anything or Paul will drain their bank account with legal problems until they die.

But of course you can write a fiction with no mentions about him, at that point it’s the reader who should understand what is the author writing in between the lines...

I think the “Problem” will start when Paul will die. I think that many people will reveal secrets about him.

It’s what happened with Marlon Brando too. I’m a huge fan of Brando and James Dean, I’ve read a lot of books about them and I was always sure that James Dean was, at least, bisexual, and had a relationship with Brando. Because he had an obsessive compulsive disorder regarding his relationship with Brando, Dean venerated him, he was obsessed with him. But it wasn’t a fan-actor relationship. I understood that there was more. But no book mentioned it. They always described Dean as heterosexual who loved his girlfriends.

I suddenly shouted: “I KNEW IT!”. Brando and Dean’s relationship was not a normal one, was not a mere friendship, and it was clear from the very beginning I started reading about their lives. But none dared to talk about it. I looked at different websites and forums, and someone hinted at Brando’s bisexuality, but that was it.

I believe that the same will happen when Paul will die. Someone will write a book, will confess it. I will probably be 70 years old, strolling down the street with my dog, and read the headline of a newspaper: “Lennon and McCartney’s affair”, and will raise a smile thinking about the amount of time I spent on a weird blue website writing about them.

Which three Mclennon songs you want Paul to write about in his future lyrics book?

Mine are: I don’t know (Johnny Johnny)

Here, There and Everywhere

Hey Jude

Oh! Darling

I feel like Here, There and Everywhere is much easier to not tell ‘the whole truth’ about while still not necessarily lying, whereas Oh! Darling? Oh boy, I cannot wait to see him try and get out of that one!

‘Yeah it’s about John…what, nearly dying when he left me? Nah just poetic license, being over dramatic. Calling John darling, what you don’t call your friends darling? Seriously, no homo.’

For that reason I think mine are Oh! Darling, Call Me Back Again and Calico Skies (because that song isn’t spoken about nearly half so much as it should be).

Personally I doubt he’ll talk about I Don’t Know (Johnny Johnny). So I’ll go with Oh! Darling, Dear Friend (which he’s technically kind of already admitted it’s about John but still) and No Words (just to rly prove a point though he might also not do it cause it was mostly Denny’s). Also maybe Two of Us even though he’ll definitely try to say it’s about Linda 😔

Hello! I have loved your blog for years and have thoroughly enjoyed reading your mclennon posts..I was wondering what your thoughts were about the cherry bomb incident at the Memphis coliseum in 1966..I believe there is a quote from either John or Paul saying that they were worried that the other was shot 😭

Yes I’ve read this story many times and there are various versions. According to the Beatles, it was definitely a bomb. But according to Beatles fans who attended the event, it wasn’t really a cherry bomb but a firecraker, and it wasn’t thrown on the stage but near the stairs of the stage.

I think The Beatles believed it was a bomb because they were focused on playing and singing and they saw this fire and then the explosion which happened close to the stage, and they were a bit upset, also because it was the period of the “beatles bigger than jesus” controversy with strong Anti-Beatles feelings in America, fans burning their vinyls on the streets and many protests,...so there was tension at Beatles concerts. And that firecracker might have been a consequence of that turmoil.

I remember that John revealed in an interview that when the “bomb” exploded they suddenly looked at each other to check they were fine. Some Beatles fans who have attended the concert also reported that Paul suddenly looked at John to check if he was alright.  ❤

It's from crazy days and nights that you asked sometime ago. I have since revised my opinion on that site since some of them are not true. Nowadays i take everything from that site with a ton of salt.

Same, but it’s interesting to discuss them, whether they concern John/Paul or not.
