So we have a new AU of the CoC boys where they’re all trapped in a shady laboratory run by the Masked Messenger (we haven’t settled on a name for him in this AU yet) having dubious experiments done on them. And Henry has time powers! WHY HAVE SOMEONE SEND YOU THROUGH A TIME LOOP WHEN YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF

More information under the cut!

Hello! I found about the CoC AU a week and a half ago, I read everything, and I wanted to tell you all it has become one of my favorite Bendy AUs. I really like all the personality, background, and changes you've all put into your characters! Now for the question, I wanted to ask if you have any headcanon about CoC Linda. Like how did she and Henry met, what does she do for a living, does she have any connexion with the other CoC boys, etc? Sorry if it has already been answered. Have a nice day!

Aaa thank you! I’m glad you’ve been enjoying the au!!

We don’t have a lot set in stone about Linda yet. She’s very academic and logical to match with Henry’s creativeness, and we’re leaning towards her having an interest in anthropology, tho we haven’t decided if that has progressed into a job in that field or if that’s just what she studied in college. As for how they met, she and Henry were college friends! She was friends with Joey too, and it was actually due to her advice that Henry broke up with him. There’s some lingering weirdness between her and Joey because of it, but as of recent developments they’ve been starting to slowly reconnect with each other.

As for other headcanons, these are less set in stone but:

  • She and Abby were also friends, and Boo and I have discussed the two of them being the ones to tell a young, nervous Henry that his cute new roommate Joey is, in fact, Super Gay,, I don’t know if she and Abby are still in touch but I like to think they are, at least somewhat
  • I like to think Linda is bi, but as I’ve mentioned in previous posts her and Henry’s relationship is much more of the queerplatonic variety. They both love each other deeply, to the point where it doesn’t really matter if it’s romantic or not
  • this is more Thren’s department, but I feel like Linda’s stress over Henry actually got a lot better once Henry finally told her about all the eldritch nonsense he’s been dealing with. Like, the whole world is in serious jeopardy on a frightningly regular basis and her husband is often right in the middle of it, but... at least now she actually knows, instead of just worrying and wondering what awful things must have been happening to Henry that he doesn’t even trust her with the knowledge of it.

That’s all from me I think! Thanks for the ask!

Hello! I found your blog through the Call of Cthulhu AU, and I am BLOWN AWAY by how cool everyone involved in it is. I am so thankful that you guys not only put so much care into it, but also take the time to share it with others. If you wouldn't mind, would it be possible for you to turn on the Custom Theme? It makes it so much easier for people on mobile who don't have the app to access your blog, and for people on desktop to find and filter your posts! Best wishes 💖

Aw thanks!!! I agree, the GM and my party are all awesome people, and I am SO glad to be a part of COC AU. And I'm very fond of the tiny fandom that's sprung up around it! Y'all are awesome, and I'm glad we can share this story and our excitement with you.

I am not tumblr savvy in the slightest, I don't even have the mobile app haha! So I don't know what exactly enabling custom theme does, but I've hit the button and hopefully things will work better for you anon!

Playing around with some metallic accents for magic nonsense with the CoC boys!

I've been sitting on these for awhile and excited to finally share since, with the new summary, it's no longer spoilers!!

Jack with his ghost eyes and hand scars, possibly now imbued with something more from his encounter with the Masked Messenger,

Henry with his scythe that surely definitely isn't doing anything alarming to the core of his being,

Joey who also is doing inadvisable things like demonic possession and binding magical artifacts to his?? soul??

In Which Spell That Never Worked Before Suddenly Works Season 3, Episodes 12

Warning: This campaign is an edited version of Call of Cthulhu: Song and Dance scenario from the Tales of the Crescent City book. While a lot has been changed, there IS spoilers for it throughout these posts. ALSO we are currently playing this, so please don’t spoil us either!! Thanks!

This one was delayed because I needed to make sure it was as cool as Henry was in this scene. It was a REALLY COOL SCENE… and uh, VERY FRIGHTENING,, Anyways, we’re in the thick of it now, boys!

ART CHANGES THIS SEASON!! @inkdemonapologist and I are collabing on all the art for these summery posts!! Shazz does lines, and I compose and colour the pieces.

The Cthulhu boys don’t really have a concept of LGBT Pride, and have few words for what exactly they are, but this 1930s animation studio full of queer folks finding a way to be who they are and make a life with the ones they love anyway has just… meant so much to me this past couple of years, I wanted them to be able to celebrate it too. Happy Pride, you guys!

i'm such a huge fucking fan of having and using magic requiring effort. whether mental, physical, or both. i'm so fond of magic systems that make you sweat, bleed, cry and get your hands dirty when you use them. i love it when powers are earned, not inherent, through years of study and/or exercizing them like a muscle. and i love it when a seemingly effortless display of power is terrifying because of this.

YES!!!!! MAGIC THAT REQUIRES MAINTENANCE! MAGIC THAT DRAINS! MAGIC THAT CORRUPTS BODY AND SOUL!

Hi Shazz! I’m a huge fan of your work, and had a couple questions. :) First, How did you come up with your designs for the studio bois? And Second, I’m curious what your ideas of the what class the boys would be if they were in Dungeons And Dragons. Peace and love to ya!

Since this specifies the boys, I do want to clarify that for the Cthulhu boys designs, I only designed Sammy – the others were designed by the friends who play them! (Joey is Boo’s design, Jack is Mochi’s design, and Henry is Maf’s design). And I feel like those four also develop a lot just based on like, bouncing off of each others’ styles when we draw each others’ characters. For my own interpretations of the human BatIM characters a lot of it was just……. listening to audiologs a whole bunch, and taking the few scraps of description we have into account, and trying to make a visual that looked the way that the character felt to me, with a dash of fandom inspiration since I’d absorbed a lot of other takes before designing my own. You can kinda tell I was going with my gut a lot on the designs since they aren’t as diverse as they could be; admittedly I really didn’t expect to still be drawing BENDY AND THE INK MACHINE fanart 2 years later!! I’m still proud of them, though, and put a lot of thought into how they should feel – I wanted to capture that “devilish” look Buddy describes for Norman; I wanted Sammy to be pointy, angry, stressed to the breaking point, and attractive in a weird way; I wanted to make Susie someone who looked almost like a cartoon IRL, like she should’ve been perfect, etc etc etc.

Anyway, D&D ASSIGNMENTS,

I love your sprites! Henry gives me “Just a guy” vibes which is hilarious because that’s what he’s biasly described as in canon!

Omg thank you so much!! I did make the sprites, but the design for Henry isn’t mine -- that’s @inkcryptid ’s Henry! He’s a great Just A Guy (and also if you change his hairstyle at all he becomes COMPLETELY UNRECOGNISABLE). It's funny because TIOL came out sometime early on in Season 2 of the Cthulhu AU, way after our versions had been designed -- so it wasn't intentional, but it ended up being perfect.

I still love the idea that Joey is being completely honest when he says Henry is totally unremarkable and has such a forgettable face that Joey legitimately had to work to remember what he looked like and then nobody was more shocked than Joey Drew when THATS the man he fell in love with

Henry’s Just A Guy ness is a very important part of his design and character to me. This is a guy you could bump into at the supermarket and forget as soon as your eyes are off him. This is a guy who loves his wife and kids and is a pleasant neighbor but you never really have reason to talk to him. This is a guy who goes “Mondays, am I right” when coming into work. He also has golden blood and glowing eyes and has tangoed with the occult but that’s secondary. He has taxes he needs to do and he’s not looking forward to it.
