I dont hate Steven universe as much as I used to tbh, I think most of my hate came from an annoying friend who actively got so angry with me for disagreeing with them bc I didn't think the show was a gift from God, like I still love s1 and early s2 and think the show just got worse as it tried to tackle what it did (why are you trying to forgive dictators. Grrr why are you building up these villains to be so genuinely evil and then turning them into silly wine aunts after all the harm they caused).
It had potential to be super cool and the characters were so interesting (at least in the beginning) and I argue that the only characters who got genuinely good development were amethyst and pearl, but like anyways I've cooled down on it. I still think all of those diehard stans who threw tantrums over ppl critiquing it are major losers, especially because the show DID have problems w racism (biggest example is the human zoo, how fucking tonedeaf) and like are you seriously so obsessed with a TV show that you'll go to war for it? Just fucking accept it isn't perfect
