In the name of my friends, I am asking for help:

"Please SIGN and SHARE this petition against censorship at the University of Vienna! Give us back our lectures on Palestine!" 🇵🇸🕊️

TLDR: The University of Vienna is canceling lectures about Palestine, and disinviting scholars who have a pro-Palestinian stance; please sign & share the petition by March 20 to show people everywhere care. The students' demands are listed in the petition. Anyone can sign.

Censorship surrounding topics of Palestine is nothing new - but in the last few months there has been an alarming increase in censorship, where artists have their exhibitions shut down, universities are setting up barriers to knowledge about Palestine, highly unserious articles with very serious accusations about academics are popping up, ... Now two lectures on Palestine were canceled, and another scholar was just uninvited for what he posted on his social media (pro-Palestinian content). A previous protest letter from the academic community was ignored by the University, and a recent sit-in there was met with an unnecessarily high number of police who intimidated the small group of protesters. That is the only reaction anti-Zionist protests yield. -> more info in the petition link

Why/How does the University of Vienna do this? Basically, any public criticism of the Israeli government is misconstrued as antisemitism. Then, the University disinvites the academics in question and cancels lectures, or forces lecturers to "adjust" their content. Scholars are being muzzled. The University doesn't want its students to learn about various perspectives on Palestine. Mind you, this is a public institution we're talking about.

The petition is intended to show the University that people disapprove of these practices. The argument of "safety" is brought up all the time, but at the same time, the University gladly erects barriers between their students and the valuable knowledge that would foster critical thinking and understanding. Palestinians are directly affected by this deadly apathy, and Muslim and Jewish people everywhere suffer from heightened antisemitism and islamophobia fueled by misinformation and myths. And at the end of the day, censorship is nothing but bad academic practice. It is an attempt to shape the minds of students by making information harder to access and to exclude scholars who talk about/are from Palestine. It's discrimination against Palestinians and it's shameless instrumentalization of Jewish trauma.

Anybody who is concerned can sign. Please share widely with any and all communities! The petition should go international! Every signature counts.

Say NO to all barriers to knowledge. 🇵🇸🕊️

Transcript of tweet. Namibian Presidency @NamPresidency :

Namibia rejects Germany’s Support of the Genocidal Intent of the Racist Israeli State against Innocent Civilians in Gaza

On Namibian soil, #Germany committed the first genocide of the 20th century in 1904-1908, in which tens of thousands of innocent Namibians died in the most inhumane and brutal conditions. The German Government is yet to fully atone for the genocide it committed on Namibian soil. Therefore, in light of Germany’s inability to draw lessons from its horrific history, President @ hagegeingob expresses deep concern with the shocking decision communicated by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany yesterday, 12 January 2024, in which it rejected the morally upright indictment brought forward by South Africa before the #InternationalCourtofJustice that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in #Gaza.

Worryingly, ignoring the violent deaths of over 23 000 Palestinians in Gaza and various United Nations reports disturbingly highlighting the internal displacement of 85% of civilians in Gaza amid acute shortages of food and essential services, the German Government has chosen to defend in the International Court of Justice the genocidal and gruesome acts of the Israeli Government against innocent civilians in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

Germany cannot morally express commitment to the United Nations Convention against genocide, including atonement for the genocide in Namibia, whilst supporting the equivalent of a holocaust and genocide in Gaza. Various international organizations, such as Human Rights Watch have chillingly concluded that Israel is committing war crimes in Gaza.

President Geingob reiterates his call made on 31 December 2023, “No peace-loving human being can ignore the carnage waged against Palestinians in Gaza”. In that vein, President Geingob appeals to the German Government to reconsider its untimely decision to intervene as a third-party in defence and support of the genocidal acts of Israel before the International Court of Justice.

Someone who has wherewithal, please make one video putting all the genocidal intent and dehumanizing speak from Israelis and American politicians, journalist, etc.

Than we should make it go viral and let everyone see it. These fuckers deserve worldwide audience for this.

Someone is thinking along the same lines as me. This guy is collecting all the genocidal speak against Palestinians by Israeli's and western politicians, journalist, etc.

Again, someone please make a video and let's make it go viral. I don't know if this guy plans on doing that or not. I think he is just collecting all the evidence. I don't have twitter (I use nitter to see what is happening on tweeter).

He is still collecting evidence and updating this after he verify. So many fuckers lusting for the genocide of Palestinians.

sorry to bother you with this (again, I think) but. my 1 and a half year old female hognose is only 76g but the vet a few months back said she was a bit fat (doesn't look it to me) and to already slow down to one feeding every two weeks... but 76g for a girl that age is quite little isn't it? I've seen males the same age (possibly her siblings) that were bigger than her... am I wrong in my estimate?

I think the issue might be that I'm having trouble sourcing appropriately sized feeders so if I AM right then I should probably double up on the fuzzies I CAN get my hands on..?

Avatar

76g is on the smaller side of average for that age, but still pretty typical imo. A pic from the top down would be helpful in me checking out her body condition! I would definitely recommend small / medium hoppers for her if you can source them, until then doubling up on fuzzies is fine. You may want to dust them in a little calcium + d3 powder on occasion as well since fuzzies don't have all the solid bone that hoppers have. That being said it is pretty easy for hognoses to get chunky when fed multiple, fattier feeder items. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with! Good luck!

Avatar

Oh yeah, dusting with stuff is a good idea I've forgotten about, thanks for the reminder!

Here's a pic of her (a couple hours after getting two fuzzies, hence the slightly thicker part on the left)

And thanks for the help/advice!

Ichigo is already unique compared to other Shonen MCs because he’s a grumpy English major who reads Shakespeare and is at the top of his class instead of being an idiot sunshine boy. All this nonsense about him not having a goal because he doesn’t want to become Shinigami president is ridiculous. He’s got bills to pay and a kid to put through pre school he can’t be stuck doing afterlife bureaucracy paperwork for ten thousand years.

Whenever I see people try to differentiate what is “Israel” and what is the “Palestinian state” I always have a very awkward feeling - which is why I think a lot of people need to reevaluate how they speak about Palestine and Israel, specifically what they define as occupied Palestine.

My father’s family is from a village in Jaffa (the district), which is now part of what most people define as “mainland Israel” or an “undisputed” part of Israel - like that land was acquired legally or ethically and an unequivocal part of what is Israel vs what is considered (at least to some) Palestine (the West Bank & Gaza).

My father’s family had the choice to flee or die and to this day cannot return home to Jaffa. It leaves me with a strange feeling when people discuss a hypothetical “two state solution” as if that land is inarguably Israel and the West Bank and Gaza is inarguably Palestine - my family is not from the West Bank or Gaza, they’re from Jaffa. Proudly Palestinians from Jaffa - they’re not Israeli and never be Israeli, they predate the modern colonial state of Israel.

When people talk about occupied Palestine, they’re usually referring to the 1967 borders and the increasing settlements in the West Bank, when Palestinians talk about occupied Palestine, we’re talking about all of it - every corner of what people define as “mainland Israel” there is a story of Palestinian dispossession - It includes my family and thousands of others.
