Unpopular DC Opinion: the Reboot that gave us the current continuity as of now since 2011 should’ve had the following at launch: Only 12 -29 total books, each issue only $1.99 max, only two Batman books, Nightwing is a Titans book not a Batbook, The Titans should have three teams at launch: Titans (Donna, Garth, Roy, Lilth, Karen Beecher, Jericho), Young Justice (Tim, Conner, Bart, Cassie, Mgan, and Artemis Crock) and what I call Justice Titans (new timeline first line up; Nightwing, Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy and Cyborg) and finally besides Nightwing, Kori, Rachel, Gar and Vic get solo books.

You mean, NOT write 19 bat centric books?! BUT HOW WOULD THE WRITERS SURVIVE?

It’s ironic because, DC did a voting poll pitting a bunch of unique ideas against the concept of a Robins book and everything lost to it.

And then fans who talk nothing but bats and who shit actively on other books NOT bat related and want them to get canceled, pulled this:

at fans not voting for other unique titles.

It’s just…the lack of self awareness truly isn’t there, is it? Lol.

Oh to add a bit more for this opinion:

Clois marriage is intact and Jon Kent is a thing

Dickkory wedding is proceeding without interruptions

Justice Titans book has two HQs for them: A Titans Tower in Bludhaven Bay and one in Earth’s orbit

Barbara Gordon is still Oracle, whether she can walk or not

Rachel and Gar are now a tad bit older in age

Marv Wolfman is put in charge of Justice Titans as writer while Jim Lee is artist

NO EVENT COMICS OR CROSSOVERS FOR A FULL YEAR AND A HALF

and finally

Everyone’s suits have variety and traditional colors as opposed to the New 52 attempting to make everything either armor or a combo of black and red

*Jon Kent is also still a child.

**Dick and Kory STAY married and eventually have Mar'i.

***Rachel and Gar are Dick & Kory’s ages and they might be dating.

The rest is good. 😂 I’d read it!

Also also,

Dick was not just taken in by Bruce as a Foster child at age 8 instead of a Ward but was confirmed being fully adopted as by 10-12 years, formed the first Teen Titans at 14-15 with Kori, Rachel, Gar and Vic, transition to Nightwing is essentially like it was Pre Crisis (ie just a realization of growing up and needing his own identity) albeit with some minor additions ala inspiration for the new Discowing suit being from both the circus and Superman’s tales of the Nightwing entity from Krypton.

Court of Owls are introduced as Titans Villains instead of Batman/Nightwing villains

Damian is still on good terms with the rest of the Batfam but like as of now is traveling worldwide in his current suit, I dub him Robin Grey

Related to the above, Tim meanwhile is firmly Robin, working alongside both Bats and his YJ team

Wonder Woman is written by Gail Simone and retains her classic/Rebirth characterization

Rachel Roth lives with her aunt and extended family whenever on days off

All books are biweekly

Books are available to buy in book stores, comic shops and general stores to extend our audience reach

At this point, should I just stop now?

I like Gail, but Rucka’s Diana is top notch, nothing comes close. 😛

But yeah, I can dig it!

Very quick final touches for now,

The Batman himself…..not a jerk, moody and prefers peace and quiet yes but not a jerk at all

Superman is of course his lovable, decent and just a chill guy to hang out as always, though arcs were he isn’t taking on major world scale supervillains/disasters he tackles social issues and what can be improved in vein of his Golden Age roots

Red Hood is stayed clear from writing by Scott Lobdell….period

Jessica Cruz Still exists

The core Justice League line up is Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Green Lantern John Stewart, Barry Allen as the Flash, Hawkwoman, and Martian Manhunter

Doom Patrol book…nuff said

Red X Canonized….as a partner to Jason Todd instead of being Jason himself

No numerous super secret organizations and agencies, just these but That’s it: Project Cadmus led by Amanda Waller (mostly the good), League of Shadows led by Talia Al Ghul (the bad), The Court of Owls and the Light aka Secret Society of Supervillains (Lawful and Neutral Evil respectively)

@mothnem @tarisilmarwen @wisegirlandseaweedbrainforever @nyxqueen97, additional ideas will be appreciated but otherwise just enjoy this little bit of nonsense LOL

Now that we’re back to this thing, time for a little addition…

(Clears Throat)

After about a year or two within this hypothetical reboot and since all books are bi weekly, meaning in we have preferably 25 issues worth of story and natural uninterrupted character development for all our heroes, THEN we can try just ONE event comic

And here’s my idea for such an occasion,

- In the build up within the pages of Justice Titans (the book starring NIghtwing, Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven and Cyborg), Green Lanterns (starring John Stewart, Simon Baz, Jessica Cruz and Tai Pham, usual bad guy here being Red Lantern leader Atrocitus) and others which had an arc or even a one shot on such, we cut to the Planet Tamaran, birth world of Starfire and most important for this event, her older (usually wicked) sister Blackfire as she ascends into being the Grand Empress of Tamaran. As she finally claims the throne by the time of this event, she notices something within the boundaries of the Vega system….massive, frightening, and heading right straight for them. Whatever this force is, within the Green Lanterns book, those of all Lantern colors caught within its path are lost in contact, entire planets either go dark or if anything is coming from them, indicating being outright destroyed. Most of the intergalactic heroes believe this being the work of Darkseid. However, we are given one of the most important revelations….he merely gave this force that can even beat the Green Lantern Corps and even the Reach (Blue Beetle scarab creators) an a-okay to go ahead but otherwise was not involved.

 - We begin things proper with an Issue #1 of this event released on Free Comic Book Day, in which Blackfire herself pays a visit to the Planet Earth, in particular the Justice Titans Tower in Earth’s orbit. She requests an assembly of the finest heroes, tech experts and magic users her sister can gather in a short notice and whatever they can’t get on time, Blackfire’s forces fill in the gaps with some of the more cooperative super villains. With their numbers up to 20 total members, she fills both our characters and us the audience on what the threat is.

 - Basically, the force that by now has invaded Tamaran and required Blackfire to assemble the teams she has is an ancient and once- dormant alien empire from the outer rims of the Andromeda Galaxy. Think of these guys as basically a combination of The Dominion from Star Trek, the Covenant from Halo and perhaps most overtly the Dire Wraiths from ROM Spaceknight with their leadership patterned after the Skeksis from the Dark Crystal for good measure. Utilizing a combination of sorcery, advanced tech and a sheer fanaticism within all branches of their military, this empire, whom we can officially name the Supreme Divine Commonwealth have waiting countless millennia developing their spells, tactics and technology, even after enduring multiversal crises to match the likes of the various Lantern Corps and other alien empires including the Kunds, the Reach, and even to an extent New Genesis and Apokolips in a bid to, of course, take over the universe.

 - Within the past in-universe year, the SDC as they’re nicknamed have finally took the opportunity to strike, very quickly carving a path of conquest and destruction all across first Andromeda followed by any galaxy nearby. As stated, all Lantern Corps have been pushed back relentlessly and the planets who hadn’t simply gone dark via being subjected to their will are flat out destroyed, either via core destruction or simply their planetary surfaces reduced to glass. That brings us to Issue #1 of this reboot’s first true event comic in which by now, the SDC have reached and begun a massive inavsion of Planet Tamaran due to the planet’s people fighting back. The Tamaraeans even made a truce with their hated arch-nemesis the Gordanians to push back the SDC but as Blackfire can attest, it only be at most an week before Tamaran falls. Once it does though, Earth will be next. What’s more, if all is lost, Earth will face the biggest of all invasions from the SDC since it’s considered a Crown Jewel on this alien superpower’s crown.

- Blackfire’s plan is for our collection of heroes and villains to form 4 teams and spread them out to open up battle fronts against this hostile alien power. They are divided by colors based on temporary uniforms gifted by Blackfire’s forces so they can coordinate based on such;

First up is Red Team (Led by Starfire; members include Jon Kent aka Superboy, Megan Morse aka Miss Martian, Red Lantern Atrocitus and the alien starfish Starro the Conqueror) which is sent to Planet Tamaran itself to act as basically the front line against the invasion.

Next is Yellow Team (Led by Troia aka Donna Troy, the first Wonder Girl; members include Raven, magic hero Zatanna, John Constantine the Hellblazer and finally resident Lord of Chaos Klarion the Witch Boy), their mission is to head to the Planet Hako on one edge of the Andromeda Galaxy, home of the SDC’s mystic arts academies, who train their empire’s magic users in the art of war. They must shut down their magic at all costs.

Another is Orange Team (Led by Cyborg; members include Gizmo the bratty tech expert of the HIVE Five, Robin ‘Grey’ aka Damian Wayne, Wally West aka the Flash, and Harley Quinn of all people) whom will go the opposite edge of the Andromeda galaxy to the Planet of Bulhilu, basically the large scale factory of the SDC’s advanced tech and science laboratories. As with Yellow Team, their mission is to shut down what goes on this planet at all costs to halt the SDC war machine.

And finally, we have Blue Team (in a surprise move, Blackfire gives leadership of this team to Nightwing, making herself second in command instead due to Dick’s leadership skills and her own self doubts; the other members here include Lex Luthor, Beast Boy and fianlly Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke the Terminator). While all other teams either focus on a key part of the SDC invasion, Blue Team will go behind enemy lines and head to the Capitol Planet of the SDC itself, The White Nova, and take on it’s leadership directly. Should they overcome and overthrow the leader of the Commonwealth, the Scared Divine Empress, it’ll put the empire into immediate disarray and stop the invasion in its tracks once and for all.

- As such, with their missions, our heroes leave Earth, the heroes left behind, prominently other Titans, the Batfamily and the Justice League being now on alert until the heroes return….Issue #1 ends with one lone SDC supercruiser, a ship with enough manpower, tech and magic users to subjugate an entire solar system within a month that just jumps out of hyperspace right past the Earth’s orbital defenses, right over the city of Gotham…just when Superman is about to approach the ship, it unleashes a Kryptonite beam that knocks him right out of the sky and almost immediately he’s captured. The battle for the Earth itself has just begun…and the heroes left on Earth are already losing….badly.

- This event follows a weekly schedule, meaning starting with Issue #1 released on Free Comic Book Day, the next issue is released the very next Wednesday. In total, it has 8 issues, taking only 2 months to complete.

-Each issue post-Free Comic Book Day costs only $0.99 (plus tax)

- All other titles in the entire line are put on hold until this event concludes meaning they resume the week after this event releases its final issue

- Writing duties are handled by a trio of Scott Snyder, Gail Simone and Mark Waid.

- Since this books follows a weekly format, the artists’ issues follow one issue for each, as such; Bruno Redondo on Issues #1 and #5, Francis Manapul on #2 and #6, Marcus To on #3 and #7 and finally Patrick Gleason on #4 and #8.

- The end result of the book does not result in any reboots or retcons but instead new status quos for the characters involved once normal scheduling resumes. Books that will keep the same creatives teams for sure once the event ends are Justice Titans, Nightwing, Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, Action Comics, Detective Comics and the Wonder Woman solo. All other books can either keep their creative teams from before or change them depending on fan reaction to them pre-event.

- Finally for this event’s title:

But what about my favorite hero? Jaime Reyes “Blue Beetle” and his friend, Bart Allen “Impulse?” Are they on Earth?

Yep, and by the time the main heroes arrive back on Earth by issue #7, Blue Beetle and Impulse are among the very few heroes alongside Robin/Tim Drake, Superboy Red/Conner Kent, Wonder Girl/Cassie Sandsmark,Black Bat aka Cass Cain, Oracle and Wonder Woman who are active in fighting the invasion of Earth. All other Earth-bound heroes by this point are either captured or missing in action ever since that supercruiser arrived on Earth. Needless to say, things weren’t looking very good.

So it’s basically Young Justice and Wonder Woman defending the earth. Where are the Amazons and the Atlantians? Have they fallen or are they fighting alongside Wonder Woman and Young Justice?

Also, suddenly everyone is happy that Batman is so paranoid and obsessively plans for everything. There are batcaves with tech and weapons all over the planet. And Tim knows where each and everyone is.

Wonder Woman: There’s a batcave under Mount Etna?

Tim: Yep. It’s powered by hydro thermo turbines using the magma chambers with the side benefit of the heat masking our prescence.

Wonder Woman: It’s an active volcano.

Kon: Crazy genius, isn’t it?

Cassie: I mean it’s perfect. No one in their right mind would be there.

Bart: and it has a great sauna!

Batman needed Tim on earth to be the last, best line of defense along the other members of Young Justice. Batman may have his doubts about metas but he knows that not only is this team fought alongside each other for years, but that the members of YJ will keep Tim safe when Bruce can’t. He needs Tim’s strategic abilities to keep the fight to defend earth going long enough for the other heroes get back there for a final stand.

Adding to this, I think since it’s the Young Justice Crew, the Amazons, and the Atlantians defending Earth it could be an amazing opportunity to have Conner, Cassie, and Tim seen as a new age Trinity to the public as they coordinate with Wonder Woman and the Amazons, as well as the Atlantians.

I also think Young Justice working alongside the remaining heroes as they hold the line and stop the invasion before the Final Battle would be a great way of broadcasting that even with most of Earth’s mightiest defenders out of the way, the Earth is still not defenceless! I think this concept would also give Wonder Woman the chance to rally Earth’s forces with one of her epic speeches just before and then after the heroes arrive back on Earth.

A possible cool byproduct or plotline of this could be the Earth villains getting their hands on enemy tech and remaking it as a weapon. It can be left unclear if they plan to use it on the invaders during the Final Battle, or the heroes in the future post-crisis setting up a new plot back on Earth.

Somehow that sounds a tad bit better than mine LOL Especially the Post-Event mention of villains getting their hands on the invaders‘ tech

Anyways, by the end of this entire silly silly thing, it all comes down to a Two Vs One Showdown:

Blackfire and Nightwing VS the last SDC Admiral on board the supercruiser above Gotham

Meanwhile on the below surface, Tim, Starfire, Donna, Diana and Starro free all the captured heroes and all together engage the invading forces in the city.

SPOILERS: The heroes win

However, Nightwing is punched in the chest by the Admiral so hard, it causes his heart to stop, leaving Blackfire to finish the fight but in a display character development for her, she spares the Admiral’s life once she triumphs in combat.

At first it seems poor Dick is pretty much a goner but out of gratitude and actual genuine concern for more or less her brother in law, Blackfire uses a Starbolt to act as a defibrillator to restart his heart. After three shocks, she successfully revives Dick.

Blackfire (panting out of exhaustion): “Well it seems you were technically dead for five of your Earth minutes.”

Nightwing (prone on the ground, weakly mumbling): “huh….no wonder why I saw Mom and Dad for a short bit…did we…?”

Blackfire: “Yeah, we won“

Nightwing: “Cool….wanna get some pizza? I know a good place at Otisburg”

So our event ends with almost all heroes and even some of the villains having a massive party at Wayne Manor (except for Lex and Slade, they were uninvited); enjoying that pizza Dick has talked about, Jon and Damian providing the music with Alfred on drums and Conner on Bass, and in the height of the festivities, Blackfire makes a grand speech in congratulating her allies, both those who came with her and those who defended the Earth especially, for the effort in repelling this formidable empire and officially declares Tamaran to be an official ally of the Earth itself, a mutual defense treaty shall be drafted starting the next day.

Just then before the party can resume, Dick steps on stage and calls for Kory. He tries making a fancy speech about her in a calm professional and friendly manner….before he starts losing track of his words, says ‘screw it’, gets on one knee in front of her, and pulls out something he’d been meaning to get out of his pocket right before this event even began….it’s a small silver ring with a bright emerald

”Princess Koriand’r of Tamaran….I love you. Will you marry me?”

This idea is epic.

A bunch of fans, who apparently know the characters better than the people being paid to write for them, putting thier ideas together on the fly have created something light years better than anything I’ve come out of DC in the last decade. My thanks to Paladin-of-nerd-fandom65 for starting this!

You’re very welcome friend ;-)

But really you should thank @fireflyxrebel-writes for answering my question in the first place LOL

Now that I has been at month or two since I last wrote an idea or few for this sill, silly, stupid thing that is My Unpopular Opinion for How I would Reboot/Relaunch DC Comics Had I Been Editor In Chief, I feel a need to once more to spit something out on said silly stupid thing.

- As by now so far we have the following titles at the hypothetical launch:

– Action Comics

– Detective Comics

– Wonder Woman

– Justice League

– Justice Titans (* Each Member getting their own solo title)

– Titans (Troia, Red Arrow, Tempest, Omen, Bumblebee and Jericho)

– Young Justice (Robin [Tim Drake}, Superboy Red (Conner Kent), Impulse, Wonder Girl, Miss Martian, Artemis with The Flash [Wally West] acting as their coach] )

– Green Lanterns

– Doom Patrol

– Nightwing*

– Starfire*

– Raven*

– Beast Boy*

– Cyborg*

- Here are the rest of the launch titles:

– The Flash (Adventures of both Barry Allen and Wally West)

– Superman solo (While Action Comics focuses on Clark and his family with Lois, Conner and Jon [aka Superboy Blue] in the present day, this book explores his earlier adventures)

– Batman solo (Similar situation with Action Comics; within the first 12 issues, we focus primarily on Batman’s first years of crime fighting in Gotham, back in the days where there was no Batsignal, his Batmobile being just a regular plain car, the only gadgets he had being a grapple gun and a sound device that can literally call bats, his Rouges being mere thugs and crime bosses instead of actual super-villains and the only two people besides Alfred in the entirety of Gotham that can confirm The Batman even exists are GCPD Captain Jim Gordon and DA Harvey Dent, otherwise he is an urban myth, a bedtime story that frightens kids to behave lest they face him. Things change though with issues #13 - #25 the former issue kicking it off ….one fateful night….a performance by the famed Haly Circus with their starring attraction…The Flying Graysons)

– Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy (Harley retains an updated version of her classic Clown Girl outfit as opposed to the controversial redesign we got in the New 52)

– Shazam (Billy Batson and his extended family retains their Classic Characterizations)

– Aquaman

– Birds of Prey (Composed of Black Bat [Cass Cain], Black Canary, Lady Blackhawk, Huntress, Misfit [Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe], Spoiler, and led by Oracle)

– Task Force X (The ‘military arm’ of Project Cadmus under the command of Amanda Waller; comprised of Captain Rick Flag, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, King Shark, Killer Frost, Ratcatcher 2, Polka Dot Man, Lady Shiva, and Peacemaker)

– Super Sons (Robin ‘Grey’ [Damian Wayne] and Superboy Blue [Jon Kent]…nuff said)

– Static Shock

– Blue Beetle (In this rebooted timeline, Ted Kord is still alive but essentially passed on the mantle to Jaime Reyes and now acts as the latter’s superhero coach; supporting regular being of course Booster Gold)

– Swamp Thing

– Legion of Superheroes, and finally,

– What I like to call Titans of the Multiverse; a selected group of Titans from across the DC Multiverse are assembled by a cosmic being who appears no older than an average teenager. Yet, his power matches that of both The original Monitor and Anti-Monitor from Crisis on Infinite Earths combined, for good reason since he’s the original Monitor’s son, created and meant to awaken when it his turn to catalog and record events in the greater multiverse. That time has come though as the Multiverse itself begins to change, various timelines and alternate worlds are thrown off kilter by the recent cosmic shift (i.e. the recent Reboot) and now The Monitor’s Son must find a means to fix all that and restore various worlds to their rightful state. It turns out while growing up under his father and the previous timeline’s various other Monitors, he became a huge fan of the team known as the Titans, hence the team he has selected for this mission. The Titans selected for this team are:

+ Nightstar (Mar’i Grayson, daughter of Nightwing and Starfire) from Kingdom Come

+ Superboy-Robin (’What if Tim Drake was killed off so his best Friend Conner Kent took over the Robin Mantle) from the Superboy storyline ‘Hypertension’

+ Dark Flash (an altrernate version of Wally West from as the name implies a darker string of events)

+ HawkBeast (a combination of Hawkman and Beast Boy) from the Superman/Batman storyline ‘Mash Up’

+ Knight-Wing (Clark Joel Wayne, Grandson of Clark Kent and adopted son of Bruce Wayne, Jr.) from Superman & Batman Generations

However, this team here is merely an initial line up since unlike the majority of other team books, they are not safe from the possibility of actual death with each mission, especially with said missions having a strong chance turning everything you’re familiar with about the mainstream DCU its head with one twist or another. The possibilities are practically limitless. Especially when one discovers...there’s more than just 52 Earths.

Writing duties for this book are handled by Devin K. Grayson and Ann Nocenti while artwork is provided Meghan Hetrick***

And yes, it’s takes heavy inspiration and basically a DC counterpart to the classic Marvel series Exiles

*** Recent Addition as of 10/8/2022: Recently I have considered another candidate for the main writer of this book, Brian Michael Bendis

Father-son bonding ♥

Yeah okay maybe I have a bit of a problem. Just a teensy eensy weensy bit though. Maybe.

I was gonna make Thula and the other guy into evil Kryptonians but when I went to make her into Faora I realized she's actually just Anissa in like every way (which pairs nicely with a C*****st Brutaal and T***gg Zod). So I didn't end up doing that.

Included some cute Kon and Jon cause I can. Almost switched the colors and made Ollie Mario.

(Made the second image mainly because I thought Mark looked funny in the back, but then I accidentally made Conner vogue which is incredibly in-character lol)

(That second image could also be Jor-El and Jon but it didn't fit this au [plus you can tell I did not care to put effort in that one])

(Sidenote Debbie would make an awesome Lois and I just wanted to point it out)

LMAO Bruce is disgusted at the thought of getting magical powers to accomplish their mission, he will never stoop so low, don't be ridi-- Dick Grayson, two feet away, hand literally waving in the air: OOOH GIVE ME THE MAGICAL POWERS GIVE THEM TO ME I WILL TOTALLY TAKE THE MAGICAL POWERS Just. The conflict between: Bruce's refusal to ever accept magical powers because they're not his own, because he couldn't rely on them as part of what he'd created on his own, because he hates magic and the nonsense it brings with it VERSUS His gremlin child who has so many of the same skills as he does, has the same reasons to mistrust using magic as a crutch, who has learned all the same fighting and detective skills Batman has, who is Batman But Better, immediately going hell yes I will take the magical powers GIMME Is the funniest thing in the world. Bruce would scream into the void if he had the time to spare, how can everything he stand for be so betrayed by this kid that he loves so much?? WHY IS HE LIKE THIS??? AGONY.

What kills me every time is that Bruce can be in such a foul mood that he's legit terrifying interdimensional magical beings into just about shitting their pants in fear, meanwhile Dick Grayson is MAKING JOKES WHILE BATMAN IS STILL IN THE ROOM, that guy has ZERO fear of Bruce's anger and will straight up say the most unserious things with him like THREE FEET AWAY and Bruce never does jack shit about it. Meanwhile, he's legitimately terrifying! Just not to the original gremlin child over there. Perfect dynamic, 100/10, zero notes, they're the funniest, your honor.
