He could taste the saltiness of her tears as she kissed him with fervor, and he clung to her as if she would disappear if he didn’t hold on tight enough. To him, it had only been mere hours since his plane crash, but he wasn’t sure how long it had actually been. Weeks? Months? Years?
He laughs a little. She was always thinking of others before herself.
“I’m alright. I think. How long was I…”
“A year,” she didn’t want to talk about it, didn’t want to relive the horror of thinking him dead. She had to keep touching him, to prove to herself over and over again that he was real.
“You’re here,” she murmured kissing his cheek, “that’s all that matters.”
He could see the pain on her face. He wanted to comfort her, and tell her that it was alright, that he was here now. But, it was clear she didn’t want to dredge up the past, and he respected that. Though, he felt like they would need to talk about it eventually.
“When can I leave?” He asks. He just wants to get out of the stuffy old room.
“Today if I have anything to say about it,” Peggy said laughing softly. He could stay with her and Angie, she just wanted him near always. “How are you feeling, Darling, any pain?”
Examining him with her eyes, Peggy worried that the ice may have affected his limbs somehow. But he seemed to be acting fine. “Can you move your legs for me?”

❝ I’m here to ask a favor. ❞
“Anything Maria, just name it.”
he’s been at the gym since 2am. it’s 11pm.
“Darling, it’s late, are you coming home tonight?”
❛ What happened? ❜
“Well.. Nothing really.. Some guy decided to play hero and got hurt.” Steve explained as he helped the cops by blocking off the murder scene. Gosh some people did not know when to stop. Then again, he would have done the same thing. A man died saving someones life. That was the most honorable way to go.
“Are you okay?” Death was never easy, no matter how many times one saw it in their life. Reaching for Steve’s hand, Peggy tried to get him to look at her. Steve may put on a brave face, but even he was not invincible to the effects of war and death.
“Steve, how can I help? Give me something to do, let me help.”
television meme (6/20 female characters) → Peggy Carter “Oh you’re so right, how I managed to stay alive before I met you I’ve no idea.”
❝ I don’t remember giving you a key. ❞
“Darling, there are other ways to get into somewhere without a key, especially when you leave the door unlocked.”
“I understand, Darling.” Peggy said as she poured each of them a healthy drink, “we can talk about anything else, we can talk about the weather for all I care.”
He took the wine glass from her and leaned over to kiss her forehead. “I appreciate your understanding, Pegs, I really do. And I’d love to hear about your day, since mine didn’t really have much in it today. How was work?” he asked, leading her back over to the sofa as he tried to quiet the complaintive voices in his head.
The same as ever I’m afraid, but I did receive a postcard from Howard, he’s in the tropics, wants you and me to come and visit him soon... might be nice to get away.” Peggy said sipping her wine.
Maybe a holiday would help soothe Steve’s mind, not that she would ever insist they go, the war was over Steve was free to decide for himself now.
“What do you think, Darling?”

“Darling, there are other ways to get into somewhere without a key, especially when you leave the door unlocked.”
“Would you like to talk about it?” Peggy asked, following Steve to the kitchen with the bottle. Peggy understood that all this change was hard on Steve, and she wanted to help anyway she could.
“You know that you can tell me anything.”
Steve retrieved the glasses and set them out before closing his eyes, hanging his head and leaning on the counter for support. He wasn’t sure if he had the mental capacity to talk about everything going on his head. “I know that, Peggy. I’d rather just… Not, if it’s alright with you,“ he sighed eventually, looking up at her. “I’d rather not spend what time I get with you on the gymnastics going on in my head.“
“I understand, Darling.” Peggy said as she poured each of them a healthy drink, “we can talk about anything else, we can talk about the weather for all I care.”
Screw up this job, and Wallace will charge possession with intent to distribute. You will go to prison.
If you are implying that I am some sort of chippy toying with two men that I respect, you- The thought never crossed my mind. However, you have rather gone from famine to feast, vis-à-vis quality suitors. And I must say, I do not envy your position. Between Dr. Wilkes’ incandescent smile and Chief Sousa’s eyes, so warm yet so wise. No. No, no. Please, please. No! I never intended to encourage the affections of two quality suitors, as you say. It simply happened.
❝I'm headed to Europe tonight, wanted to ask if you'd come. ❞
“Not tonight, Connie, I have a date.”
