I don't have herpes myself but my first ever time learning about it was from my mom who told me the story of how her friend got it the very first time she had sex. She went on to get married and have kids even with something so challenged happing to her at a young age. She lived a full life and no one was judging her or looking down on her. So that has always been my outlook on herpes or any STI. It doesn't make you gross or make you a bad person or irresponsible in any way. You could have gotten Lyme disease from a tick and no one would be telling you you shouldn't have ever gone outside in the first place. It's a hazzard of life. It doesn't change you as a person. I also want to thank you for being so open about vaginismis because you were the one who helped me realize I had it and your stories helped me feel ok about it. I think of you in very high regards because of this and I always will. I'm behind you cheering you on! You're brave and strong and will help so many people just by being open about this change in your life.❤❤

This has always been a very sex positive, open, honest blog. And it’s a place where I feel like I can actually speak and be heard. I have something to say, and it’s something I’m still uncomfortable with myself, but I want this to be a transparent place where people with vaginas aren’t ashamed of the things we go through.
Yesterday, I was diagnosed with herpes. At the moment, I feel gross, like I’ll never be fully clean again, and like I don’t know who I am. It’s thrown me into a full on identity crisis.
Thankfully, I have supportive people around me and an amazing doctor who see it for what it is… an extremely common virus that has a stigma because of old fashioned conservative values. Maybe this will be a larger part of my blog now or maybe I’ll try to forget about it, but I want to open up the floor to you guys.
If you have it and are comfortable sharing, how does it make you feel?
What are some common misconceptions about it?
And any other tidbits or thoughts you’d like to share. It would really make me feel a lot better.
