I really have no idea what to say. At this point, Kubo has practically scorched his manga, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a big Fuck You to Shueisha who (based on having to finish the manga on such short notice and not having a spot on the front of WSJ for a year) most likely fired him, I’m not surprised.
But as someone who was a fan of this series for ten years, I feel cheated, robbed and disrespected. Kubo did this fandom dirty.

Headcanon that if/whenever one of the paladins gets captured by the Galra they spout so much shit about humans that isn't true, just to mess with them. Hunk convinces a Galra grunt that humans will explode violently unless fed a certain diet. Pidge convinces a Galra scientist that humans' genders can spontaneously change depending on their environment, like African frogs. Lance can throw his voice and uses it to pretend that he can summon spirits. The Galra are terrified and confused.
Even Keith and Shiro get in on it. Keith tells them that his spit can dissolve the flesh off a full-grown Galra soldier. Shiro tells them he can always find his prey with his super advanced senses and they’re marked for a hunt. This far out in space, most Galra grunts have never seen a human or even heard of one. So they’re totally vulnerable to suggestion and stare at each other all wide-eyed. “Did you know they could do that??” Some of them are skeptics but one of paladins holding their breath and turning purple or making odd sounds is enough to freak them out.
Their commanders are even more skeptical, but since none of them had contact with Shiro or the Holts this far out in space, they wonder what kind of being these humans are. What world did they come from that gives them these abilities? They give them a wide berth and regard them with an air of caution.
Do you ever think the lions talk about their paladins when they’re just chilling in their hangars?
