Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ ▌: So it seems the youkai had startled the other. Oh well, it couldn’t be helped, at least the boy didn’t seem to mind her presence, which always helped when trying to talk to someone new.
“You must be quite brave then, to be out here all alone.”
Or foolish she supposed. Yukari often found those two traits came hand in hand when it came to humans. Whether or not the other knew what creatures were lurking in these particular woods was besides the point.
The blonde stopped a few feet away from the child, the parasol she had in hand slowly turning as she flashed the boy an apologetic smile. “I’m afraid I’m not quite so brave…” A small laugh escaped her, “These woods are rather creepy. I felt as if I was being watched during my entire stroll.”
She was lying of course, but the other didn’t have to know that. Lies often lead to more interesting conversations than the truth she found, and it wasn’t as if the youkai had any ill intent toward the human.
”I think I’ve had enough of exploring them for a little while.”
Her words struck something in the young boy, although, he didn’t show it. It was the word ‘brave’, it seemed out of place to describe him. Dipper knew he wasn’t the type, sure he has dived head first into the unknown but he would say that’s being brave. If anything crazy seemed more suitable. Perhaps he was simply projecting his self-doubts upon himself. It was likely and the only reason he wouldn’t consider himself brave.
Such thoughts prevented the Pines from noticing the woman move closer. He watched her with caution and listened intently to her spill of the woods. Whether she was being honest or simply saying things was hard for him to tell. It was simply for the fact her words were truth, but, only because he knew the truth that lurked in the darkness. The beast with one-eyed, the gnomes, the ghouls and ghost. All of those creatures lived in the woods thus would explain the feeling of watchful eyes. Whether he should share this fact was uncertain; it was always best to be clueless about certain things.
“ I’m not surprised. Places that are quiet and large have a tendency to feel that way. Or so psychologist say. ”
He wasn’t sure of what to make of this conversation, it felt almost casual in a way. Again, he could be letting the paranoid get the best of him. Dipper wanted to doubt that this one time, although, hope not to.
