With all due respect:

Given what our show is, our show should be much, much bigger on tumblr.com

Tumblr.com, we are Greater Boston: an urban fantasy fiction podcast unlike anything you've ever heard before. Get to know us. I dare you. If you do, you will be fans.

Today's pitch for Greater Boston podcast:

  • Have you ever wondered how a line of a subway system could be turned into a city? Have you ever thought about how housing, politics, or business might work in a city comprised of train cars?
  • Would you like a character to posthumously win your heart through the medium of Google Calendar entries?
  • Have you ever wanted a reason to google weird details about Boston and be surprised at what's actually based in truth?
  • Are you interested in ghosts, pneumatic tubes, or cheese robots? What about guinea pigs, squeezy stress balls, or mysterious plane hijacker D. B. Cooper?
  • Would you like to learn how a character's complex emotional journey can be represented through the careers of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon?
  • Does the idea of narrator shenanigans appeal to you?
  • Would you like to feel genuine complicated emotions about a man whose first name is Dipshit?
  • Do you want to learn about obscure and sometimes gross forms of divination?
  • Have you ever thought that more kidnapping scenes ought to contain a debate about the plural of hippopotamus?
  • Do you want to find out why I have learned the numbers 1 through 12 in alphabetical order?
  • Would you like to listen to a show in which so many wild things happen that the discovery of Atlantis is a relatively minor plot point?
  • Do you want to be proved wrong every time you think that the show has reached its limit in the number of characters it can make you care deeply about?
  • Would you like to cry whilst listening to a profound long-awaited conversation that takes place on a cheese rollercoaster?
  • Would you like to experience all of this in a show that also manages to sensitively explore political corruption, economic and racial injustice, mental health, and the importance of community?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, you should listen to Greater Boston.

Exhibit A to support this mornings claim.

Just seen a bathroom sign that says "Femmes". Unsure if this is woke or not.

Update: the mens room says Hommes. This seafood restaurant is safe from the "woke mob" but not from the dastardly Frenchman

a while ago i saw an anti-cnc meme that went something like "if your boyfriend learns not to stop at "no", do you really think he's gonna stop at Pineapple?" and ive been thinking about it a lot. like, it assumes that words have some kind of mystical meta-meaning that persists in all contexts, that if we discard the word "no" we also discard the concept of saying no in a symbolic sense. It's a lingually prescriptivist argument in disguise.

when you denote a safeword you're doing language. you're adding another meaning onto a word, i don't have to put it literally. for our purposes it means "stop for real, get out of character right now" and if my hypothetical partner ignored that, it would semantically be a normal violation of consent. weird argument.

the same applies to social scripts. beating someone can be affectionate, acts of violence don't have an innate quality of evil. maybe its the autist in me, i understand that social behavior is always arbitrary and constructed pragmatically and physical abuse as lovemaking isn't a stretch. sometimes piss is a delicious beverage, grow up.

if you teach the actor playing jason in your horror movie not to stop at 'AUGHHH GOD PLEASE DON'T KILL ME' do you really think he's going to stop at 'CUT' :/

Reblogging this again because I found info!

This is 2/3 of a band called Too Many Zooz (they’re lacking their trumpeter here), the song is called ‘Flightning,’ and the genre is “brass house” (which i think they made up but hey i dig it). They have a handful of songs on Spotify and just successfully Kickstarted their first full-length album.

this song as the opening to a new anime by Shinichiro Watanabe honestly

These guys are CHARACTERS for a Watanabe anime.

I seriously love these guys, because they’re so interesting from a music-theory perspective. Their use of intense beats, syncopation, deep bass, and blaring harmonics borrows a lot from modern club music

they’re basically playing dubstep on traditional instruments. Seriously, listen to some tracks with all three of them together, and tell me that’s not what they’re doing
