Let’s take a look at the case of Mad Queen and Dark Dany, shall we?

On the one hand we have the allegation that Daenerys decided, with full conscience, to burn King’s Landing to a crisp in advance to the attack, during her ‘Let it be fear’ scene with Jon Snow.

(Dumb&Dumber did say that it was a shift that happened in that moment and was not planned, but….. at this point do I even need to elaborate???)

Well.

This is the woman who lost her husband and baby and stepped into a fire with three dragon eggs. The woman that got her people out of the Red Waste alive only to have them all be slaughtered. The one that found herself captive to the Dothraki and escaped captivity as their fucking leader, in the most badass throw-me-to-the-wolves-and-I’ll-return-leading-the-pack moment of female empowerment.

Daenerys is the goddamn comeback Queen.

She’s been brutalised, abused, sold and raped. She’s lost more people than anyone. She’s been through everything. There’s nothing you can throw at her she hasn’t already known.

And you expect me to believe that what breaks her is Jon Snow being loved and idolised by a bunch of Northerners and wildlings that are coincidentally his buddies?

Really?

Daenerys Stormborn, the Breaker of Chains, the mhysa worshipped by her people was so incredibly jealous of Jon Snow, whom no one outside the North has even heard of, she decided to go completely berserk? She goes to the region that’s notorious for being isolationist and obstinate, sees them demonstrate the predictable, xenophobic attitude they have towards anyone that isn’t them and she just falls into despair? Does she plan to move the capital to Winterfell and worries about how she’s gonna cope? She literally doesn’t need to set foot in this wasteland for the entirety of her reign.

Do you expect me to believe that Dany was one breath away from her life’s goal achieved, with King’s Landing surrendering without the blood of a single innocent shed, and she just went ‘fuck it, let’s throw this all in the garbage. Three days spent with a bunch of elitist Northern little shits have convinced me that I’m a completely useless leader that will never be loved by anyone, even though my entire life I have found myself navigating cultures completely foreign to me, managing to adapt and integrate, and ultimately win the people’s love and respect. If I don’t have the Northern Stamp of Approval I’m nothing! ’?

Do you expect me to believe Daenerys, who has lost so many people in her life just couldn’t stand the idea of Jon Snow not loving her? Do you really expect me to believe Daenerys Stormborn went full Ophelia/Lady MacBeth combo because.. a man rejected her? That’s it?! A man she knows for no more than a few weeks and has cost her near everything while giving her nothing?

Wasn’t everyone crying about Dany being powerhungry and obsessed with the Throne until yesterday? So how the everliving fuck can they seriously consider a plot that has her throw her victory and lifelong dream away, in any way believable?

Wasn’t everyone crying about Dany’s notorious dark side and Targaryen ruthlessness? So why didn’t she go straight for the Red Keep to take her revenge by taking down the woman that murdered her best friend, the woman who’s family ordered the massacre and brutalisation of her niece, nephew and sister-in-law and tried to decimate the entire Targaryen House?

‘But that’s what made her lose it! She couldn’t handle it and turned mad! The Targaryen genes! The inbreeding!’

Bullshit.

Five Targaryens have gone mad in three centuries. Five. And many others went down in history as some of the kindest, most benevolent rulers of the Realm.

You want to talk about her father, whom everyone loves bringing up with their smartass I-told-you-so comments? The man whom it took years to descend into madness and become the Mad King? The Nero of Westeros, that wanted to burn King’s Landing because he thought that would make him a fucking dragon? That’s the parallel you’re going for? Based on what?

How is a Pavlovian switch from sanity to madness, caused by bells of all things, a plausible depiction of a character descending into madness?

Dany was enraged, and she had every right to be so. She had every right to unleash holy hell to those who wronged her. Go full fire and blood.

I absolutely love Dany’s darkness, and I will defend the harshness with which she punishes her enemies, the slave masters and rapists and abusers, until my dying breath. I would have loved to see her every bit as ruthless getting her revenge from Cersei and her cronies, a living reflection of Visenya Targaryen, a dragon breathing fire herself.

But burning a city full of innocents to the ground is not how someone overcome with grief and rage that seeks revenge acts.

It’s not how any damn person acts, let alone the show’s posterchild of protecting the innocent and bringing justice. The woman that found a way to liberate Yunkai without shedding a drop of blood. The woman that refused to attack King’s Landing straight away, as any clever leader would do, to spare the innocents, lost her allies’ forces because of it, was willing to put everything on hold to save the North costing her dramatically, and negotiated with the devil for the umpteenth time to save those damn civillians.

Who has ever even done that? Stannis Baratheon that was about to sack the capital with his fleet? Robert Baratheon when he overthrew the Targaryens? Honestly what kind of conqueror bends over backwards, and turns their backs to an easy and certain win so that civillians won’t get hurt?

Daenerys fucking Targaryen did.

Meanwhile, every character we’ve spent seasons watching sit idly by as atrocities are committed, that have done their fair share of actually horrific shit in their day are suddenly clutching their pearls every time that Dany so much as voices the wish to finally fucking do what they came here for.

The gaslighting of Daenerys this past two seasons has been beyond outrageous. Cersei could literally throw her in a cell and Tyrion would be like ‘Your Grace, maybe it’s not wise, to move right away and release you…. Think of the innocent people…. The weather….. The omens…Flower power….’

She had to put up with all this patronising bullshit, suffer detrimental losses in her forces (that were then magically recovered but I am not getting into that shit) because of people that treated her as a mentally unstable liability and just take it.

And she did. She fucking took it all. She singlehandedly won King’s Landing with no civillian getting hurt after postponing the attack a million times already.

And I’m expected to believe that she threw it all away and just started burning everyone alive? Is this the Twilight Zone?

This clusterfuck was neither Dany embracing her fire and blood side nor going mad. It was merely a clownery meant to provide shock valur, that gave the audience the worst case of whiplash in the history of television and the character assassination of one of the most iconic female characters in fantasy.

Sansa and Arya Stark fed a man to his dogs, killed people and baked them into pies, but that’s all alright, because those people deserved it. Dany burned and crucified people, and that’s alright because they were slavers. Except… it’s not?

You know what the difference is? Why the writers want you to believe that Sansa and Arya are morally superior while Dany was somehow a piece of shit? Why Dany was made to lose everything and die by the hands of the only man left she trusts, while Arya survived with fireproof plot armor and Sansa insisted on keeping the north independent out of sheer xenophobia and got her wish, being rewarded with a queenship she no longer deserves?

Because Arya is the kind of “feminist” who says “most girls are idiots” and denounces being a lady, and Sansa’s brand of “feminism” is the one that gets to where she is by being nice to men, even while they abuse her, until she takes what they have, and then being thankful for the little she was given. Now, am I saying that’s wrong? No. Am I saying Sansa is anything less than a survivor? No. Am I belittling what she survived? No. But compare her “If it weren’t for Ramsay and Littlefinger I would still be a little bird” to Dany’s “The only thing that kept me standing is faith in myself.”

Sansa gave credit for where she is to the men who abused her, while Dany said “fuck that noise”.  That’s why Sansa’s stans told Dany to “Get over it and stop complaining” when she mentioned all the hardships she went through.

Daenerys Targaryen never made herself palatable for men. She never bowed down and thanked Viserys, Drogo, the khals, the slavers for abusing her.  She never gave them credit for where she is because they don’t deserve it. She was too strong, too big, too smart, too intimidating for these men (both her adversaries and the writers), so they tried to weaken her, dumb her down, shrink her into nothing, take away all that she has worked for. Their fragile masculinity and their peanut-sized dicks couldn’t bear to have a woman be that unapologetic about her power.

And even though their final sick, misogynistic vision is what was given the screentime, it is all too transparent. Even the people who never particularly loved Dany saw through it. The critics, the reviewers, the audience, we all saw through it. Those final three episodes have tainted the show forever with their legacy. That’s why HBO is in a panic, calling up actors to insult Daenerys and try to sell us that she was evil all along. But no one is buying it except the incels and the Sansa stans, and neither of them has any credibility.

Daenerys Targaryen ultimately won. She showed us what men are all about. She refused to go down without dragging the whole ship down with her. We all saw through the contrived moral superiority of the rest of the cast of this show who are all murderers in their own right, and hung on to our love for Daenerys for dear life.

And oh, does it hurt them.

Kit apparently said that Dany was bad from the very beginning and "we're culpable. We cheered her on." I cannot stand by the cast painting Dany as evil for her ruthlessness against terrible people while saying nothing about Sansa, Arya, Jon, Jaime, Tyrion, or anyone else doing the same thing in the series. It's blatant hypocrisy.

Virtually every main character in Game of Thrones has killed ‘evil men’ and we’ve cheered them on. By this logic, every viewer is ‘culpable’.

I want to clarify that this is not about whether or not these characters were justified in their actions, it’s just a list to show that the characters and fans gaslighting Daenerys are not and never were morally superior.

The point of this list is to prove that Daenerys is not that different from anyone else where morality is concerned, except that no one ever gave her the benefit of the doubt or considered whether or not her actions were justified.

What was Dany accused of prior to 8x05? (By characters and fans):

  • Having a temper
  • Killing her enemies in battle
  • Executing enemies
  • Executing traitors
  • Taking revenge
  • Executing ‘evil’ men guilty of what she deems a crime (slave owners)
  • Using a method of execution that ‘makes people uncomfortable’ (fire)
  • Not preventing her brother’s murder and not being sad enough as it happened

These are the things that the fans and the men conspiring against her insist were warning signs that she was ‘going mad’.

This is going to be a long, ugly post that will probably cost me some followers, but simply typing them out is not good enough because most fans have shorter memories than goldfish. Y’all need visuals.

No, I’m not bothering to put it under a cut either, because I’m trying to prove a point and the fact that it’s long only helps my case. 👍

Let’s take a look at the deeds of the oh-so-morally-superior characters, shall we?

Jaime Lannister oathbreaking by slaying his king

Jaime Lannister attempted to murder a child

Jaime Lannister murdered Jory Cassel

Jaime Lannister killed his enemies in battle, tried to murder Daenerys in battle

Arya Stark very brutally tore off the face of the Waif and put it on display

Bran Stark warged into Hodor against his will

Bran Stark, who confirms he is aware of the future, moved the chess pieces around to maximize lives lost so that he could seize power

Let’s take a look at other characters who are held in higher moral esteem than Daenerys Targaryen (prior to 8x05):

Robb Stark executed Rickard Karstark for disobeying him

Robb Stark knowingly sent thousands of his men to their deaths for a victory

Robb Stark killed his enemies in battle

Ned Stark executed a man for what he deemed a crime (Will)

Ned Stark killed his enemies in battle

Sandor Clegane murdered a child on an order

Tormund Giantsbane killed innocents in raids

Ygritte killed innocents (including women) in raids

Melisandre burned non-believers alive

Melisandre burned an innocent child alive

Stannis and Selyse Baratheon consented to murdering their child

Melisandre and Stannis burned a man alive for refusing to bend the knee

Melisandre and Stannis Baratheon (kinslaying) his brother via shadow demon

This list ain’t even exhaustive. This is just the shit I came up with off the top of my head!

Want to claim Daenerys Targaryen was always foreshadowed to be mad? Cool!

Now just admit everyone else in the series was foreshadowed as mad, too.

Hi, I wondered what your thoughts on Arya are? I hate what they did with her in show, especially since I always imagined her and dany hitting it off. It always felt weird to me that a big part of her character is empathetic and that never really came across in the show to me. Especially this season where she came across as xenophobic, when that feels the opposite of what she is in the books.

100% THIS.

Arya is my baby girl. She’s my first ASoIaF love. Arya in the books is friendly, curious, open. She loves learning new things! She learns languages with the faceless men, admires women of all walks of life, not just highborn ones. She loves a good warrior queen story. Nymeria, anyone.

There’s absolutely no goddamn reason Arya shouldn’t have looked at Daenerys with motherfucking hearteyes. Here’s a woman who has conquered cities, who rides at the head of a khalasar, who proves that being a “lady” isn’t synonymous with being “subservient.” And Dany? Think about how she does on Missandei, and the children she takes as “hostages” in Meereen. Dany, who is starved for female companionship and friendship.

Fuck that.

It’s in the interactions between the women of the series that make it glaringly obvious this was written by men. Can’t have pretty girls in a room together! Catfight! I’m gonna blindly hate foreigners, despite spending my formative years in a foreign country!

Well a new interview confirmed that D&D talked with Martin before star writing the finale and he tell them the finale of each character so yeah, Martin planned too the mad queen dany who must be stopped by Jon

Okay, for any anon out there who wants to make a claim like this, give me links. Or at least tell me which publication has the interview so I can find it, myself. I’m not aware of every interview going on around there, especially not this week. 🤷

As always, this is not me defending GRRM, this bastardized finale OR promising that his ending will be different. Just that there’s still a chance, that’s all!:

“I gave my baby up for adoption and it’s not my baby anymore. But the books are still my baby. I don’t think [Game of Thrones show-runners] Dan and Dave’s ending is gonna be that different from my ending because of the conversations we did have.” (x)

(meaning, he didn’t actually know their ending)

Only the books are canon.” (x)

Nothing is actually canon until it appears in the novel. I’ve made this point with some of the spin-off products. Some of the gaming products want to use my notes or some materials I have. I’ve allowed that, but I caution them that I’m still telling the story. If I change it, the version in the books is canon. The spin-off products are fun, but not canon.” (x)

“Of course you have an emotional reaction. I mean, would I prefer they do it exactly the way I did it? Sure. It can also be… traumatic. Because sometimes their creative vision and your creative vision don’t match, and you get the famous creative differences thing — that leads to a lot of conflict.” (x)

Lastly, the official statement he made on his website after the GoT finale:

“How will it all end? I hear people asking. The same ending as the show? Different? Well… yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. Book or show, which will be the ‘real’ ending? It’s a silly question. How many children did Scarlett O'Hara have?” (x)

Daenerys Targaryen is the best representation of how the Patriarchy treats women I’ve ever seen:

- Being sidelined and having a man taking credit for her achievements | Mileva Marić (Albert Einstein’s first wife)

- Being seen as a harlot who uses her sexuality to control powerful men | Cleopatra

- Being gaslighted into “insanity” because of her anger and anguish of seeing her life work stolen by a man | Camille Claudel

- Being demonized so a man can look heroic killing her (or ordering her death) | Anne Boleyn

- Being portrayed as a evil tyrant while being equally violent to her male counterparts | Wu Zetian

- Being murdered by her male lover | Nancy Spungen

- Her good achievements being demonized and erased from History by her successors | Hatshepsut

The finale aired on the anniversary of Anne Boleyn’s murder.
