New (but old) langblr 🌞

Hej!

So it seems like I’m back. My name is Ida and I used to have the blog @organizedstudy but now I’m here @linguenuvolose (cloudy languages). I felt like I needed a fresh start (and my langblr to be my main blog lmao) so here’s my introduction post I guess?

Some facts about me 🌻

  • I’m turning 22 at the end of the summer
  • She/her pronouns
  • I live in Sweden but I’m debating moving back to Italy soon
  • I speak Swedish, English, Italian, French and some Dutch
  • I would really like to learn German, Maltese and Old Norse
  • I have bachelor’s degree in Italian and wrote my thesis on Italian loanwords in Swedish
  • I love linguistics, specifically historical and contact linguistics
  • I really like plants, art history, excel, cross-stitching and going on walks

This blog 🌺

I’ll do my best to make this blog a fun mix of languages, culture and linguistics! I’ll throw it back to some 2016 langblr shit with vocab lists and sharing my progress and I really hope this new start will make me start studying languages some more again. If you have any questions, post suggestions or requests please feel free to send an ask!

I also have an Instagram and a YouTube channel

Take care!

Yes, I’m still on a hiatus (and it feels so good!! I kinda love not being on tumblr) but I made a little video about my degree if you’re interested in watching it! I talk about why I chose this degree, my favorite aspects of it, my year abroad, my thesis and future plans among other things.Take care! ❤

Swedes hearing about how some danish companies planned* to dump untreated sewage water in the Öresund strait, which are the waters between Denmark and Sweden

*plans which are now cancelled because of protests

Translation: stop the danish plan to release poo in the Öresund. Their poo could float up on swedish shores! If the danes don't stop these plans, then shall we in sweden shall too, send the amount of swedish poo water towards danish shores

Translation: how shall we in sweden send back the same amount of poo waters towards the danes? In the worst case scenario, we must hand it over at the danish embassy in sweden.

[this protest was defintly written with him our on porpuse, and it just vaguelly amuse me how this entire thing made

1. Swedes tell poo jokes like we are 4 year olds

2. Treat this as CLEARLY as a part of a danish poo conpiracy aimed at sweden, and not like. This would equally impact us both if had happened

Source:

https://www.mittskifte.org/petitions/stoppa-det-danska-bajsvattnet

Like how exactly shall sweden "send an equal amount of poo towards denmark" without just.

Destroying for ourselves too?

I guess that what the embassy plan was for, in this internet petition 🤷

‘Statues are not the mechanism by which we understand history. We learn history through museums, through books, through television programmes. Statues are about adoration. They are about saying that this man was a great man and he did great things. That is not true. He was a slave trader and a murderer.’

- historian David Olusoga on BBC News, regarding the statue of Edward Colston being pulled down by BLM protestors in Bristol, and the “erasing history” argument used to criticise the act.

Just reading the name “Bonifacio VIII” makes me go blind with rage. Im suddenly a Florentine poet from the XIV century who just got exiled from his beloved city because of that motherfucker and CANT WAIT to put him in Hell in the epic religious poem hes writing.
