"Are you inviting me into your bed, Tav?" 

The directness took Tav by surprise, her bright eyes snapping to his. She was left speechless, and Halsin filled the panicked silence with a deep laugh that rumbled in his chest. She noticed a few Harpers turn their heads at the sound, surprised at the pleasant sound amidst so much darkness and despair. She and Halsin had flirted before, of course, but it had always been a “maybe later” sort of thing, both of them too bound by duty to be really thinking of such personal endeavors. Now though, the way his eyes raked over her form had her nerves on edge.

"Forgive my laughing, but your face turns the most lovely shade of cherry red when you are teased, little one," he smiled easily, gently, like there was no looming darkness around them. "If you are indeed offering to share, I would be grateful for a soft bed, and would not expect anything further…should you not wish it."

Tav felt like she was on overload - the nickname he had given to her made her blush more, and he had purposefully put the ball in her court. 

“Right, then, well, good, I mean, um, good that we could, uhh, agree to share,” Tav replied. Halsin smiled gently as she took a step back from the table, aware that she could barely string a sentence together. “I’m just going to, uh, wash off the goblin blood from my boots, then I’ll be turning in.”

“See you soon, then,” Halsin nodded. Tav scurried away like a scared mouse, her heart pounding in her throat.
