We have seen Yukine's journey toward acceptance of the life that was robbed of him many times in the manga. However, this time you can tell it is pretty different as it seems final. The heaviness of having to accept an early and unjustified death has been portrayed beautifully in the entirety of his character arc.

Yukine finally accepting the reality of his death. Yukine stepping out from the fridge that contained memories of what was once his life. Yukine freeing himself from the shackles of his trauma. Yukine running to protect the person he cherished the most in the world. Yukine standing up to an abusive father. Yukine wholeheartedly apologizing. Yukine's acceptance and growth and Yato stretching his little arms to pull him for a sincere hug.

Yukine's gratitude for what Yato did for him is evident throughout the series. He was given a name more precious than any other. He was treated like a human--an ordinary teenage boy. And life after that was one exciting journey after another. Now, Yukine can no longer be entirely consumed by the horrors of his past because he knows that his reality with Yato is so much brighter. Far brighter.

Yukine could break out from that refrigerator because of the true, sincere, and nurturing love shown by the only father figure in his life. Yato has said multiple times throughout the series that Yukine was his priority above all else, and Yukine was the only person he swore to protect the most. Yato did not need to summon Yukine. Yukine came to protect Yato on his own decision. As he always did.

The journey to their healing will be painful, and this chapter shows that Yato and Yukine will face it together. No more secrets and no more miscommunication. They will help and be by each other's side as they always have, not only as god and shinki but, this time, as family.

"I will not let him die. Not Yato. No matter what happens... I swear I won't let anyone take him from me!" -Yukine, Noragami Vol. 17 Chapter 67.

Noragami Meta Masterpost (V3)

Some meta and adjacent thoughts may no longer hold up to canon or my current thoughts on the manga, this is just an archive of my Noragami-related posts to date.

Apparently, Tumblr decided to somehow eat my last meta masterpost (or I accidentally deleted it, lol) so, here’s V3.

Rin’s birthday story

I can hear Haru’s breathing from the lane next to me. The water is hot.

This is a dream. I know that. But I kept swimming anyway. Haru’s pulse echoes through the water and I cut through that water with a rough stroke. My breathing naturally sped up. It’s the first time I’ve felt this in a while. Even after I woke up from the dream, I felt a bit dazed from the after effects of it for a while.

UTAPRI SONG CHALLENGE 8: DAY DREAM or NIGHT DREAM

The second Shining Dream CD photoshoot was in full swing. This year, STARISH and QUARTET NIGHT returned as models and spokesmen of the agency’s affiliated fashion brand, BRIGHT SHINE. The new fashion line was called Day Dream and Night Dream. However, they were not the main face of the series - but the brand specifically asked for the newly debuted Yukimoto Aya to be the centre.

As this was her first serious modelling job, the first person she approached was, of course, Ren - who had the most modelling experience under his belt. Camus was a close second, but it may not have been the best time to hear the words, “You peasant,” from the Permafrost Noble. When she expressed her worries, he only gave an benign smile and affectionately pinched her nose.

“Just relax, kotori-chan.”

Translation Kyoani of memorial video

(I’m posting pictures so it’s long and I’ll put it under the cut)

As of today, one year has passed since the incident that happened last year on July 18th.

Normally we would want to get together in a place where we could be close to all of you to mourn, but because the recent novel virus, we must avoid gathering in large crowds and so we were not able to.

For today, we’re using this video as a place for people to come to mourn so please utilize it.
