There was so little they could do against someone with superior skill. All who had attempted to invade the garage were rendered corpses before much more damage could be done to the building. Luckily, the boat hadn't sustained any despite the momentary chaos.

Beyond the stretch of darkness, his question would be greeted with only the remnants of wood and small debris losing its grip to fall into the abyss beyond. Clanks of boards slapping against walls would echo only to create a much more muffled sound as it struck the ground.

The tiniest hint of light would begin to illuminate a spot just within view. Movement, though slow, and mildly disoriented would follow before the image of Jez' visage peering up would become more apparent. Albeit streaked with a bit of blood from the fall.

Image

"I'm alright." She called. Her words a touch slurred, feeding into the fact she'd likely hit her head at some point during the unexpected drop. "I'm --" dragging her legs closer, a hand would reach up to touch against sanguine along her hairline. Wincing lightly as she does so.

It was a straight shot down with no means of climbing back out. The walls looked frail at best, and judging by the crumbled chunks falling free of it, it'd be extremely bad to try to climb it. But based on the way light spread around Jez from her little origami box, she may have fallen into some kind of tunnel.

Eyes fixate swiftly 'pon the dainty emitting of light from below, his own feet poised directly 'pon the edge of the apparently deep hole. That it was there at all, Vincent had not know, and to take a stumble down it now of all times - - - well, he was beginning to think the two of them simply carried intensely rotten luck.

He waits but a few more seconds, drawing in a breath to call again ere he is paused in his motions by the receiving of a call back. Relief flooded his system, his own person hopping to another point upon the holes circumference in order to attempt to get a better look but given the distance down, and the intense darkness, 't was a difficult endeavour.

Image

"Mind yourself- I'll come down." And thus swiftly did he collect his usual belongings, a second weapon and a pair of gloves and make himself ready. He would hesitate, however, and wait until he was certain that Jez was no longer directly underneath the hole itself; the last thing they needed was for a collision upon landing.

Tifa’s eyes widened at this news, her cheeks heating up. β€œOh, really?” she replied, surprised. Warmth filled her at the idea of having him closer.

Image

β€œAlright. We can check one out along the way. I have some ideas of where we can go, where it’s not too expensive.” Buildings were being renovated and upgraded for housing, thanks to the WRO. If nothing else, she could contact Reeve and get some inside info for Vincent, too.

Clearing their plates, Tifa gave him a warm smile. β€œI’ll be ready to go after these are handled.”

He nods, the contemplation for an apartment in Edge as well as what he would consider his home in Kalm returned. It would make it easier as far as travelling went, for aiding the WRO and for visiting Tifa - - and it was the latter that had finally swayed his decision at all.

Image

"No rush." He smiles, brief but genuine; the long length of fingers reaching for coffee cups to follow behind Tifa in removing them. Truthfully, the idea of purchasing an apartment and furnishing it was... overwhelming; but in the long term, Vincent knew, it would be a comfortable poise. Having it there after long days, or weeks, working for Reeve would be a welcome sight, erasing his need to always travel back to Kalm.

He waits, patiently; quietly adjusting his gloves - but eyes never once remove themselves from the woman he loved so very dearly.

Tifa smiled at his initial response. She imagined him like a large dog following Vincent, the man’s cloak billowing in the air behind him and his face full of annoyance. It was amusing to picture.

Image

β€œI bet what you see is beautiful,” she said, remembering all the spots she saw when they traversed Gaia years before.

Blinking at his next words, she gasped. β€œYou…you can do that?” she asked in wonder. β€œIt would make things easier.”

Indeed, Chaos saw many beautiful things across the planet be them in the sky, on the land or beneath the sea; much was yet hidden, many beauties sealed away from the populace likely never to be seen.

Image

"... I can." Shifting into something more human would make his learning easier, but it would be a weaker version of himself. It was something he had thought about, something he had wondered if it was the best idea- for learning, entirely dipping ones self into the culture would be beneficial.

"Do you think... it would be a good idea?"

Except -- There'd be no backdoor by the time she crossed the threshold. A barrage of bullets tore through the garage, causing a fountain of debris to come tumbling down around where she stood. Wood cracking and snapping before giving way with only a whisper of the immediate gasp that escaped Jezebel.

It wasn't the roof that had caved in, however, but the floor. With a tall, lanky form stood over the opening, holding a large, imposing looking Gatling gun atop his shoulder. Eyes piercing and smile maniacal, raising the gun towards where Vincent stood, "Don't sound like the bitch hit bottom yet."

Image

Meanwhile, the dual curved blades would find purchase in the door again. This time a little higher, twisting and tearing as if to try and rend the wood from the nails to force entry into the garage. Whoever they were, they were ruthless with thick fingers prying their way through the openings it made between the slats. If they can't just open the door, they were going to rip it away to gain entry.

'T is through his peripheral vision that Vincent sees his company disappear downward with quite the mighty crash - the fixation of his eyes flicking betwixt the firearm he's gradually loading and the fracturing door before his eyes. One deep breath and he's honed in on those surrounding, the quick movement of his gun between targets one he had practiced time and time again to get right - - and such was only aided by his inhuman ability.

Two 'pon the other side of the door are shot, his person quick to get himself out of the way of the fellow at the back door, avoiding being entirely neutralised by the ferocity of the gatling gun. He needs only wait while a good number of his own fellows are slaughtered by his fire ere Vincent slips in and takes a simple headshot.

Image

A mildly agitated sigh sounded, his person briefly brushing debris off of his person as he paced towards the rather gigantic hole in the floor;

"...Jez-?" He calls, straining his ears to listen. Even just by sight the sheer depth looked nigh infinite; the expanding darkness beneath not unlike that in which he held within himself.

Ah yes, people-watching. Something that Genesis did find himself indulging in every now and again. Well, how could he fault the man for that? One could learn a great deal simply from observing one's surroundings.

Image

Genesis responded with an amused scoff, nodding in agreement.

"Well, that is true enough." He reached for the crystal glass of brandy, taking a slow sip before looking back towards his company with marked interest. Even through the light veil of auburn that hung over one eye, the mako blue glow still shone through.

"Go on, indulge me. What manner of intriguing tales have you overheard?"

The rim of the wineglass is briefly touched by the tip of a gloved finger, eyes fixated on the dark liquid within ere he draws another taste; consciousness reeling over possible candidates for what he could speak of.

Image

"...Plenty of infidelities, arguments, the odd mention of smuggling." Those were rather average; "Talk, recently betwixt a few raiding factions, however, have mentioned a bizarre dark green materia having been discovered." He knew of one person who would have been immensely interested in such a fact, or perhaps it was idle fiction - - but it was interesting enough. "They say it appears as if it has some kind of spiritual serpent swimming within."

His warmth along her waist was welcomed and she smiled, leaning into the touch comfortably.

Image

β€œAlright, I will.” Since he seemed to insist. β€œI promise not to run you ragged like Yuffie would.” Or even Aerith. She frowned slightly at the memory of her dear friend. She wished Aerith could see the world healing, her friends healing. Maybe she could, but it wasn’t the same.

His kiss made her sadness melt away and she smiled. β€œWas there anywhere in mind you wanted to go, first?”

Eyes closed, a moment taken to bask in closeness and warmth shared. 'T is these times turned to memories that Vincent uses to remind himself of those that wait for him, that want him around and although its something that takes time, Vincent has been visiting more.

The mention of Yuffie bought a brief chuckle from the depths of his throat, knowing full well that if she had been there she would have absolutely ran him ragged, back and forth with her excitement and likely his bank card, too. He'd only just gripped the idea of putting his pin number in when paying for things - - - and she had been trying to tell him about something called contactless?

Image

"Naught of preference." Frankly, he minded not simply having a wander around, heading in wherever took their fancy. "...perhaps a moment to glance in the window of one of the estate agents. I've been... contemplating getting an apartment in Edge." Because Kalm was rather a way to travel, even for he, when tired for beyond exhausted. But it was those times he wanted to be around those he loved the most... Maybe a second home wouldn't hurt.

β€œMm.”

She was quiet for a few minutes, lost in her own thoughts. His existence sounded very lonely.

Image

β€œWhere do you go when not visiting us?” she asked, curious. β€œAre there spots around the Planet you like to travel to?”

"I sometimes follow Vincent." Which was a given, really. Though the gunman may have been free of the Harbinger in a physical sense, the two of them did still share quite the bond and the other certainly did get up to some interesting things. Chaos enjoyed tagging along from time to time.

Image

"... I like to find waterfalls... or caves full of glowing crystals. Finding the highest places to sit and watch life go by." Momentarily does he fidget on the sand, digging his clawed hands into the texture just to feel it; "I listen to her. The planet - she whispers sometimes... about disguises; that I should hide myself among the people and learn more. Maybe that... would be less lonely."

Seated by the cliffside, Weiss occupied himself by maintaining his gunblades. Didn't think he'd be the first to arrive here- or maybe, Valentine was skulking somewhere in the tree tops and hadn't made himself known yet.

Image

The jungle was quiet at this hour, whatever rustling and brushing in the leaves there was, low and distant. A peace broken, instantly. Birds take to the skies to escape, their caws alarming all other creatures in the forest. A roar bellows, far away and still ringing in his ears. "Sounds like the thing we're after, doesn't it?" A peak thrown over his shoulder, where he could now see the Ex-Turk stand. Ever one for enigmatic entrances, wasn't he.

Time had been taken to warn nearby WRO members ere heading to the agreed rendezvous - agitated beasts were one thing, his coloured Tsviet companion quite another. 'T would be easier, for the both of them, if there were no others to get in the way; innocents kept to one side in the hopes of avoiding unnecessary casualty. As was his way-

Image

Slow and purposeful had been his approach, the softened crunch of leaf litter and dried branches beneath sabatons mayhap the only noise Valentine made as he slinked through the sights, finally pausing on arrival.

"You presume correctly." Eyes briefly observe; one might ascertain that he'd disturbed a moment of peace for his company, a rarity - he personally knew - but naught could be done. "...I imagine your preference is to simply take the beast head on-?" It's a guess, one he presumes based entirely on past behaviour he had seen, but ever was Vincent open to being entirely wrong.

"I have doubts it shall put up much of a challenge, especially for yourself - - so why not make it more interesting and accept a handicap?" Quite what, he wasn't yet sure, but this was not just an exercise in defeating the threat to the city, but in hopefully proving that there is enjoyment to be found in battles with lesser creatures - - one simply had to alter its situation.

Honestly, editing upwards of 1200 icons individually is killing me off - and that doesn't include rebirth ones because I haven't even made those yet-- but they're turning out so nicely that its kinda motivating me through a little bit at a time.

I've got a terrible headache but I'm here to at least try and write some drafts - - or some scribbles on said drafts. I find it oddly difficult to concentrate anywhere until I feel like its *done* and at the moment Vincent still has pending things for me to do so it's a little bit difficult tbh-! But I shall try!

I'm honestly really looking forward to throwing out a new promo and starter calls.
