Hey fellow Pokemon fans, can I ask a question?

How many pokemon do you technically need to “catch” to complete the pokedex? Like how many individual pokemon do you need to catch to so you can evolve/breeds for their other forms (that includes copies of the same pokemon to evolve different lines like Tyrogue and the hitmo lines, polliwog with politoed, oddish with bellossom/viloplume, etc) to complete the pokedex, legendaries excluded.

I believe that with the first generation, you’d only need to catch 81 individual pokemon to complete the dex, excluding the legendaries, and with the added lines added via later generations, from those pokemon i can get 178 pokemon. But i really don’t have the time/patience/skill to try to figure out the entire poked up to generation 6

Please help me with this, this question has been plaguing me with pokemon for a long time, but i don’t want to say i’ve spent time guessing how many pokemon i need to “catch” rather than actually playing the games.

Ps. If you guys wants, just email me if you want any pokemon (non legendary) from pokemon games up to alpha sapphire(can’t do pokemon x/y because my broke while i was still playing sadly)
