not to be pretentious, but a lot of stuff you guys complain is being ruined by capitalism/the algorithm/whatever can be solved by consuming something else than the most basic mainstream stuff that's thrown in your lap. "songs nowadays are getting shorter to fit entire tiktoks and it's ruining music" have you tried listening to something else than Spotify's Top 100 my dude? "fanfiction-to-publishing pipeline is churning out mediocre books and it's ruining literature" have you tried reading something outside the NYT bestseller list my dude? This is not a post about how algorithm based industries give visibility to the lowest common denominator art at the expense of actually creative and meaningful art that struggles to make itself known, which is a valid discussion for another time, this is about people actively not giving this kind of art their visibility because they won't get out of their way to discover stuff outside the mainstream radar and prefer to be passively fed what to consume while bitching that is not up to their tastes.

There'a a character named Vivian in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door who we only know is trans because one of her sisters constantly misgenders her. Her character arc includes her standing up to her sisters and learning to respect herself while travelling with Mario. In the English localisation they made her sister mean and removed the transphobia, thereby also removing all references to her gender identity. There is a remake releasing soon, if the transphobia is back that means that they've decided to put the trans rep (that was once absent from the english release) back in.

ive seen people before clown on the sentiment of "i wish there were Persona games but about adults" or "i wish there were shonen battle manga but about women" with like Oh You Stupid Idiot. Those Will Never Exist!!!! as if "i wish there was x but y" wasnt one of the classic powerful creative drives

The only way to stop misinformation and avoid inadvertently spreading radical rhetoric is to stop sharing things you haven't personally looked into.

It sucks, especially with the state of the world right now, but before you reblog something:

i know it sucks, I know you want to be engaged. But there is rampant misinformation on this site, and it is better to not share anything than to spread lies.

I get (and mostly agree with) the posts on here talking about the importance of physical media vs digital but sometimes the tone of like 'if it's physical media you'll always have it unlike digital media' you get in these posts is deeply silly like this is in fact something that's notably famously not true of physical media actually. you can quite literally lose everything by only having physical media. both is good etc etc.

2. disboard is a great place to find to find rp servers, so is tumblr “look up *insert fandom* rp” and you’ll probably find one. if not, make one! i’m sure you have friends who want to join
