and i’m not just saying this to be an asshole, sexual orientation is a social construct that was historically created to medicalise, criminalise and kill gay and bisexual people

lesbian, gay and bisexual movements? were created to stand up to that oppression, reclaim and redefine the labels that were forced onto us and fight for our lives, our safety and our dignity

these historical labels and movements exist because they are how we survived, they are why we are here and why we have the rights that we do. so when you redefine sexual orientation to mean not who you’re attracted to but how, you’re just displaying your ignorance of historical and societal context of gay, lesbian and bisexual communities and your ignorance of why they are still vital for us today

building identity and community around who you’re attracted to? vital to our organising, activism, communities and survival

building identity around how you’re attracted to people? self indulgent, individualist and politically completely useless

I feel so called out

yknow theres a lot of pressure to be successful, particularly on artsy kids whose professions are seen as useless unless theyre famous, but life is fucking hard and sometimes things dont turn out

but i think thats not bad. my dad has wanted to be a musician forever, and hes rly pretty good. but then he joined the military to get away from an abusive family, and then he got married, and then he got divorced, and a lot of horrible shit HAPPENED. he has ptsd and severe anxiety and he could never really get back on the horse. and he never made it as a musician, and now hes 53

but i grew up in a house full of instruments, and he can play all of them, and some of my earliest memories are of him playing guitar on the front porch and me thinking there wasnt a better musician in the world. so. even if you dont get to the stars, exactly, what you do isnt worthless. its not a waste of time if life is difficult and you cant make it, or if you arent famous, or if your work doesn’t influence thousands of people. it will influence someone

there are a million ways to be happy and a million ways to be a successful artist. we create what we do to enhance the human experience and relate to each other and improve ourselves. theres something to be said for just doing that,,,for the sake of doing it, yknow

Watching people… use their mental health… get out of/ away with things… makes me so..

My art teacher in grade 8 had ADHD and was Bipolar on top of that and on the first day of class the first thing he told us was that sometimes he would yell at us without really meaning to. And he told us that if it ever happened to call him out because his mental illness didn’t give him the excuse to treat us like shit.

Mental health issues (as well as some other disabilities) EXPLAIN your behavior, but it doesn’t EXCUSE your behavior.

every time i look at the mystery gang i have this like visceral feeling that someone is missing. but nobody ever is. who are they. what happened to them

logically i know this is them. these are the only people in the mystery gang. fred, daphne, velma, shaggy, and scooby. thats the 5 of them. but something deep within my lizard brain is telling me theres a 6th member that has been, for unknown reasons, banished from this timeline and our collective memory as a species
