Following an autistic girl and getting mad when she posts about star trek. Do you get mad at plants for growing. Do you yell at the sun for shining

Rooster Teeth Archive Update!

I just wanted to shout out all of the people over at Archive of Pimps who've worked so hard on archiving 21 years of content across the RT site and YouTube channels. With the Rooster Teeth site shutting down in just about a week (on May 15, 2024), and the future of the YT channels unknown, this was a massive undertaking to quickly preserve a metric fuckton of content before it could be lost forever. So much media has been lost because of bad storage practices, lack of foresight, and (most critically) corporate greed, so I seriously applaud those folks for working so diligently to get this done.

The Rooster Teeth archive can be found here

You can read MrSheen's full reddit post about the archive here

(there are still about 1800 videos missing from the archive, if you've ever saved any RT content and want to see if you can help, you can join the Archive of Pimps discord here)

Why do people need subtitles to watch a show in English? I don't get it. What is wrong with the ears of young people?

Modern movies and shows tend to have very unbalanced mixing. Also, a common trend in modern movies is more realistic dialogue (mumbling) that is not as crisp as it was in previous eras of film making.

Going from “celebrations on the streets of Rafah as Hamas accepts ceasefire deal” to “Israel chooses to continue offensive in Rafah and is currently carrying out targeted attacks” within the span of an hour is the most viscerally heartbroken I’ve been throughout the past months

I'll be honest, my alleged hardware expertise mostly consists of the ability to correctly plug in things which are designed to only fit one way. That this genuinely appears to be a rare skill is a little concerning!

(i.e., the problem with trying to idiot-proof hardware components by designing them so that the plugs and sockets are non-interchangeable and can't be inserted backwards or upside down is that there are a very large number of people whose initial impulse, upon being confronted with a component that doesn't seem to fit, is not to check whether they have it upside down, but to assert their dominance over the machine with as much force as their body can muster.)

Does not help that cables are made of gossamer moonlight. Every failed attempt to plug something in presents a terrible choice: twist the cable and hasten its inevitable demise, or force it and risk damaging the port.

I would be overjoyed if people only did this with cables. Cables are easily replaceable, and the sockets they plug into only slightly less so if you're handy with a soldering iron. Do you have any idea how many people I've run into who've literally broken a desktop PC's motherboard in half trying to jam their shiny new PCI-e video card into a fucking DIMM slot?

I've had someone tell me that building a pc is easy, because the pieces fit together like Lego.

Lego, which has a famously universal fit, where you can stick any piece in any place and be reasonably certain it will go there without breaking.

I have genuinely seen people manage to find ways that Lego doesn't fit and proceed to break the pieces trying to force-fit them, so I'm not sure that's a strike against the analogy.
