It makes me so upset that both the marvels and blue beetle has been treated like shit by their studios and by the fandoms that the studio have created . Like both did poorly in box office but that was not the fault of the movies itt was the fault of the studios absolutely doing nothing to premote the movies during the strikes and also the fandom (white af) being Jackasses about the films.

Brie iman teyonah and xolo deserve so much better and a fucking major apology for what happened by the studio 😔😔😔😔

racism and sexism totally have a part to play in it too though. like yes the studios are shit for not properly advertising it but like theres this deep set hatred of people of color in the comics fandom. like Monica Rambeau has always been Black, Jaime Reyes has always been a brown Latino, Kamala Khan has always been Desi and muslim. white people are constantly saying they don't want white characters racebent anymore (Iris West Allen, Ariel from the Little mermaid etc). but when presented with actual characters of color white people claim its a woke agenda thats them.

Like its just really frustrating superhero movies are finally super inclusive (racially at least) and now the whites are nowhere to be found.

and before anyone comes into our inbox to complain about this just look at how well Barbie did in theaters.

Collaborative writing is a labor of love. What if it could be easier?

Think connected drafts, not disconnected files.

Think effortless version history and control.

Think in-document chat.

Far away from the prying eyes of AI and LLMs.

Ellipsus is a new writing tool for people who write together!

Two new features have arrived this week: Comments and Dark Mode! :D

We’re looking for feedback from folks who care a lot about writing.

A resource to help promote inclusivity, for moodboards, headers, etc.

Given the topic of diversity in visual fanworks that’s come up, I started a Pinterest with various themes to help making finding diverse images easier. You can find it here. Please check source links and credit the creators of you decide to use. If you recognize a creator that isn’t linked, please send me their user so I can credit them below.

A few themes below:

HYPER FEMME/GIRLY/ETC

COTTAGECORE

ROCK/GRUNGE/ALT/ETC

COUPLES/WEDDING/ETC

PLUS SIZE

There’s also a NERD/PREP/CHEERLEADER board and I may start a few others. There isn’t a ton up since I did this pretty quickly, but it’s a good starting point. It would be nice to find images with different types of poc as well. Let me know if you have any suggestions for what other tropes/themes to explore. I don’t have a ton of free time outside of my full-time job, so if you want to become a collaborator on any of these boards let me know!

Okay... what are you trying to say? That your idols being xenophobic and transphobic is not important becos it has nothing to do with the Palestinian liberation movement?? What are you trying to say?? I hate reactionary "leftists" who are in it for some sense of moral and intelellectual superiority and who don't seem to realise that our struggles are interconnected and have 0 solidarity with other marginalised groups. Believe it or not I think Palestinians deserve better allies than a xenophobic, transphobic asshole.

It's so fucking crazy how responses to criticism of this guy have this fucking theme:

The idea that we cannot criticize our idols becos we "need" them, apparently 😑 It's the erasure of scholarship and activism by Palestinians (who actually have front row seats to their own oppression btw) to make this guy appear to be the most important guy in the movement 😑 In other words:

Also imagine making the bold faced claim that this White American man of Polish descent is the "foremost expert on the oppression of the Palestinian people" and not, ya know? The actual Palestinians being bombed on the ground or their families in the diaspora who have to bear witness to it? 😑😑 Imagine making a White man the face of Palestinian oppression... yall really hate listening to Brown people on their own suffering...😑😑

I’m really glad that Aaron’s self-immolation for Palestine is getting attention, but on November 8th there was also a Congolese man who did the same thing for the genocide happening in the DRC. From what I read in the article above, his fate and identity are unknown but I think his story should be getting equal amount of traction and I haven’t really seen anyone talking about it on Tumblr specifically yet.

If you comment on some fanfics and not others, pick an answer that applies most commonly to when you don't comment.

Results are in!

Thank you for taking this poll. The responses here and in the notes were really interesting and have inspired my next project for the LongLiveFeedback blog. So, announcing:

Commenting 101

This is a six-step action plan that is geared towards taking you from "I never know what to say in a comment" to "I always leave a comment." In short, if you are in the 62% and want to move into the 10% of superheroes that always leave a comment to fanfic authors, I've devised the following lesson plan:

  1. Find your catchphrase
  2. Describe the indescribable
  3. Quote. Or paraphrase
  4. Express interest
  5. Talk about your favourite
  6. Put it together

Because commenting is a learned skill, these "lessons" will be tips on How To Comment and are designed to help you practice commenting and build up your commenting muscle until it's second nature to you. I'll post a lesson each weekend and your job is to commit to writing comments from that lesson during the week.

Participation is voluntary and you get to grade yourself at the end of the course, but I will be soliciting feedback at the end of each lesson-week.

So if this sounds good to you, let's have some fun experimenting and finding a commenting style that works for you!

Without further ado, here's Lesson 1: Find your catchphrase.
