the station getting a emotional support/therapy dog- they call her Tuesday, because they all suck at names and they got her on a Tuesday -to help out after the rougher calls, but everybody noticing that when Tuesday’s not needed elsewhere, she’s always hanging out around Buck. at first, they all just assume it’s because Buck’s her favourite- he’s good with animals, has a soft spot for them, just like he does with kids - and it’s not until one day, while Buck’s sitting on the sofa with Tuesday at his feet, tense and stiff and staring at nothing in particular, looking slightly lost while Tuesday whines softly, nudging her nose at him until he finally raises a hand to sink into her fur, stroking and petting until he visibly relaxes and she rests her head in his lap, that they realise she’s actually just been doing her job the whole time. that Buck’s gotten way to good at hiding behind forced smiles and fake laughter.
