Art Blog, sketches, finished pieces, mostly Greek Mythology (Among Gods) but you'll also find plenty of nerdy things.

So...not dead...just mentally defeated.

A few months back I lost my computer, I lost 3 years' worth of art, I lost 2 years' worth of Among Gods, 7 episodes that hadn't been published yet...I fell into a very dark hole, mentally shut down.

On top of that, the work industry has also fallen into...darkness, with all the industry strikes, so many entertainment industry professional lost their jobs, It has been MONTHS since the strikes ended but still work has not returned.

So. I am trying to get back, I will be continuing Among Gods, but I still need to grieve all the work that I've lost.

So here is my grief piece.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk!

Artist Alley Set up!!!!

So It's been about 2ish weeks since ATL Comic Con.

This was my very first artist alley event, and I am so proud of the work I've put into getting this set up. I have booked like 7 more events so far this year! This is something I have wanted to do for so long, but kept putting it off because I didn't think I was good enough to start. I got through those jitters and went for it!

Leading up to the convention, I was putting 80 some hours of work in each week between my actual job and convention prep and comic. I sacrificed my weekends to keep working and my family time so I could get everything I wanted done. This leads us to the actual convention...

Now, I was local to this convention, so I didn't have as high as expenses as many others did. But this convention was not run well, it was far too large for the audience that came, which was hardly any. This lead to a lot of self doubt during the show, because I was only making one to two sales. With reassurance from all the other artist, we kept trudging on. Sales picked up on the weekend, but so many artist lost money at this convention, I was lucky enough to break even, which for a first time convention is pretty awesome!

And fun fact, we sold OUT of pomegranate tote bags!! So those were the big sellers.

This was my very first convention, and I have a lot to learn still, and with each event I know I'll keep learning and refining my craft!

I was going to post a much longer, depressive rant but decided against it XD Now I have to work on getting my online store back up!! I shall end this before I rant on about something else!

Happy Wednesday!!

I've had a month, and I'd like to put that month into words some how. So Maybe I'll do that in a separate post. But I had gotten a bit down on myself after the convention with my art, because I didn't have time to post new art, or work as hard on my comic as I could be, I had been working overtime at work, and I haven't had a free weekend since January. So I went through a bit of depressive episode, and I decided to draw something to cheer me up. Which was Persephone hugging Cerberus. After a photoshop crash and losing a bunch of comic progress I decided to not go back to it and draw a counterpart of Hades with Cerberus.

Anyway. Moral of the story, this makes me happy. And I am no longer in a depressive state because I drew these two dorks with their puppy!

https://youtu.be/1CRdXiLx8b0 I've found this stop motion short from the UK that tells the story of Hades and Persephone. Honestly, I wish it was a full leghth film as the animation is gorgeous and I prefer it to LO any day of the week.

The animation is GORGEOUS HOLY SHIT! The faces, the gestures, and the transitions (like when Demeter's and nature's grief/transformation were shown) made me feel so many emotions! I really want to show some screenshots!

Just look at Persephone with her sweet muuuuum!!!

I am not even mad about the scene where Demeter snatches Eros by his wings and his ears, like a good old-fashioned Greek Mother, who then complains to her husband "why don't you notice me anymore!!" 😂😂 JUST LOOK AT THIS MASTERPIECE

"ΕΕΛΑ ΔΩ ΡΕ ΑΝΑΓΩΓΟ ΦΤΕΡΩΤΟ ΜΑΛΑΚΙΣΜΕΝΟΟ"

And the abduction scene was so good??? It showed everything without sugarcoating stuff the way we see today from 90% of the HxP "retellings". It didn't shy away from how scared Persephone was and how she cried for her mother, and it showed from her POV how terrifying Hades was at the moment. I know I am praising it for just following the source material, but that's rare nowadays in a market dominated by USAmerican media.

Hades has a little monstrous assistant that I am willing to accept as a Kalikantzaros (it would be kinda accurate since they live underground) and move on with my life xD I also buy the dialogues of Hades and Persephone, how they move and how they interact. In a few seconds, they showed all the complexity of their situation.

The way it shows Demeter looking around for her daughter in distress, it's chef's kiss! When Helios basically tells her "don't worry Persephone will be queen!" Demeter is like ΔΕ ΜΑΣ ΧΕΖΕΙΣ ΚΙ ΕΣΥ ΡΕ ΜΑΛΑΚΑ ΗΛΙΕ ΝΑ 'ΟΥΜ and then she goes to Zeus like ΔΕ ΣΟΥ ΕΙΠΑ ΡΕ ΑΑΑΑΧΡΗΣΤΕ, ΑΝΙΚΑΝΕ, ΔΙΠΡΟΣΩΠΕ, ΑΝΤΙΠΡΟΣΩΠΕ, ΝΑ ΜΗΝ ΚΑΝΕΙΣ ΤΙΠΟΤΑ;;;

AHAAHAHAHHA LOOK AT THAT FACE! And his complaints about his wife, typical boomer Greek stuff xD

There is the typical "the mother wants her daughter only for herself" which is a bit annoying as a trope but the rest is so good that I'll let it slide 😅 Like, mah dude, mah Hades, Demeter is not upset because she thinks Persephone should be hers. She is upset because her daughter was abduuuucted and she had no idea where she was or how she felt after that traumatic event. Go to some therapy stopMotion!Hades.

But DUUDE LOOK AT THAT WINTER COSTUME!! SLAY (please not literally) DEMETER!

I am overall very happy with this animation! I think someone had sent it to me before but I didn't have time to review it in depth back then. Sergei Olifirenko, well done! Anon, thank you for sending it!

Tote design ideas.

Okay so simple designs are best, with some Greek Myths sprinkled in.

Do you guys think these would be good to put on totes?

Update I pressed some totes last night to see how they would look. My printer muted the colors a bit. But overall I really like how they came out!!
