About Me
My name is Bailey, and I’ve been on tumblr since 2014. By day, I’m an English Teacher, candle maker, barista, and co-founder of an online publication company, www.triton.community (check it out, y’all 🌷)
I married my best friend April 2023. No kiddos yet, but that’s our hope some day!
I’m a protestant Christian (denomination is somewhere between Presbyterian and Baptist, but tbh at my old age I’m becoming less convinced that denominations matter a flying flip).
I’m nerdy as heck (anime, classic literature, video games, kids cartoons….. all the things).
Favorite books: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, Till We Have Faces by CS Lewis (anything by CSL tbh), and The Once and Future King by TH White
Favorite show: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Favorite movie: Pride and Prejudice (2005)
Currently reading: Paradise Lost by John Milton, Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen, The Order of the Phoenix by JK Rowling
Currently watching: “Jujutsu Kaisen”
Ask is always open.

I am enemies to lovers biggest fan truly I feel like there's so much discourse surrounding it and it's considered so basic that it's kinda overlooked despite being ubiquitous but consider. They hate each other and then they don't. Insane behaviour.

The fact that every platform is training and/or actively using AI features at this point makes me hsjebdibridbfineodkgor (frothing at the mouth).

No, I don't want Meta AI to draft a message for my friend who just lost his family member.

No, I don't want to pay money so a chat bot can diagnose my symptoms instead of a doctor.

No, I don't want to speak to an AI "therapist."

not to be that person, but I’m literally teaching high school freshman fahrenheit 451 right now, and one thing that people who never come back to that book don’t remember is that it isn’t just about burning books to keep people from thinking. it wasn’t a government-led top down regime; it was a community/business movement against true human connection (because human connection also allows for human conflict) that trickled up and eventually forced the government to follow suit with laws.

i’m not worried about the government deciding to outlaw free speech; i’m worried about communities/businesses forbidding it in their circles, and then the government going from there.

i’m not worried about the government deciding to keep people numb/stupid so that it can control us; i’m worried about individuals and companies willingly avoiding the intellectual and emotional work it takes to become a developed human/human endeavor—add a little bit of cancel culture/political purism, and boom: once that generation inherits political control, the government follows suit.

don’t let companies receive even the slightest monetary award for products that encourage people to avoid human connection and development. they WILL get the message.

Honestly to me the “problem of evil” argument against God always sounds like somebody pointing to a shadow to prove that light doesn’t exist.

If this is just the way things are, why are we outraged by it? Why would we desire good if there is no good to desire? If we feel — rightly so — that evil is a contradiction, how can we deny that which it contradicts? You are showing me the shadow cast when light is blocked and telling me that it’s proof that light does not exist when you can only see the shadow because there is light.
