I just did a major update on my homepage: http://www.zeiva.net

First, as you may have known, Flash is no longer available, so I had to remove all my online demo off my site. As for the videos, I have converted them all to HTML5, so you can still view them. You can still download my game demo, but they are all in EXE format from now on.

If you happened to be Mac/Linux users, that means you can’t play our games anymore, at least not anytime soon. I’m in the process of learning a new programming software, but I have no idea how long it will take for me to port them to other platforms. Hopefully, it won’t take too long, but no promises. I’m a total noob at programming. ^^;;;

If you are Windows users, you are largely unaffected. The only games that are affected are my older free games like Genetic Glow, Imaginary Realm, and Other Age, because there is no EXE version for them. If I have time, I’ll make a website just for them, so those who want to enjoy my older games can still play them.

Last but least, I have added all the characters information for Anicon Homepage: http://www.zeiva.net/anicon/index.html Please check them out! Thank you!

P.S: Happy Lunar NIU Year and Valentine’s Day! Stay safe, everyone!

Hi I love your games. Adobe said it will close, block all apps, which use Flasherplayer, how will this influence your games? I have a few and I want to play again.

Avatar

If you have the EXE version of the games, they will still be playable on your computer. This will affect only those who used browsers (ZIP version). I did try using Google Chrome and they are somehow still working, but I don’t know about other people. I will leave my website alone for now, though I’ll probably take down the option of purchasing the browser version in the near future.

Btw, Steam version uses the EXE version, so they are unaffected.

The Virus Diary

If you follow my Twitter, you probably know that my entire family and I got the virus about 3 weeks ago. I have felt a lot better since then, so I decided to write my experience here.

Around 3 weeks ago, my father started to cough. Since March, we have been very careful. We pretty much never go outside other than to get food. We always wear masks outside, and we carry disinfectant sprays everywhere we go. So, I honestly have no idea where my father could have caught it. My best guess is probably from the workers. Unfortunately, due to his job, he has to interact with them on a regular basis. Despite wearing masks all the time, my father still caught it.

A few days later, I woke up feeling sick. I felt chill, fatigue, and my whole body ached. My mother told me she was feeling the same. A day later, my brother also started to feel sick. At that time, I genuinely thought we have caught a cold or flu. This is mostly because I didn’t get fevers, and my body aches disappeared after two days. I didn’t know that out of everyone in my family, I was the only one who didn’t get fevers. Everyone else, including my brother had fevers (38.5 degree and above) for several days.

In other words, my symptoms happened to be the mildest of them all. I guess I was quite lucky. My parents and brother went to see a doctor, and I was the only one who didn’t. I pretty much relied on natural remedies and Panadol (Paracetamol) to survive.

Not long after, my parents and brother went for swap tests and the results were positive. Imagine my shock. I assume I also have it since we live together. My father and brother got generic flu medicine from doctor, while my mother, who was hit the hardest, received Avigan, a drug approved for virus treatment.

The main reason why I refused to see a doctor is because they tend to prescribe antibiotics for cold and flu. As a GERD sufferer, I want to avoid anything that can potentially destroy my stomach. So yeah, while my symptoms were mild, I still have to deal with GERD. Luckily, for the most part, it didn’t bother me too much.

These are the things I did when I was feeling sick:

- I drank Zinc, Probiotics, Ginger Tea, Chamomile Tea, and Honey every day. - I drank Panadol (Paracetamol) when I have headaches and body aches. - I rubbed oil on my chest, stomach, and back to keep my body warm. - I slept a lot, like really a lot.

Timeline:

- Day 1-2: Chill, fatigue, body aches. - Day 3-5: Chill, fatigue, headaches, runny nose. - Day 6-12: Chill, fatigue, runny nose, loss of smell. - Day 13-21: Mild chill, mild fatigue, runny nose.

For comparison, the rest of my family had fever and cough, while I was the only one who had headaches and runny nose.

Anyway, it has been 3 weeks since then, so all of us are getting a lot better, albeit not 100% recovered yet. I get tired easily if I work for a few hours, and I still have runny nose. I’m planning to go with my family for another swap test soon. Hoping for a negative result. For now, gonna keep living a full time hermit life. I don’t want to spread my virus to anyone else.

In any case, stay safe everyone. If you happen to get virus too, please don’t panic. If you are a healthy individual, you will most likely be fine.

Hello! Just wanted to say I love your games, and after replaying the Sheep's path, I'm so excited to play the Rabbit's path! Are you till going to release it in July of this year? Your website says 2021, so I figured I'd ask.

Avatar

Sadly, despite how much I tried, I don’t think I can release it this year, so I decided to push it back to next year. It’s my fault since I’m working on 3 games at the same time ^^;;;

But thank you for asking. It always makes me happy hearing people look forward to my games! I’ll do my best to get it done next year!

Here is the list of things that have been added and fixed:

1) Fixed several bugs 2) Fixed grammar and spelling errors 3) Added Volume Control (See image above) 4) Added Status Bars on the top right side of the map (See image above)

5) Skill Menu now keeps track of how close you are to unlocking the next level. (See image above) 6) You can now skip "End of Day" by pressing DOWN arrow or ENTER. 7) If you save in PLUS mode, the wing will come with sparkles. 8) Added a few new dialogues for Ending 8 Best Ending (You need to plant Fried Onion to see it) 9) Added a bonus location on the map if you complete Ending 9

Hopefully, these additions will make a better gaming experience for you!

Note: These changes may cause a little problem with old save data, such as wrong music being played. In general, it's nothing game-breaking. Continue playing and everything will go back to normal.

The Steam version has been automatically updated to the new version. If you bought from BMT Micro and want to have an upgrade, just drop me an email at zeiva@hotmail.com with the email you used to purchase the game.

Heya! I was looking at Final Frame's Steam page, just downloaded the demo, and I noticed at the bottom it says "Anicon - Animal Complex is presented to you by Zeiva Inc". Did you maybe copypasta your game description from Anicon and forget to edit the final line? XD

LMAO, yes, that’s me making blunder as usual! xD

Thanks for telling me. I’ve fixed it.

It has been over 5 years since Area X was released and the story never leaves me. I honestly don't understand how your complex story-lines can be so niche! Now that I'm thinking of being my own otome writer one day, Area X has become one of my inspirations. Do you have any adivce on how to develope these complex points? I know the lore must be alot to keep track of and connecting them together is mind jumbling and tedious. What makes you stay motivated?

Avatar

Thank you. I’m glad to be your inspiration! ^^

This is how I normally work with my stories: 1) Choose a genre and sub-genre: In the case of Area-X, it’s Otome and time-traveling inspired by Chrono Trigger.

2) Choose a theme: This is especially important in the long run. It’s like the glue that keeps everything together. Without a theme, it’s easy for a story to lose focus. In the case of Area-X, it’s survival and sacrifice.

3) Choose a setting: This is the start of world-building and an aspect that many stories tend to ignore in favor of plot and characters. I personally think that having an interesting world-building is crucial to a good story. In the case of Area-X, I choose a setting that is similar to Chrono Trigger. From there, I build it up to be my own.

4) Write the basic premise: This will be the main plot. In general, I don’t put too much detail, just something simple and straightforward. In the case of Area-X, I want it to have a mysterious dimension that links to Elcia’s past.

5) Create the main characters: Points 3, 4, and 5 can be done at about the same time. With Area-X, I follow Chrono Trigger’s idea of having each character comes from a different time period, and since this is Otome, the main character has to be a girl, and the rest are guys. I asked Nitarou to roughly create some designs, and based on her design, I develop their personalities. At this point, everything is still basic and not in-depth.

6) Write the basic outline: After we roughly have the basic idea, it’s time to put the rough progression of the story on paper. I normally focus more on the beginning and the end and leave the middle part open for changes and expansion.

7) Do research: It’s time to refine the details. I would research on the subjects related to the story. I was intrigued by the idea of an undiscovered continent, so I did plenty of researches on that and discovered its relation to Atlantis. From there I tried to incorporate the ideas I found into the story.

8) Connect and refine the plot: This is a bit like piecing a jigsaw puzzle together. How the story connects, how the character relationship connects.

Spoiler to Area-X (Skip to point 9 if you don’t want to be spoiled) - Rexus was originally meant to just be a Yankee, but I wanted him to be more involved with the main plot, so I made him into the creator of the time machine. - Yuras was originally meant to be a descendant of ORZ corporate just like Belph, but I thought it was redundant, so I made Brash into one instead. - I made Yuras’ story connects to Ferim because he doesn’t have much involvement in the main story.

9) Write the script: When I feel I have a pretty good grasp on the story, I begin writing the script. This is where the final refinement comes in. I’m a pretty spontaneous writer, so every time I have a new idea, I will try to incorporate it into the story. For example, Belph’s original role is supposed to be self-contained in his path, but I ended up giving him a bigger role in Rexus’ path.

10) Edit the script: I do this together while writing, and this is perhaps the hardest part of them all. Editing is extremely important. This is basically where I decide what stays in and what gets cut. Let’s say I wrote 1000 words, you can bet 500 will be cut in the final version. I like my story to be succinct, so I don’t like to add useless details that can harm the pacing.

Generally speaking, I have a rule for this: If it’s not pertinent to the plot, and it’s not funny or interesting, it will be removed.

11) Feedback and final polish: So, after I finished everything, I ask for feedback, usually Nitarou first, and I’ll fix the things that are commonly cited as a problem. For example, Livan’s ending wasn’t that well-liked, so I ended up revising his ending 5 times before I’m satisfied with it.

That’s the rough guide to how I do my stories. Hope that helps you somehow.

Last but not least, in regards to motivation, this is a hard one. Especially if it’s a long story. One thing I usually do every day, like a ritual of some sort, is when I wake up, I told myself “I’m going to finish *insert game here* today!!!” It’s like Luffy keeps telling everyone he’s gonna be a pirate king. Another watercolor attempt. I find it hard to add shadows with watercolor. Maybe I mixed too much water. ^^; You can watch the video process here: youtu.be/NH1pMLo8-0Q (Sorry, the camera shook a lot when I recorded this and I have no idea why.)

Hi, everyone. I hope you are all safe. I’ve been contemplating whether to write this. I don’t usually talk about stuff outside making games, but maybe sharing this can help some of you.

With what is happening right now, I think most of us are feeling the effects. For me personally, the place I go for badminton is closed, so no more badminton for me. Most of the conventions I go this year are canceled, so we lost quite a bit of money. The topic of the conversation in my house has been nothing but the pandemic. It’s quite depressing.

But there are many things you can do during this crisis!

1) Social distancing

I hope everyone is practicing this right now. I know a lot of people don’t, but I hope you do regardless of your age or health condition. This is not just to protect yourself, but to protect everyone else around you - your parents, your grandparents, the elderly, and most importantly, the doctors and nurses who are fighting the battle. Let’s not get sick and add more burden to those who are making sacrifices for us.

2) Staying healthy

Right now is the worst time to get sick. Hospitals are the easiest place to catch the virus. So, staying as healthy as possible is important.

- Get your daily dosage of sunlight. Preferably at noon for 10-15 minutes every day. Ultraviolet ray B is the strongest during noon, and they can help you produce vitamin D. Many people, especially introverts who never go out like me, are vitamin D deficient. Vitamin D can help boost your immune system, fight depression and insomnia. So even if you are at home all day, don’t forget to get some sunlight!

- Get some vitamins and zinc. Many vitamins can boost your immune system. Zinc is particularly important to keep your immune system strong.

- Meditation can help to reduce stress. Do this for a few minutes every day and it can help to reduce anxiety, improve concentration and sleep better.

- Do regular exercises. Even if you are at home, don’t forget to exercise. I recommend walking for 30 minutes to an hour every day.

Any of this can help to keep you healthy. Remember not to overdo it. Too much sunlight can cause skin cancer, and too many vitamins are toxic. Also, just because you are healthy, it doesn’t mean you are immune to the virus.

3) Other safety measures

- Wash your hands thoroughly for about 20 seconds. The surface of the virus is made of fat and soaps can dissolve them. Hand washing is better than hand sanitizers, though if you have nothing else, you can use hand sanitizer, preferably around 60-70% alcohol. Anything lower or higher isn’t as beneficial.

- Wear a mask if you are going outside. I know some people made fun of others who wear them, but wearing them can protect you and others. Many cases can be spread without symptoms. Just because you are healthy doesn’t mean you cannot be a carrier. Just to be safe, always wear a mask.

- Keep your handphones clean. They are one of the major sources of viruses and bacterias, so clean them whenever you can.

- Don’t touch your face if possible. This is a tough one. I often touch my face without realizing. Probably not the most useful advice, but if you can do it, then more power to you!

I think that’s about it. Many of you probably have heard these, but for those who don’t, I hope this can help you somehow.

Please stay safe everyone!
