Nightwing and Batman/Superman: World's Finest are notable nominations for the prestigious 2024 Eisner Awards. Comic-Con International released the nominations list with many DC titles and creators being recognized, including Nightwing and World's Finest , with three nominations each. Writer Mark Waid has been nominated for "Best Writer", and Dan Mora has snagged two nominations for "Best Penciller/Inker" as well as "Best Cover Artist". Meanwhile, Nightwing has yet another "Best Continuing Title" nomination, which it won in 2023. Will it make it two for two? Nightwing #105, AKA the experimental POV issue, also grabbed a nomination for "Best Single Issue/One-Shot". Finally, Tom Taylor has another "Best Writer" nomination for his work on both Nightwing and Titans. Nightwing has become a bit of a critical darling since Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo became the chief creative team on the book. Last year, it won two Eisners, one for "Best Cover Artist" and the previously mentioned "Best Continuing Title'. [gallery columns="5" size="large" ids="181847,181848,181849,181850,181851"] Other DC Nominations Birds of Prey and Detective Comics  both tied for two nominations each. Birds grabbed one for "Best Continuing Series" and one for "Best Writer", Kelly Thompson. Detective Comics got nominations for "Best Penciller/Inker", Jason Shawn Alexander, and "Best Cover Artist", Evan Cagle. Poison Ivy writer G. Willow Wilson also received a "Best Writer" nomination. Beyond that, DC also racked up nominations for Tom King's Wonder Woman, the Superman 2023 Annual, SHAZAM!, Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons, and Superman: Lost. Other DC creators with nominations include: Jen Bartel and Jenny Frison for "Cover Artist"; Jordie Bellaire for "Best color artist", and Hasan Otsmane-Elhaou for "Best Letterer". In addition to the nomination list, Comic-Con also opened the list for the 2024 Eisner Hall of Fame Nominees. Many DC creators were nominated, including Batman '66 writer Mike Friedrich; Dark Knight Returns inker Klaus Janson; and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola. There's also a special shout-out for popular artist and current DC publisher and CCO Jim Lee's nomination. The Eisner Awards will be held at Comic-Con in San Diego on July 26th. DC is celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the original Super Powers line with eight special variant covers, replicating the appearance of a Super Powers figure in the original packaging. Super Powers Variant Covers Artist Alex Saviuk, who worked on the original Super Powers, returns to provide the packaging art. Cleverly, each comic has a matching back cover that matches the front. One highlight is Batman #151, which features a shirtless and capeless Batman with a sword. This recreates his appearance during his iconic duel with Ra's Al Ghul, in Batman #244 (1972). My personal favorite cover is Nightwing #117, which features Dick Grayson in the original Nightwing costume. Nightwing fans commonly refer to this look as the "disco costume. Villainess Poison Ivy takes the spotlight on the front cover of Gotham City Sirens #1, as she appeared in the 1980s. [gallery size="large" ids="190310,190311,190312"] We'll also get books showcasing Nightwing's fellow Teen Titans; Kid Flash (Wally West) on The Flash #12 and Wonder Girl (Donna Troy) on Titans #14.  Rounding out the set are Green Lantern (John Stewart) on Green Lantern: War Journal #12, Power Girl on Power Girl #12, and a Gold-costumed Superman on Superman #17. The back covers also sport an enticing Fortress of Solitude playset and two intriguing vehicles: the Cyborg Crawler and the Fist of Fate. Don't go rushing to the toy store looking for these toys, though, as DC's announcement gives the disclaimer, "All toys depicted on DC’s front and back variant covers are wholly digital and not for sale". The only one that actually exists is the Gold Superman, which is in McFarlane's Super Powers line, minus the "power action flying leap" mentioned on the back cover. However, perhaps these covers might inspire Todd McFarlane to release the toys for real. [gallery size="large" ids="190313,190314,190315"] Meanwhile... McFarlane Toys has announced a new Super Powers Gold Label 3-Pack set that should appeal to Batman Fans. "The set contains a Batman figure and two vehicles: the Batwing, and the Whirly-Bat. "New" might not be entirely accurate to describe the set. The Batman figure appears to be a re-release of the Batman in a black costume released as part of the fifth McFarlane Toys Super Powers wave. The two vehicles are previously released toys that have been recolored from blue to black. However, the black theme looks really snazzy. This set should appeal to fans of the Tim Burton movies. The black costume is quite close to Michael Keaton's, and the Batwing appears much like it did when it first appeared. So, yes it does come in black. The set is an Amazon exclusive, so you won't find it on the McFarlane Toys Store website, or at Walmart or GameStop. It's available for pre-order, with a release date of July 26, 2024. The price is listed as $49.00 US/$66.73 Canadian. Will you be picking up any of these figures or variant covers? Please let us know in the comments. It's no secret that Brian Michael Bendis' run on Legion of Super-Heroes didn't go over well.  As a matter of fact, nothing he introduced while handling Superman and Legion of Super-Heroes has had lasting impact out side of the aging of Jon Kent and the establishment of the United Planets in contemporary times.  Bendis himself abandoned the "modern" relationship between Lois and Clark and Superman's identity was put back in the box during the Dawn of DC publishing initiative.  Currently, in Jeremy Adams' Green Lantern the status quo of the United Planets is coming under fire and it appears that the classic Legion of Super-Heroes, or a version of them, is returning to continuity. This version known to fans as the "Retro-boot" Legion can be seen on the cover of the forthcoming Justice Society of America #11.  Due out on July 24, 2024, this Legion can be seen fighting the JSA.  Cover artist Mikel Janin shared the cover on Twitter/ X after the solicit for issue #12 was released. Foremost, demonstrating that this is the "Retro-boot" Legion are the depictions of Lightning Lad and Saturn Girl.  They appear as they did when the "Retro-boot" Legion was "reintroduced" back in "The Lightning Saga."  Amongst others are Dawnstar, Ultra Boy and Cosmic Boy in their "Retro-boot" character designs. The Legion of Super-Heroes has been plagued with reboots both total and soft ever since the Crisis on Infinite Earths back in 1985.  The Crisis reorganized the DC Universe, part of which eliminated Superman's time as Superboy and thus his time with the Legion of Super-Heroes.  After a "pocket universe" story that fixed this paradox the Legion continued for about five years.  It then relaunched with a "5 years later" storyline that took the once bright and hopeful future in a darker direction.  This led to a couple soft reboots of Legion history along the way.  With the Zero Hour event in 1994 the Legion completely rebooted.  The Legion would again reboot in 2004.  Finally, the classic Legion returned in the aforementioned "Lightning Saga" in 2007.  This time, the Legion history picked up from the pre-Crisis Legion continuity and restoring Superman's time with the Legion as Superboy.  This Legion would continue up through Flashpoint and into The New 52.  Just before Flashpoint they were appearing in their own title as well as the relaunched Adventure Comics.  It seemed like a new golden age for the team.  However, sales were not enough to sustain the title far into the New 52. The Legion was set to return during "Rebirth" within the pages of Doomsday Clock.  A young and classic Saturn Girl was a large part of it until the team finally returned at the end of the 12-issue series.  Instead of a classic Legion returning it was Bendis' new Legion.  It's still my opinion that the delays on Doomsday Clock were mostly due to Gary Frank having to redraw the classic Legion as Bendis' Legion. It's possible that the Legion on the cover of Justice Society of America #11 is just a ruse, but there has been another reference to classic Legion lore in "House of Brainiac."  Supergirl (Kara Zor-El) mentions that once upon a future she was very close to a Brainiac.  Pre-Crisis, Kara and Brainiac 5 were a romantic pairing.  Brainiac 5 was devastated when she died in Crisis on Infinite Earths.  taken together, this reference and the cover to Justice Society of America #11 indicate that this is not just a one-of situation.  With the impending fall of the United Planets in Green Lantern we only need Jon to go back to being 13 and DC can finally be rid of the plague that was Brian Michael Bendis.

Summer is coming, and to welcome it in DC Comics are showing off their new Summer Swimsuit Variant Art Covers. To kick the summer off, the variants will feature ‘Titans’ by Saowee Variant, ‘Gotham City Sirens’ by Rahzzah, ‘The Flash’ by Mirka Andolfo, ‘Nightwing’ by Belén Ortega, ‘Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman’ by Frank Cho, ‘Batman’ by Olivier Coipel, ‘Superman’ by Elizabeth Torque, and ‘Wonder Woman’ by Guillem March. [gallery type="single-slider" columns="4" size="large" ids="190250,190251,190252,190253"] The Titans are having fun in the water and look adorable in their new swimsuits, matching their personalities in their favored colors, while Harley Quinn's enjoying a hot spring with some cute capybara and lots of yuzu fruit. Wally West is literally running with dolphins as Dick Grayson ‘relaxes’ at the beach with some drinks and sports. The Trinity are showing of their skills, still dressed in their suits, as they water ski together. Of course, Batman doesn’t look like he’s enjoying it, but he’s still doing a good job. Afterward, Bruce does a few laps in his Batpool with a possibly tipsy Alfred keeping track of his time. Clark Kent is trying to avoid the sun but it still shines an iconic S on his chest through the canopy, threatening his secret identity for him, while Princess Diana makes a swing of her lasso to enjoy the seaside and heat. [gallery type="single-slider" columns="4" size="large" ids="190255,190256,190257,190254"] Eight of these amazing new variant covers will be released in August. Every gamer in the Dark Knight News team has been eagerly gearing up for the re-release of MultiVersus. This wild Warner Bros. Battler is set to be heating up for its return on May 28, and will introduce the MultiVersus "Rifts". We've covered The Joker coming to Multiversus at length already, but these Rifts give us a whole new way to play. In this game mode, players will get the chance to practice with their favorite characters against the in-game engine itself. These will allow for wackier battles, skill challenges, and new platformer adventurers to really get to grips with the way that a character plays. With this new facelift on the game, any chance to learn every facet of every character is so important. We can expect to hear even more news about MultiVersus "Rifts" and the game as a whole as they go into full release on May 28. For full information, the delightful Velma, of Mystery Inc., has prepared a short presentation below for your viewing pleasure. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3h4Zex58TLo[/embed] Here's the full press release, direct from WB Games. "Warner Bros. Games today released a MultiVersus video detailing the all-new PvE “Rifts” mode, which offers a different way to experience the game, outside of competitive PvP matches. Rifts mode incorporates a variety of unexpected twists, from boss fights to mini-games, along with ongoing content updates to keep things fresh. Each Rift is made up of chapters, which are comprised of various nodes that consist of battles and challenges, and each node contains unique mutators for different combat scenarios. By completing node objectives and winning matches, players can earn rewards, and gems, which can be used to raise stats and impart special effects. As one of many ways to experience MultiVersus at launch on May 28, Rifts can also be a way for players to learn mechanics, test characters, and sharpen skills, whether jumping in solo or cooperatively online with a friend." "Escalation" Writer: Shawn Martinbrough Artist: Sanford Greene Color Artist: Matt Herms Letterer: Troy Peteri Review by Adam Ray Red Hood: The Hill #4 brings the aftermath of last month's dramatic cliffhanger and its consequences. Batman's offered his unlikely, but welcome, assistance as the increasing threats mount against our heroes. Shawn Martinborough has done a wonderful job of building tension and intrigue in these few short issues. What could this crooked sneaker peddler really be doing tangling with our heroes in this way? We're still tantalizingly tempted by the possibilities and the peril our heroes are under and, because of this, there's wonderful character understanding in this issue. At first, I thought that Red Hood calling Batman "Bruce" while on a mission to be irreverent and out of pocket, but on second thought, it just highlights how strong their dynamic is. Jason will always be a cooperative and diligent anti-hero but his ability to flout the rules will always be a familiar and consistent part of his character. [gallery type="single-slider" columns="5" size="large" ids="190182,190183,190184,190185,190181"] Sanford Greene does a wonderful job of keeping the gritty consistency in his evocative art style. We're treated with expressive characters and impressive silhouettes of the mysterious figures in the tattoo studio. We're then treated with Matt Herms' muted, almost dusty color scheme, the way the issue ends on a dark moment into a shot of light, and Dutch angles that make us feel as off-kilter as our heroes do, as things get tense. Comics of all stripes need to remember the legendary creators who added to the stories that exist today, which is why I will smile and highlight the loving respect they gave the late Ramona Fradon at the end of this issue. Conclusion Red Hood: The Hill #4 brings us a great deal of heart and character tension. There are a great many possibilities that the story can take, moving forward, and it's been a delight to read a more down-to-earth take on Jason Todd. I'm eager to see the tension build with Batman's help and the ever-growing cadre of villains, as they target the rich truly rich, and intriguing setting of The Hill. "Insomnia" Writer: Nicole Maines Artists: Eddy Barrows, Jose Luis, Eber Ferreira and Adriano Di Bendetto Color Artist: Adriano Lucas Letterer: Becca Carey Review by Philip Clark Suicide Squad: Dream Team #3 hits the shelves this week, leaving off where the last issue left us in its clutches. Dreamer's gone AWOL after a vision of Waller's plans left her wondering who the good guys truly are. With an extreme group of racists knocking on the doors of Parthas, Dreamer's home city of alien residents, and the rest of the team tasked with bringing her back in; a lot happens in this issue. A Dreamer's Dream With Waller up to her usual antics, the Dream Team's in somewhat of a quandary, with a complete clash of moralities. The only thing they can all agree on is that they like their heads on their shoulders. Receiving their orders, they head into Parthas to bring in their missing comrade-in-arms. Dreamer, on the other hand, is ready to do anything she can to protect her home and her people. The conflict of beliefs between the two groups makes for interesting reading because, while Deadeye and Harley can understand Dreamer's point of view, they've also come to terms that Waller just can't be beaten. Clock King, Bizarro, and Black Alice will do whatever Waller tells them; for their own reasons of course. Will this rift tear the team apart, or can the need for survival keep them together? [gallery type="single-slider" columns="5" size="large" ids="190163,190164,190165,190166,190161"] A Well Rounded Team Maines is doing a brilliant job writing this series, keeping us on edge with what Amanda Waller's plans truly are, as well as giving us plenty of emotional depth from the main character. The dichotomy of the pair adds to the overall feel of this run so far. Conflicting emotions, ideals, and beliefs are what seem to be driving the characters and their development. I think the art team did an excellent job on this issue and would go as far as to say it's been my favorite so far. The contrast of the brighter colors being used for the team, compared to the bleaker background pieces, helps them stand out on the page. This was definitely the best all-round issue of the series so far. The team seems to really be growing in confidence, and complimenting each other's abilities wonderfully. Conclusion The story is growing, the tensions everywhere are rising. Something's coming, Maines is doing a great job at leaving us clue crumbs in each issue. This series is getting stronger and stronger, with Suicide Squad: Dream Team #3 as the best of the bunch, so far. I'm looking forward to catching the next issue and seeing what else Nicole (Dreamer) Maines has in store for us! Images Courtesy of DC Entertainment (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();

"Down The Stack" Writers: Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly Artist: Robert Carey  Color Artist: Valentina Taddeo Letterer: Tom Napolitano Review by James Attias Outsiders #7 gives readers a meta look at the metahuman actions in the metaverse. My fourth wall's been broken... big time! Beat Of Your Own Drum This issue took me a bit by surprise, as we've finally been given an origin for The Drummer. Since this run started I have to say that this iteration of the character was my least favorite member of the team. I'm a spandex and cape lover (that sounds slightly off), I mean I love superheroes (who would have known), so the idea that this character doesn't, and acts like she thinks that they're dumb (almost in a Jessica Jones-type way) always rubbed me the wrong way. This issue gave us an explanation as to why, and it was a great one! If you're reading this review then you've probably read a few comics in your time, and have seen a few multiverse-changing events (damn it, Barry!) Now, imagine if you were a part of those worlds that kept changing (whenever the publishers wanted a shake-up) for DC I'd say that was every 5 or so years. In this issue, we get a really good first-person look at what that would be like. [gallery type="single-slider" columns="5" size="large" ids="190155,190156,190157,190158,190154"] World Ending I can't praise the creative team on this book enough, as consistency is a 10/10 for me. So, having a team on a book from start to finish, really helps me invest in a story. Even if the art isn't always my favorite (no offense, we all have our tastes) having the same creative team month in and month out, I now associate it with this book, so if it were to change, it would feel wrong. Well done to the entire team. This issue feels like it will lead to something bigger, and really hope that, with Absolute Power coming up, this pans out. Conclusion Outsiders #7 is a great read that pays off a lot of long-term comic readers' commitment to DC. It's a really fun read, too. "Nightmare in Gotham" Writer: Roberto Recchioni Artists: Gigi Cavenago and Werther Dell'Edera Color Artists: Giovanna Niro and Laura Ciondolini Letterer:  Pat Brosseau Review by Carl Bryan In Batman/Dylan Dog #3, the Joker's not happy with the new "friend" he "made", therefore, he hires Dylan Dog, with his special skill set, to hunt down Christopher Killex. Fresh from a trip to Hell, Dylan and Batman are faced with the ultimate dilemma; get help from the Joker, or do this on their own. The enemy of my enemy is my friend! I investigate Monsters!" - Dylan Dog. "In that case, welcome to Gotham City" - James Gordon" Gruesome Roberto Recchioni and artists Gigi Cavenago and Werther Dell'Edera don't play around in this issue, particularly in the way they depict the graphic display of what Christopher Killex can do. If he can out-violence the Joker, then this is a tour de force of a villain who should remain in Batman's Rogues Gallery. However, this is a Dylan Dog tale as much as it is Batman's, and Dylan has certainly been instrumental in bringing, not only the supernatural but the dark alleys together. Recchioni has taken something that was purely Italian and made it part of the Gotham Fabric. Well done! The writer delves into some of the idiosyncrasies of both The Joker and Batman. From the rooftops to the cells in Arkham, and back to the Batcave, Dylan Dog's not shocked by anything. This series is as much trying to familiarize fans with Batman as it is with Dylan. I give a tip of the cap to Recchioni for marrying both reading audiences! [gallery type="single-slider" columns="5" size="large" ids="190146,190147,190148,190149,190145"] The Joker's Ego When did Dr. Frankenstein become jealous of his monster? Sorry, that's more of a Riddler reference. However, the Joker is not happy with Killex and I love his explanation. Do I commit heinous acts? Yes...but I do them with passion, like a human being. Killex on the other hand, he's...empty and there is nothing worse than emptiness!" Great writing! That's a Wrap!  I won't reveal the ending, as this is the final issue, however, I do appreciate the irony and Recchioni's twist on the story.  "One man's trash is another man's treasure!" Ain't that the truth! Conclusion Batman/Dylan Dog #3  makes a considerable jump out of Hell and... goes to Gotham, which is arguably DC's Hell on Earth!  There are elements of this story that will remind one of the Spawn/Batman team-up, and Crime Alley reeks of that!  However, given that it is a three-issue story arc and that we do get a new villain out of the mix, that Batman gets to mix it up with, I'd say as Batman fans, we got a win/win out of it! Review: Green Lantern #11[Editor's Note: This review may contain spoilers] Writer: Jeremy AdamsArt: Xermanico & Amancay Nahuelpan and Kevin MaguireColors: Romulo Fajardo, Jr. and Rosemary CheethamLetters: Dave Sharpe Reviewed by: Matthew B. Lloyd Summary Hal and company go to the United Planets to inform them about Thaaros...and it doesn't go exactly as they plan.  On Earth, Carol Ferris makes a big decision! Positives While the conflict between the "renegade" Green Lanterns and Thaaros ramps up, perhaps the most interesting development in the issue is the final page cliffhanger with Carol Ferris.  Jeremy Adams wisely uses Carol's history as a way of getting her involved in the proceedings on Oa.  Adams has been toying with the Hal/ Carol relationship since this series began.  It seemed Carol was completely happy with her current boyfriend and Hal was going to have to accept that Carol had moved on and their new status quo was going to be friendship. With Green Lantern #11, Adams puts the focus on Carol's desires as she forces the issue with her boyfriend convincing him to drive to Las Vegas to elope.  It's a nuanced approach to Carol as it's clear that while Carol is saying one thing, she is also having misgivings.  This leads to the final page surprise as Carol is confronted with another aspect of her past, an aspect that should prove to put her and Hal on equal footing.  This should force Carol to confront the truth of her feelings.  This was an unexpected though appropriate plot turn and a thoughtful examination of Carol's character. Positives Cont'd It's no secret that Thaaros isn't automatically indicted by the U.P. Council.  Though expected, it does provide the continued tension between Hal and the renegades against the U.P. One wonders if this will lead to some sort of dismantling of the United Planets.  It would be a clever in-story way of resetting things for the U.P. to show up again in the future as part of a more traditional take on the legislative body as part of the world of the future Legion of Super-Heroes.  The United Planets as a contemporary entity has been an awkward take since Brian Michael Bendis introduced the idea during his ill conceived and executed runs on Superman and the Legion. Like it or not, Adams also nails the Guy Gardner back up.  The art by Kevin Maguire is right on target, especially the facial expressions on Guy.  This is also seen when Carol gets her surprise on the last page.  Xermanico (I think) does a great job of communicating Carol's misgivings throughout Green Lantern #11.  There's a degree of subtlety here that is achieved at a high level. Negatives The flashback sequence with Hal and Carol as middle schoolers plays upon the long history the characters have.  Reflecting upon the childhood interest in bad boy Hal works against the more complex aspects of their relationship as adults.  The final page cliffhanger injects what is needed to bring it back around to the adult relationship between Hal and Carol. Verdict Green Lantern #11 takes a turn into the interior of Carol's struggle.  The creative team does an exceptional job adding this layer to the storytelling by developing this subplot further setting it up for the next big part of this story.  Jeremy Adams continues to be the best writer at DC Comics these days understanding the balance of action-adventure and character.

"Cool Kids Table" Writer: Joshua Williamson Artists: Nikola Čižmešija and Simone Di Meo Color Artists: Rex Lokus and Giovanna Niro Letterer: Steve Wands Review by James Attias Batman and Robin #9 finally gives us some answers. For characters. For context. Even some for continuity. Let's jump in with our fact-checking hats firmly on! The Life and Death of Man-Bat At the end of the last issue, we were tantalized by the idea of finally finding out who Shush really was, as well as getting a glimpse at Man-Bat's final goal for his sinister master plan. Well, this issue comes in hot and, I don't want to give anything away, but I was right... I told you all so. No one listened to me, but I'll never doubt myself again. Just kidding, kind of. This isn't just a cut-and-dried episode of Columbo as we (I) originally thought. For context for our younger readers, Columbo was a detective show your grandparents watched at 2pm every day for years, starting in 1971. With the much-needed help of Flatline, Damian finally decides to take action in what seems to be an almost unbelievably bad school... well it is Gotham. [gallery type="single-slider" columns="4" size="large" ids="190140,190141,190142,190138"] Batman who'd been captured and tied up by Man-Bat was left enjoying the ever-popular villain monologue, which, when I was reading it, had me jumping for joy. Langstrom finally gave loyal readers the well-needed explanation as to exactly why he'd taken this sinister turn. ArTiStS and aRtIsTs I almost didn't notice when I was reading this issue, but the stories of Damian and Flatline, and of Batman and Man-Bat, were drawn by two different sets of artists. I usually would grumble and grimace at the idea, ut it works so well! With a clear difference between the stories, and the art not being so drastically different, I really did enjoy it. Also, a well-deserved Shoutout to the wonderful unsung hero, Steve Wands, who always hits a home run on the letters. This was a creative issue with lots of great twists. More like this going forward, please! Conclusion Batman and Robin #9 is an issue full of answers... not all of them, mind you. Of course, all this just keeps us coming back for more! The crossover fighting game MultiVersus has debuted its first look at the Joker as a playable character. The clown Prince of Crime will join the roster of playable characters that already include Batman, the Iron Giant, Bugs Bunny, Shaggy, and many more. What's even better, Mark Hamill will be voicing the villain.   Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill Reunite on 'MultiVersus' Given that Kevin Conroy has already recorded his dialogue for Batman in MultiVersus, fans will be treated to a BTAS/Arkham reunion. MultiVersus will be considered the last time that Hamill and Conroy will play the characters in video games. Of course, their voices were both considered the iconic voices of their characters since Batman: The Animated Series launched in 1992. Since then, their Batman and Joker vocals have been introduced to a new generation of fans in the Arkham video games. While MultiVersus will be Conroy and Hamill's last interactions as Batman and the Joker in a video game, they will have one more shared scene together. Both are now confirmed to appear for the last time in the animated film Crisis on Infinite Earths Part Three, which is due out in July. The gameplay trailer comes hot on the heels of the reveal trailer that announced the Joker as a playable character.   Looking at the gameplay, the Joker also seems to be able to have personalized interactions with other characters, specifically Harley Quinn and Batman. According to the official press release, the Joker's considered a Mage-class character. His move set includes a weaponized pogo stick, spring-loaded boxing gloves, a rocket launcher, and more. The Joker will also have two alternate skins: “The Batman Who Laughs” and “The Dark Prince Charming”. MultiVersus will be free-to-play and re-launches on May 28th. The official trailer dropped for the third and final installment of Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths. If you have been watching the first two Crisis on Infinite Earths animated films, then you know there are a lot of deviations from the comic book source material. The trailer seems to promise even more deviations. Like, it seems that the alternate universe shenanigans have mixed up the time stream, forcing our heroes to battle against various villains in history. So we get Green Arrow and Black Canary versus velociraptors and Tyrannosaurus Rexes.   We also witness Terry McGinnis’ Batman getting well-deserved kicks to some Nazis. At some point, Scarecrow and Bane also teams up with the Nazi army too. There are quick flashes of Batman getting fear-gassed and Bane getting a 1940’s makeover. There is a point where Lex Luthor inevitably betrays the heroes to the Anti-Montior. Speaking of the Anti-Monitor has a wildly different design than the comics. I’m not sure why it is so dramatically different. His original comic book look is no crazier than the Monitor’s or most other superheroes.  Perhaps the biggest thing is that we get some fun alternate earth versions of our favorite past cartoons! There is a very fast cameo of Aya, the female AI from the Green Lantern television show. We also get a brief return of the Super Friends era Justice League. They are in their basking in their Alex Toth- designs and bright technicolors. But most importantly, near the end of the trailer we see the faintest tease of Batman: The Animated Series- era Batman and Joker.  Kevin Conroy's Final Performance For Bat-fans, this is a special one. Since famous Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy’s death in 2022, fans were bracing for his final performance as the Dark Knight. Initially, it was believed to be in the recently-released Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League video game. However, that game seems to have left a bad taste in many fans mouths for their use of Batman and the rest of the League. Fortunately, that is not the last time Conroy will voice Batman. He will indeed have one last performance in Crisis Part Three. Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths  Part Three will release on digital on July 16th.  The physical releases will come on July 23rd.

Black Panther actor Winston Duke is trying to start an online campaign started for him to play Batman in live-action. During his promotional rounds for his new film Fall Guy, Duke made no secret that he wants to play the Dark Knight on the big screen.  Listen, man, can you start that [campaign]? [Laughs] I would say I challenge you to get on all these socials and push for me. Get your community. I would love to. I would love to do that as Batman. I’d love any opportunity to explore new characters, to change narratives around some of these entrenched ideas of how these characters are supposed to look, sound, and perform. I’m all for it.” 'Batman: Unburied' Starred Winston Duke The wild thing is that Duke has played Batman before, as a voice actor in the scripted podcast Batman: Unburied, even though the show featured a dramatically different version of the character beyond Duke playing him. In this story, Bruce Wayne was a forensic pathologist who was dating Barbara Gordon, and his parents were still alive before he became Batman. When there are major changes to the source material like this, it's easier for fans to associate it as an alternative variant version of the character. In the meantime, we're still waiting to hear casting news for the DCU Batman in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. In addition to Duke showing interest in the role, Jake Gyllenhaal said it would be an "honor". , the current Jack Ryan actor, Alan Ritchson, has also voiced his interest in potentially playing the Dark Knight in that movie.  Source: superherohype.com Images may be subject to copyright (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();

Amazon Prime Video has just announced that their new Batman: Caped Crusader animated series will premiere on August the 1st, 2024. A continuation of the beloved Batman: The Animated Series, we are all looking forward to seeing this short series. Producers J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, and Bruce Timm have teamed up with Ed Brubaker, James Tucker, Daniel Pipski, Rachel Rusch Rich, and Sam Register to expand the mythology developed in their Batman: The Animated Series. With only ten episodes in this new series, we will get to fall in love with a new world and dynamic art style all over again. The logline for this new series reads: "Welcome to Gotham City, where the corrupt outnumber the good, criminals run rampant and law-abiding citizens live in a constant state of fear. Forged in the fire of tragedy, wealthy socialite Bruce Wayne becomes something both more and less than human—the BATMAN. His one-man crusade for justice attracts unexpected allies within the GCPD and City Hall, but his heroic actions spawn deadly, unforeseen ramifications." [gallery type="single-slider" columns="5" size="large" ids="190128,190130,190131,190132,190133"] Last year, Prime Video placed a two-season order on Caped Crusader after it was scrapped by HBO Max. So far, we know that it will feature known characters, Bruce Wayne/Batman, Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Dr. Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn, Commissioner Jim Gordon, and Clayface. Originally airing from 1992 to 1995 on Fox Kids, The original run of Batman: The Animated Series ran for 85 episodes and received multiple Daytime Emmy Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award. It then became The New Adventures Of Batman (running until 1998) but continued in the same timeline, with re-designed costumes and characters, and a brand new Bat Family, including a grown-up Dick Grayson as Nightwing, and Tim Drake's Robin. Batman: Caped Crusader has a lot to live up to, and we're all looking forward to see where it takes us.
