These guys have done it.  They are a completely independent band who is touring the world. 

Geniuses at not just making music, but of all the business and logistics of being a band. That behind the scenes stuff is way more impressive than most people realize. 

That, my friends, is true freedom. They do what they love and go where they please. 

More people need to take charge of their lives like that.

Here are my friends The Sunpilots ( @thesunpilots on twitter) live at the Helfenstein Festival 2011. I’ve been talking with these guys over twitter and listening to their music very frequently and I have to say they have managed to create magic. Their music combines a fresh and original sound with undertones of older rock and roll greats mixed it. Finally made it to Motown! We had a massive night in Bowling Green OH last night. The bar staff introduced us to some local cocktails and the rest is a blur…

Met some amazing people. A marine with some heavy war stories who’s opening up a micro brewery to make jalapeño beer. A sound guy activist who travels the world campaigning against racism. And the bands we’ve been playing with have been really good.

Almost had an accident this morning when a couch flew off someone’s trailer on the interstate. Bob managed to save us with his guitar-reflex driving skills.

Fitting in a round of pool now, then hitting the stage. Detroit is a grungy, smog-filled place with a lot of attitude & character. Feeling right at home.
