With the weapon taken away from his direction, Chris felt he could breathe again. The person he was talking to wasn’t completely insane after all. There was a small ounce of southern to his voice once the blond paid attention. He knew he travelled far and it would have been a waste for him to die on someone’s doorstep. At least those creatures once called man wouldn’t be the cause of his death. He didn’t enjoy the thoughts he was stuck with. Before the fiasco, he could go a long time without worrying about his own mortality.

The holster the gun rested in seemed like it would be a better topic. His face felt cold when the man mentioned his surprise. “ I do hope you know just how hard I’m willing to work to have a decent living somewhere. It’s silly to say since I need a trail run to prove that sort of thing. You’re not the only one that’s been betrayed out here. We’re all suffering. Are you the only one left in this town? Has it dealt with any of the…pests?”

He smiled for the first, then chuckled. He always liked hard-workers.

“I like hard workers. They’re always dedicated to their work--and most times they end up being the most faithful.” 

He noticed the sudden change in attitude when he mentioned the killing before. Trying to come off as more friendly, He ruffled the blond’s hair as comfort. “lighten up, I haven’t killed you, Yet, so I think you’ll be some use to me.”

Marcus good mood softened when he mentioned the town. still there,but less so. “Oh--well, This town is actually one of my mini bases, I use this place to farm vegetables and some fruits because of its rich soil..” 

He walked over to a wooden table in the home. The ground being dirt, you could see grass and flowers growing from the ground as Marc bent down to reach under the table and pull out a basket of fresh produce. He walked back and gave the blond an ear of corn.

“and no,those things don’t like it here. somethin’ about the water...I dont know. But because of that I always try to set up camp in lake-central places.”

It had been a long day and Chris has already suffered through so much. Along his journey further from the city, he made some mistakes. Being held up that way by a stranger didn’t come as a surprise, but to him, it just added to a list of things slowly grinding him into exhaustion. “Mooch off of? Oh no. I was hoping everyone around here would be dead so I could properly scavenge the place.” It could have been the wrong choice of words, but with darkness under his eyes, he didn’t care much. 

“Look man, I’ll work if you need me to. I just have no clue who this Bill person is and it would be nice to eat something that hasn’t expired.” His hand went through his platinum hair and as his arm raised, you could tell he was toned. The infection spreading around could have created a reason for him to be slightly toned. The man was still holding a gun to his pale temple. “Please don’t kill me. I still have things I need to do and I’ve worked too hard to stay alive. If you want me gone, please say so.” He did fear for his life, but it became difficult for him to contain all of his sarcasm. His tone sounded serious enough to himself anyway. 

He moved the gun away.

 His guard suddenly falling and his confident spirit dropped. He looked the blond in his eyes, with his angered look gone his tired and defeated facial features are more noticeable. What made him this way was not by physical means. Ever since the beginning of this whole mess Marcus has been on an emotional roller coaster. The Bill business takes the cake. 

“sorry, i just--sorry.” he sighed. He put his gun away in a self-made leather holster. The holster was nicely crafted. 

“I've been betrayed too often, been hunted,and raided. “ his southern accent very apparent in his speech. 

“what surprises me is I haven’t killed you.”
