list in your status 10 books that have stayed with you in some way. don’t take more than a few minutes and do not think too hard. they do not have to be the ‘right’ books or great works of literature, just ones that have affected you in some way. I found this on @ksfd89
1. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe - C. S. Lewis. My aunt gave the whole paperback box set of the series to me one year for either Christmas or my birthday. We all read the book together in 5th grade and had a screening of the movie. I love the whole series but this one is definitely my favorite of the series.
2. A Series of Unfortunate Events - Lemony Snicket. The first book series I was ever truly obsessed with. When I was in 4th grade I read these so quickly and would return to my school library to eagerly read the next one. I love the fact that both the author and I are alumni from the same high school.
3. White Fang - Jack London. Read this when I was 13. I also love The Call of the Wild but the story of White Fang has resonated with me more.
4. Charlie St. Cloud - Ben Sherwood. A beautiful novel about the bond between two brothers with elements of The Sixth Sense. I used a quote from this book for my high school Senior yearbook quote.
5. Holes - Louis Sachar. One of the first YA novels I ever read. Really well-written with great characters and the movie adaptation is amazing as well.
6. The Phantom Tollbooth - Norton Juster. Definitely a childhood favorite. A really imaginative novel filled with lots of fun puns and interesting characters. I have to re-read it again sometime.
7. Because of Winn-Dixie - Kate DiCamillo. Another childhood favorite with great characters and the movie adaptation is great as well (haven’t re-watched it in a while; I should).
8. Becoming Naomi León - Pam Muñoz Ryan. Probably my first exposure to topics like alcoholism, abusive parenting, child abandonment, and custody battles. I love the realistic depiction of Mexican culture in this book including radish carving/Night of the Radishes. I also love the journey that the main character takes in finding her strength to stand up for herself.
9. Beastly - Alex Flinn. a surprisingly good re-telling of Beauty and the Beast with interesting engaging characters, the 1st novel I ever read from this author that made me a fan of her work, really like all the classic literature and fairy tale references
10. Chamber of Secrets - JK Rowling. The first Harry Potter book I ever read? (judging from old childhood pictures).
I tag anyone that wants to do it.
