There is no point at which anyone has actually seen Hamas "hide behind" civilians unless you stretch that definition to mean "hypothetically exist in the same fifty square miles," but when someone actually does literally "use a human shield," that is supposed to make the army put their guns down and negotiate because even a baby understands that if you still shoot through the human shield you're just a murderer.

It's funny how OP of this post is so smug about their own inability or unwillingness to understand that what people mean when they say "If you need a no-AI policy you don't know how to design assignments" is not "waaaah waaaah I'm a lazy entitled undergrad and assignments that don't let me cheat on them are badly designed" but instead "if your assignment is designed in such a way that it can be passed by plugging it into the inane unsourced bullshit generator 3000 then it's clearly not designed to test for any of the skills it's supposed to be testing for".

Like if you acknowledge that ChatGPT doesn't know how to evaluate sources then you have to acknowledge that clearly it's only capable of producing academic work that should by all accounts get a failing grade regardless of if it's made by an AI or not. If students being able to cheat their way through your course by plugging your assignments into ChatGPT is something that legitimately worries you that's a glaring admission that you'll give a passing grade to anything as long as it's vaguely essay-shaped.
