“your first time?” jaeyoon’s eyes widen a bit in surprise, mostly because he had expected the people who were falling in line to either be fans of the game or have an interest in dancing. however, it seemed like he didn’t fall in either one of them, which got him even more curious. shaking his head, jaeyoon was certain that the game had featured an array of songs. there were a few that he could recognize thanks to him passing by the booth countless times throughout the day.
“it doesn’t from what i could recall. i was hearing a lot of uh— english songs?” jaeyoon ended his statement with a question for he wasn’t quite sure if they were all sung in english. he had based it mostly on the language and it was one that he wasn’t quite fluent in. “usually what i listen to consists of drama osts and ballads, but you don’t usually see people dancing to those kinds of songs.” he lets out a soft chuckle before the staff members signals that there is an area opened for two players. turning towards sunwoo, he suggested, “do you want to join me? it seems like there is one for two players over there.”

Sunwoo nods, unsure if the fact that this was his first time was as bad a thing as the other male was making it sound. How out of his depth could he be? Although the reassurance that it was mostly English made him more at ease. He knew far more English than Korean pop music, simply because he would learn them through studying. “Oh, that’s good,” he replies, letting out a sigh of relief. His gaze flickering towards Jaeyoon who was talking about drama OSTs and ballads. Songs that were closer to Sunwoo’s taste as well, over pop music that he would dance to. A fact that flooded panic through him when they seemed to be signalled by the staff and he’s suddenly a deer in headlights. Did he truly want to do it?

“Uh.. Y-Yeah. I mean.. Yes.” he replied.

a story featuring @rksunwoo !
after taking a break from the tournament, jaeyoon decided to spend his free time looking through the array of video games displayed. while there were a handful that he had heard of before, there were also so many that he had never played or seen until now. eventually he decided to stand in line for what he soon realizes was a rhythm dancing game. seeing that there were a few people ahead of him, he waits patiently until he notices that there is someone else behind him. thinking of striking up a conversation, he looks at the younger individual and smiles.
“have you played this game before? i heard that this series is really popular since they have released so many variations of it.” jaeyoon begins to speak before he catches a glimpse of the three players dancing to bigstar’s bang bang bang. “huh, who would have known that there would be a bigstar song in this game too?” he asks, curious to know what other songs were featured in the game. “oh, i’m jaeyoon by the way.” jaeyoon turns to look at him before bowing his head slightly. if they were going to be waiting in the line for a while, the least thing he could do was introduce himself to a fellow player.

With his phone clasped in his hand, Sunwoo was second guessing his decision to line up to try out for Just Dance. Not that he intended to compete, but he didn’t think it would be welcomed if he kept standing around and watching everyone else play. He was deathly afraid that a stranger might try to ask him questions about the game and if he knew how it worked, and Sunwoo could barely grasp most of what he’d been watching today. There was the prickled sense of someones eyes on him while he was glancing down at his phone and he could feel the impending doom of small talk rising up for the occasion.

(Honestly, he may have been terrified that someone would recognise him and then he’d get in trouble somehow.)

“Hu--?” Sunwoo cut off his shocked exclamation when he caught the end of the strangers question, or statement. He couldn’t tell. His eyes flickering towards where the other looked, seeing the familiar song and dance being played out by three other people. This was out of his league; that was what Sunwoo was thinking. Not that he needed to know the other persons name or that it was ‘weird’ to see the song on the game. “Oh.. Sunwoo. I’m Sunwoo,” he managed out, bowing his head and then trying to dredge up what questions the other boy had asked him while he was in a daze. “I.. This is my first time. I’ve never played before. I’m... I’m bad at dancing,” he confesses, hoping this would suffice as an answer. “I thought they’d only have Korean songs..? Does it.. not?”

—- birthday oppa

rkxsnn‌:

She was so pleased for him because despite all of his struggles he seems to be in a good place and is clearly in love and happy. It made Naeun slightly envious, wondering if she would ever find herself in that sort of situation. Sure she has been infatuated before but to have a significant other, one who cares as much as Jihoon does with her Oppa. She could only be so lucky. “Oh dear! Well, I hope you got your nervousness out of the way. Because there is no way we’re not eating a birthday cake together.” Huffing as she lops her arm around his tightly.
“I remember those parties…” Her voice drifted ever so slightly, looking down at their linked arms. She knew how uncomfortable and unsettled he seemed in those gatherings, where Naeun wanted nothing to do but to hide him away. “But still it was pretty sweet of them.” Referring to Jihoon’s parents as she brightly smiled at Sunwoo. Shaking in disbelief, she purses her lips playfully. “It’s like you don’t know me, Oppa. I’m always hungry. Before, after. Heck even during training. I think most especially during training. I could eat just about anything. Whatchu feeling up to?”

It’s hard not to be bright and happy having Naeun at his side--even if Chaeyoung and Jihoon couldn’t be there with him or celebrate--he knew he always had Naeun there. Especially now that she was a trainee in the same company as him. “Just don’t put scary candles on it and it’ll be okay. Only small ones,” Sunwoo requests, nearly pleads, with her, hoping that wasn’t going to get set on fire for his birthday. It was a true and honest concern. His arm adjusting instinctively to make her hold more comfortably.

The memory of his last birthday like that made Sunwoo grimace, remembering he had hid in the bathroom, not wanting to face either of his parents or the room. It’d been right after he’d learned they were lying to him. He’d never wanted to have another one like that. Even if the face full of fire was scary, he did much prefer the celebration that Jihoon’s parents had given him, a smile widening across his lips at the more recent memory. “They’re always really nice to me when I’m there. I think they like me more than Jihoon,” Sunwoo replies with a faint chuckle, one that turns into a louder laugh when Naeun speaks of how hungry she is. “I was just checking! Maybe trainee ruined your appetite. I haven’t asked about your stomach recently. It might have had a personality change now that it’s a trainee,” he jokes--or hopes he sounds joking--as he speaks. “And I.. feel like.. pasta? I haven’t had a nice pasta in a while. What about you?”

— the checklist

rkgray‌:

“Do you think so?” He asked, chuckling shyly. There had been a time, when there wasn’t much interest in fashion inside of him, but at the sight of everyone else, fellow trainees, friends or random strangers on the street GRAY had developed some kind of interest in creating his own fashion style. He wanted to show the world his swag that wasn’t as trashy as people would imagine older rappers. With a smile he looks over to Sunwoo while he still holds onto both garments.
The stuttering in Sunwoo’s voice made him kind of suspicious. As if the younger weren’t expecting him to agree in Sunwoo’s suggestion to change shops. He seemed to be distracted as well, distracted and a little down as far as the older man could tell.
GRAY was pretty oblivious, when it came to lies, but even he could see that Sunwoo was thinking of other things than about the trip they would engage in at the end of the month. The rapper didn’t felt in a position to ask him what was wrong, but at the same time there was the urge to offer his support nonetheless. They might not be the closest, but Sunwoo was still a precious and talented hoobae GRAY wanted to take care of, as this was the only thing he was able to do for now.
But he also wasn’t the type to suddenly call him out like that, but instead he wanted to approach it on a more gentle note, so that he still would be able to get out. “I am borrowing the snowboard, so I just need the clothes.” Dark orbs muster Sunwoo who was doing his best to hide his emotions, but it was already too late.
Sharing meant caring, wasn’t it?
While he looked around a little, the rapper gently tapped the other’s shoulder. “Sunwoo-ah… I know, we aren’t close friends or close colleagues… but I just want you to know that I am willing to listen to your stories. Even when I might not be able to find any soluations to your problem, it will share the frustration between 2 peope.

While he was good with colours, trends and cuts were beyond Sunwoo’s level of skill with fashion--he didn’t know their names or how to describe them or what they would do--but he liked to believe he had an eye for it. He’d seen his mother pick out clothing for hours at a time, try each item on and complain about the details enough. That had to give him some experience in clothing and what would look good. Convictions he kept to himself as he nodded. “Yes. You will look very cool, sunbae. I promise. I wouldn’t lie,” he assures the older male, while mentally reassuring himself that he did know what he was talking about.

Sunwoo liked to believing he was hiding what was going on well; he used to be very good at stifling away any emotion he shouldn’t experience. The problem he was finding was that it meant he was alone, that he had no one he could talk to or be honest with. When he missed Chaeyoung during the SN Project, or when Jihoon was too busy with Convex to see him, it was a weight that was pressing on his chest and he didn’t know how to deal with the suffocating nature of it. Sometimes he did art or worked on lyrics, or sung a song, but there were remnants, bled and stained, that he couldn’t seem to get rid of.

Weaknesses that came from becoming structurally unsound from holding in everything. He truly didn’t want to burden or dampen the mood with Gray while they were shopping. Everyone was excited for the trip at the end of the month; Sunwoo wanted to be as well.

“That’s good. A snowboard would cost a lot to buy. It’s very smart to do it like that,” he compliments, trying to brighten up his expressions more. Although he could feel it at the edges of what he was doing, unable to reach the trueness and sincerity he was hoping for. The inside of his bottom lip bitten onto and he looks away, hoping that Gray wouldn’t take notice. Shopping should have served as a good enough distraction. A belief Sunwoo was convincing himself of when Gray tapped his shoulder, and he swivelled his head to look back at the older trainee.

He didn’t expect what came from Gray next, Sunwoo’s smile sinking away and his gaze averting. Sunwoo self-consciously tugging at the sleeve of his shirt, and then the hem, as if he could cover up what was on his mind. There was a guilt, knowing that Gray had sensed his mood, and more, at the consideration of lying and saying he was fine. “I.. just had a fight with my father, earlier this month, and then with a friend. I made him and his parents worry so much about me. He was upset and mad at me,” Sunwoo explains softly, rubbing his nape. “I’m just worried about it. I don’t want to do the wrong thing, but I feel like I need to do something to fix it.”

❝ — sharing is caring ,

for a moment, she contemplates taking all the credit for the homemade goods in front of her, but as soon as she has the thought, her sister’s disapproving face appears in her head, vivid as the food in front of her. her nose wrinkles in distaste at her conscience doing such a thing to her, but as much as she hates the feeling of guilt that takes over her, she knows she would never take credit for her sister’s work. she couldn’t bake to save a life, and doesn’t think it would be believable anyway if she’d told the lie. she doesn’t think she looks like the type of person who would be good at it. “no, my sister made it,” she admits, smiling sheepishly even though sunwoo had no idea about the moral dilemma she’d had for that split second. “she’s really good at baking, but doesn’t get to often. so she made me a bunch.”
she slides the box forward a bit so that he can get a good look at what’s inside. the smell is still pungent and her mouth waters at the thought of tasting it. no longer able to resist, she pulls one out and tears it apart, the top cookie crust crumbling apart as she does so. “it’s a sweet bread from japan,” she says before taking a generous bite, reveling in its taste for a moment, chewing slowly with her eyes closed, before continuing on with her explanation. “it doesn’t actually taste like melon, though. just in case you don’t taste it and get disappointed.” she continues eating, then hurriedly adds, “it’s still really good, though!”

There’s an immediate appreciation at learning that Momo’s sister had made the bread that was being offered towards him. Not only did it look skilfully prepared, but the other trainee was willing to share home-baked goods. Sunwoo’s eyes widening and smiling as he listened to Momo compliment her sisters baking. They must have close. “Really? It does look very good. Like a professional -- but I bet it tastes better, since it’s home-baked?” He happily replies, not wanting it to appear for a second that he was going to take the offer for granted. It warmed his heart more than likely could have explained. From when they went to the festival, talking about face paint and trying it out for the first time, to sharing the Spiderman comics, and now Momo was coming to him with some new food to try, that someone from her family have lovingly baked for her.

It felt like they were friends. It was hard not to smile at that.

From looking amazing, to smelling amazing, and it even looked to crumble beautifully when Momo tore it apart. It made Sunwoo want to taste it more than ever, seeing how delicious every part of it seemed. “Ah -- I don’t think I could be disappointed, even if doesn’t taste like melon,” he replies, shaking his head and flashing a smile at her. There was an excitement and anticipation bubbling in his stomach to have one now, a sensation growing more and more as he nudges his books aside, closing them away from sight. “I’m sure it’ll taste delicious. Especially since you’re sharing it with me and your sister made it,” Sunwoo assured her, as if she might need convincing to let him try. “It’ll be my first time trying it too. It’ll set the standard for any other ones I have in the future.”

He grins at her. “The standard looks like it will be very high.”

— experiencing the playoffs

Games had not been a part of Sunwoo’s life until he’d met Jihoon and they’d started dating. He’d learned how to play League of Legends from one of his boyfriend’s friends and did try to to practice every week, hoping to one day be good enough to play with Jihoon one day. Not that he was anywhere close to be an expert. It was why he stood with his phone, clasped in his hands and stared up at the screens that everyone else was, hoping no one would ask him any questions. As long as he looked like he knew what he was doing, eventually he would figure it out -- or he’d avoid having people ask if he knew what he was doing. His teeth edging over his bottom lip, tapping his phone against the palm of his hand and peeking around to see if other people were taking pictures.
He wanted to take some pictures for Jihoon, in case he didn’t get the time off to see it.
Sunwoo subtly glanced down at his phone, opening up his camera and double checking if the flash was off. There was nervous prickles down his nape, snapping a few pictures and then closing it down, pretending he was typing a message to friend. He swallowed down the lump in his throat, furrowing his brow as he tried to focus back on the game they were play and who was winning. It was hard to grasp what was happening and why. So far, he’d learned that the game was called, ‘Injustice’, and they were competing in some sort of battle. Beyond that, he was oblivious. He tried to use his knowledge of League of Legends, but he couldn’t fit the pieces together.
It might as well have been a foreign language to Sunwoo as he stood there, lingering a bit longer after the match had ended, and mouthing what was on the screen to himself, as if the announcement of the winner would help. Slowly he focused back down at his phone. He truly wished that Jihoon could have been there with him, explaining what was happening and who had won; if the game was even difficult or easy to win. Maybe they could have held hands again, like they had at the zoo that time.
Would Jihoon have been able to do that now that he was an idol? Would they ever be able to go on normal dates like other couples did?

★ AUGUST EVALUATIONS song : < cosmo > by, pentagon (lyric dist.) group members : @taeminrk, @rkljhyun, @rkseungjoon, @changminxrk, @rkhyunjoon, @rkhyojeong, @kunrk

The nervous flutter in Sunwoo’s heart was near thrilling as he found his position in the space in front of the coaches. Japanese was not a language he’d ever been interested in learning before. There had been no reason to study it, but he’d had fun learning each of the words. It reminded him of when he’d started to study French and English, and how there had been an excitement whenever he managed to recognise something new. He knew--deep down--he was hardly prepared to perform in the language and he relied far more on remembering the sounds rather than the words. Sunwoo liked to follow them as if they were music notes, string them together with his vocals and hope that the coaches wouldn’t realise what he was doing. If he had to perform alone, he would have been worse off; he only had six to seven lines which he needed to perfect, and some of it was (thankfully) English.

He truly didn’t know how Kun and Hyunjoon managed to work with the number of successive lines they did in the song. Sunwoo knew he would have messed it up. He didn’t want that on his conscience. It was weighed on enough.

// diversion  | sunwoo & gray

rkgray‌:

It surprises him every single time how many kind and gentle souls were lingering in KT. The trainees GRAY talked with her often om the softer and sweeter side and the rapper couldn’t deny he disliked it. KT meant Kind Treasure to him, a place where most people looked out for each other, checked on one another and cared for their fellow trainees. He was amazed and touched how well developed this trait was within the rows of KT trainees, how empathic the younger trainees were towards someone like him. It ashamed him a little to have focused so much on his pain and disappointment to have almost missed such sweet approachings and encounters.
The male shoke his head and patted Sunwoo’s shoulder. “You aren’t a bother. I like to have someone accompanying me, whenever I ride home. It makes me feel less lonely.” The corners of his lips curl up into a gentle smile. Giving the younger a ride back home sounded like a good opportunity to get to know him a little better and strengthen their relationship that was hopefully on the rise. Besides the rapper felt like there had to be a reason for Sunwoo to come up to him like this.
“Ah, don’t be silly. No need to pay for that little amount of petrol~” GRAY made a waving gesture, assuring him that it was totally fine. He liked to do favours for others and help them out anyway. Socialization filled him up his saddened and let his bad mood shrink bit by bit. He was going to be ok, knowing that there were good kids like Sunwoo.
He lead the fellow trainee to his black mid-range car and opened the door for the other to get in. Then he got into the driver’s seat himself and prepared the navigation system. “Where should I drop you off?” After settling everything, he looked over to Sunwoo to make sure he was putting on the seatbelt and be safe. Then he played a tape that contained a few of his songs and parts of them. Music was what connected them and music was what would make Sunwoo feel more at ease. At least that was what GRAY hoped.

Hearing Gray mention his loneliness of driving home alone, Sunwoo couldn’t help but wonder if that was a white lie to ease his conscience or the truth. The latter conclusion made him question whether the older trainee felt lonely in other places, and other ways. Especially when it came to KTROOKIES. He hoped that those who were not apart of the group were not left lonely, being stuck on the outside of the group and denied a place. It reminded Sunwoo of high school and how he had been that person, he had been the trainee watching KTROOKIES gather together and do fun things, and wondering what it was like to have that. Something. Someone. Some purpose beyond his own existence. He hoped it wasn’t like that for them.

Sunwoo smiled as he nodded, glancing at Gray and settling that the older trainee was being honest about his wants and feelings. He did seem, genuinely, to be happy and want some company for the drive home and didn’t mind if no petrol was paid for. “Okay, but.. if you change your mind. I’ll pay,” he decides to offer in response, adjusting the strap of his bag once again and hoping that if Gray did want any form of repayment, he would speak up. A couple steps jogged to catch up to Gray’s side and follow him towards the car.

Once he was inside the car, he fumbled to find a place to put his bag as he tugged the seatbelt across himself and he ended up settling with having his backpack rested in his lap. Both arms wrapped around it securely. Somehow this felt safer and more comfortable to him in the foreign vehicle. He’d truly only been in the car when his mother was driving or his father’s driver was, or those few times he went places with Jihoon’s parents. His head swivelling around, glancing over everything and then focusing on the navigation system. “Uh..” slipping from his lips.

There was a rush of panic, wondering how he could give an address and explain he was living with his boyfriends parents -- without, admitting, he was living with his boyfriends parents. Sunwoo swallowing down before he gives the address. “It’s my friends home. I.. I’m staying with him and his parents, since.. I left home,” he struggled through the explanation, feeling a need to be somewhat honest and still protect Jihoon. He scratched the back of his neck as music was set up, beginning to play and he gnawed on his bottom lip for a few moments, before he looked over at Gray. “Thank you, for offering me a ride.”

rksungho

resigned to re-sign.

even becoming more amicable with the boy, even starting to consider the kid a friend, it’s still a shame that sungho and sunwoo’s senses of humor don’t quite line up. he hears the jokes that the boy makes, but his own responses are dry and a bit literal; sunwoo might have laughed at his words, but it wasn’t out of humor. in a worse mood, sungho might have gotten frustrated, angry. but he’s still in better spirits than that; being kept in kt and his upcoming vacation keep him light and pleasant for once in his life.
“just be careful,” he warns the kid. nothing worse than getting hurt on the job. the coaches never liked it much either. “you’re young and you’ll bounce back quick, but it’s a real bitch to deal with.”
sungho cares, even if he doesn’t often show it.
he sees the kid smiling just a hair too wide, but sungho pretends not to see it. or at least, he tries. his own smile flickers a little bit wider, an unheard of expression to be on his face in this day and age. at least someone is happy that he decided to stay, for better or worse. “not that long,” he says, casually as if he doesn’t notice some restraint in sunwoo’s words. “the first two went pretty fast. i’d think the next to might be even faster now.”
though who knows. he could still be kicked out and thrown on the streets by next week.
and then he actually laughs, his humor good enough to allow such an expression of emotion in a place he wouldn’t be caught dead having it on a normal day. sunwoo’s defensiveness is endearing in a sort of pitiful way, how he seems to resent sungho’s teasing. “well after the first misunderstanding, i had to be sure,” sungho’s smile is more relaxed than it had ever been in this place; how long such a good mood would last was still out to the jury.
sunwoo sounds like a kid who was told that they’d be skipping christmas this year, and sungho has the heart to be a little sympathetic for the boy. he still doesn’t understand why the kid likes him so much, why he always seems to want to impress him, but he knows what it was like to have a hero, someone he looked up to. not that he thinks he’s deserving of that kind of attention, but what can he do about it now? “i guess i’m gonna miss it,” he shrugs. “you’ll have to show me when i get back. card magic is usually better close up anyways, isn’t it?”

Out of all their conversations in the past, this might have been the most amicable and least tense between them. Not that Sunwoo noticed it in the moment, focused on the sentiment that came with Sungho telling him to be careful and that he’ll bounce back. His lashes fluttering at the curse word, but nonetheless, nodding his head. “Yes, hyung,” coming from his lips without much secondary thought. “I’ll be careful.” And he did mean his words, if Sungho was asking him to be careful, he would be extra careful.

When Sunwoo had signed to KT, he hadn’t thought he’d get along with everyone else. It had been like that every time he changed high schools. The struggle to fit in, the isolation when he couldn’t find a friendship group, and the doubts that bubbled up over whether he was a good friend, an interesting person; worth anyone’s time. Sunwoo had never been in the position since he started middle school, where he could see and be around people he considered friends, every day.

He was beyond ecstatic believing he would continue to see Sungho for two more years now.

“I hope they don--” Sunwoo cringed one of his eyes shut when his voice slipped out before he could work out if he was saying the right thing. Both hands pressed flat to his knees, fidgeting in the spot and then glancing at Sungho, “I mean.. I want it to go fast, but.. not too fast that I forget or don’t get to do everything I want to.” (With hyung, was kept himself.) “You still have to make me into a better dancer,” was the best excuse he had instead.

Sunwoo scratches the back of his neck, sitting taller and trying to show off that he wasn’t a child anymore; he was this tall. His bottom lip jutted out and his nose crinkled more. “I’m not.. stupid. I can figure things out on my own. I could have asked someone too.. I would have figured it out though!” He continues to protest, gaze darting around as if he would find a concrete retort written somewhere on the walls. “I got into one of the hardest universities in Seoul. I’m smarter than I look.

Studying and book smarts never translated well to real life though.

It’s difficult to keep his expression from growing momentarily sullen. He didn’t know why he wanted Sungho to see it, but it was likely because this was something he thought would make him look cool in the older trainees eyes and even if he had two more years to do it, he wanted to do it quickly. There was no expectation for Sungho to mention showing him when he gets back, Sunwoo peering up at the older and then down at his cards. “Do you want to see it after? It--It is really cool, especially up close. And I’ll have practice and done it in front of the coaches already, so.. I’ll be even better at it when you see it. It will look cooler then--?” His speaking pace increased with excitement and then stilted when he had a secondary doubt.

“Will you really want to see it when you come back?”

⤷ what is love

rkxkjd‌:

“you and me both. i wouldn’t label myself as a dancer to be honest, and yet we were still up there” he replied back with a small laugh. whatever the kt staff was thinking of that time to make them centers, he hoped that the data gathered from it were relevant to their initial reasoning. it might not have officially been an evaluation, but who’s to say that there wasn’t some coach out there who made these decisions to see how well they would do? or something. his rational brain told him that there was a reasoning for everything.
talking about the festival maybe helped little to assuage their current predicament. that focused on dancing and synchronization, but now they had to worry about their tone and harmony. “i mean, it’s a song about love, or a budding love. something like that. maybe having some dating experience could help you.”
there’s a pause in between his thoughts, the way that this was going and tangents his synapses were reaching for other ideas turned a little towards uncertainty. mainly because there was an assumption he had about sunwoo that was coming from a previous conversation months back that he wanted to voice, although he guessed he could consider it sensitive. he wanted to say that there was an educated guess, but he could always take up some better precautions in the off chance he’s wrong. so he started it off with a step closer towards the younger, leaning in and lowering his voice until it was just above a whisper, despite the fact that they were the only two in the room. “or you can maybe start thinking of your boyfriend? girlfriend? if you’re still dating them. that would help with emotion.”
he pulled back and stood straighter again, feeling that little tug that maybe his words weren’t helping. he lifted up his lyrics sheet to look over, hoping that maybe this time something would jump out at him, and he ran his fingers through his hair. “or if reality doesn’t help, then maybe think of a good romantic story or movie that you might have watched that might fit this. or make your own. i trust that you could do that given you’re creative and all, if you really wanted to go that way.”

Unlike Jongdae, Sunwoo couldn’t help the lingering questions of why KT had selected them for the dance stage and now why they were picking them for this song. It might have been his childhood with his mother, having her smile and be nice, only to turn and use it against him; earn his trust and betray him. There was an uneasiness that came with receiving anything good that he couldn’t shake, expecting the other shoe to drop and to suffer. He kept thinking these were tests or mistakes, and he didn’t know which was worse. The sheets of lyrics in his hands determining something that he didn’t understand, and was certain he was going to fail at.

But the mention of dating experience made him suddenly wonder if it was a test on whether they would show they were breaking contract. A trick into having them breakdown into a confession that they were doing something wrong. “Dating experience could help?” Sunwoo echoed, trying to work out if he was thinking far too hard about it. He did have the tendency to overthink about everything placed in front of him.

With his mind in a frazzled panic, he doesn’t notice how Jongdae moves closer or how his voice softens, or register the entirety of the question -- what it meant and the depth. His mind was on Jihoon, more so when the older suggests singing the song to his boyfriend and he stares at the lyrics, wondering if he could sing such words to him. A pressure squeezing on his conscious, trying to force out an answer to what he was meant to do and how he was meant to do it. He didn’t want to mess up and he had the mounting feeling that he was going to if he didn’t work out how to sing with the proper emotion. “I.. don’t really call my boyfriend pet names. It’s awkward,” Sunwoo confesses, focusing more on the problem he was faced with rather than what he was truly telling Jongdae. They’d had the conversation, months ago, over dating and how it would work out while being a trainee.

Sunwoo’s lashes fluttering a second later, turning his head to look at Jongdae and then jerking back around to stare at the lyric sheet. The tips of his fingers pressing into the paper firmer, clutching onto the sheets with a faint desperation to know what to say. His heart throbbing in his ears. “I mean.. I think..” He fumbles out, between heavy breaths, unable to dig himself back out of what he’d said. A flush running up his neck, shoulders rising up higher and head ducking lower. Maybe Jongdae hadn’t heard what he said. “... it would be...”

we’re the cool guys ❝ sunwoo & aron

aronrk‌:

It was exciting, even more so when he had a buddy that seemed to play well with his make-belief stories. There’s something thrilling about this endeavor like it was a dare game, one of the few that he’s played even back in the US after a few drinks down his throat. But this wasn’t quite the same for Sunwoo, and he shouldn’t be surprised. Steps stalling when there was a tug, he turned around with a questioning look.
He actually did felt back, because Sunwoo had never done something that would ‘break the rules’, and perhaps Aron did make it more dramatic than it actually was. “Hey, don’t worry,” he laughed, waving his hand in the air before reaching up to pat the younger. He’s never had a younger brother, but Sunwoo did remind him of his youngest sister at that very moment. As he always thought, Sunwoo was a good child that was ‘too pure for the world’, or so that was what the netizens would say.
“We’re just going to ask the concierge if they have a shuttle service, or a spare ride for us, or really if we can’t hitch a free ride, we can always grab a cab, you know?” he smiled, a little amused, but also trying to be a more reassuring senior that he should be. Certainly, he liked to try his luck, but also there’s enough plan B if anything doesn’t go well. That said, he added, “it’s not going to be illegal or anything. Nothing out of a thriller action movie, at least.”
The male added a wink, “follow my lead.”

There were two voices in Sunwoo’s head at that second, one telling him that he might have just ruined any chance of looking cool in front of Aron by asking confirmation and the second one, sighing in relief that they weren’t going to be actually doing anything that would get them in trouble. It was not simple to turn off the rush of panic that rushed through him at the thought of break a rule, both thrilling and utterly terrifying all at once.

Slowly Sunwoo nodded, accepting the words of the older trainee as the truth. Not that he thought Aron would put him in danger or cause him harm, but people had very different ideas of what would cause that and Sunwoo knew his was weaker than most. “Okay. I trust you,” he responds, feeling the need to assure Aron that he wasn’t questioning his character. “I--” The confession that he’s not used to this type of game is swallowed down, not wanting to look childish.

“I just wanted to make sure.”

He doesn’t know why his heart races a little faster when Aron winks and tells him to follow his lead. Somehow twisted with the idea that he might have been missing some hidden code in Aron’s words, but he couldn’t deal with that now. All he could do was follow behind Aron and hope that he was putting his trust in someone who didn’t have ill intentions for him. Sunwoo hastily closing the space to walk next to Aron, and glancing over at him, not wanting to miss some secret signal for their secret mission.

— japanese 101: dumbfounded

ImageImage
With three languages under his belt, Sunwoo had assumed that learning Japanese would be easier for him. The stack of books staring up at him from the floor of the KT studio as he stared into the foreign symbols and characters in a dumbfounded state.
He had already spent the painstaking hours transliterating the Japanese lyrics to Korean, and had wanted to believe he would have sounded more fluent if he learned more than necessary for the evaluation. They were running classes to help them through the month -- but Sunwoo disliked being unprepared for them. A state that he may have had to adapt to with how slowly he was understanding the books in front of him; black and red ink scribbled through the pages, filled with question marks and questions to ask the coaches when they were in the class.
For the hundredth time that hour, he glanced over at his phone and then reached out to click a button, smiling at the picture of Jihoon that was his background. All he wanted to do was text message him or call him, complain about how difficult it was. An impulse he strangled out, knowing Jihoon likely had it harder, constantly having schedules and preparing for comebacks; learning choreography and songs. It seemed childish to be stressed about one song, even if it was in a foreign language.
His finger tapped to the screen, considering Chaeyoung next and then Hosung. Both of who were preparing for debuts already, and he shook his head at the idea of bothering either of them. As soon as his eyes fell back to his book, he slumped forward over them and buried his face into his arms. English hadn’t seemed as difficult, even French had come to him with a bit more ease. Or was he remembering those times wrong.
Back then, all he had to do was classes and painting, and listen to his mother.
It had seemed easier to focus too.
Now his mind wandered, to training, to his job, to his classes at university, to his friends, to his boyfriend -- each one, piling onto the next part and they were far more interesting than the text that was mocking him with how it could sound so simple and yet, he got every practice question wrong. Sunwoo scratching the back of his head, huffing out an annoyed breath as he decided to try again. He had to do this. He had to show KT that he could do this too. They were the one who were asking this from him. He didn’t want to disappoint the coaches by not even putting in the proper effort.
