Hey! What notebooks/journals do you use? ☺️

Avatar

hey hey!! have no clue when this was asked so my apologies if this is late but this answer has all the links i've used in the past: https://acadernia.tumblr.com/post/660865712587472896/hello-dear-i-saw-your-post

if it helps, I don't really have a brand that I'm particularly loyal to at the moment— I genuinely just look up dotted notebooks on amazon until I find one I like whenever I'm starting a new one haha. I'm also a bit of a cheapskate with this stuff so more often than not I just choose the cheapest options where the reviews say the paper quality is still good tbh

hope that helps!!! i'll hopefully get around to posting pictures of my ottergami journal soon because it is so great

hi jas! i heard that you were triple majoring (or is it just double? i'm not sure) but i'm graduating from high school this year and thinking of double majoring in college but i was confused about something. i know that in college, people usually have advisors and i was curious how it was like meeting with them for the first time and discussing your plan and what classes to take?? my high school counselor forced me to take some classes that i didn't really like and it was so awful. in your experience, did your advisor sometimes choose the classes/your schedule for you? and did they ever discourage you from doing multiple majors?? i hope it's alright to ask! i hope you're well :)

hey hey sorry if this is late!! i am probably not triple majoring anymore (leaving my 4th year mostly open for fun/psych classes, so i'm just aiming on finishing econ/math reqs) — but i find that at a lot of schools, double majoring is made super easy! advisors imo are also a lot less controlling in college (at least in my experience) — I came into my first-year advisor meetings with a pretty good idea of what I wanted to take, and she pretty much just let me. Advisors may give you advice—which you can choose to follow or not (generally I don't LOL because I find that upperclassmen/other students give better advice)— but you should never be required to go with what they decide.

I'm sorry to hear it happened to you in high school!! Taking classes that don't interest me definitely demoralizes me a lot and usually means I don't produce work I'm as proud of, so it's definitely really annoying. except for graduation requirements, you shouldn't have to worry about it at all in college! multiple majors can be very smooth to take on so long as you plan in advance. best of luck!! :)

HI JAS!! how are you doing lately?

HI!!!! and happy new year— break has passed by so quickly and i have been completely unproductive (mostly as planned??) ! school got pushed back a week and we'll be going remote for two weeks as well— hope everyone's staying safe!

reading-wise, i wrapped up mindwise by nicholas epley and writers and lovers by lily king. loved the first, thought the latter was okay ?¿ i also wrapped up some 2021 writing pieces, which i'm super happy about, because i've had a bit of a creative block for the past couple of months. otherwise, i've spent the past couple of weeks getting super into stardew valley and settlers of catan, haha

i never got around to making an update post on the past quarter, but it was the busiest i've ever been in my life (got pretty burnt out by the end)— took proof-based lin alg, analysis, python, and econ for classes, and started work as a research assistant for a social psych lab + teaching assistant for calc, both of which have been pretty rewarding experiences. that being said, I don't think I ever want to commit to that much ever again— pretty brutal quarter overall.

so! some goals for the new year: I'd like to continue research + teaching, participate in escapril again, make more time to be with friends + write/draw/read. my reading goal this year is 20 books (last year was 25— too difficult T_T). and i'd like to commit more to this blog, even if i'm not taking photos — i've never really done misc. update posts because i don't think they'd be interesting to others, but at the same time, i did make this blog to track my own progress / work as a sort of visual journal for me, and so i don't want to lose track of that either ?¿ not sure! i'll figure it out LMAO . I do think I'm at the point in my college career where I might be able to put together helpful guides / resources, so looking at that as well (stuff like reaching out to professors, putting together 4-year plans, getting involved in research, etc)!! :)

anyways— lots of rambling— but thanks for checking in and i hope you are safe & well!! have a wonderful new year and here's to a great 2022 :)<3

or; an introduction.

۞ · 안녕하세요! — hello! i have (mostly) been lurking on the writeblr side of things for several years now, but with my academics picking up and my tendency to ignore things until three days before the (self-appointed) deadline (rip), i decided to give the studyblr/langblr community a try. this is not the first time i have attempted an introduction, although, tbh, i posted nothing and actually deleted! my blog! several times! with no increase in productivity! bc i stuck at getting anything done under marginally normal circumstances! despite the obsessive use of notion and color coding!! hopefully this time it sticks—fingers crossed, sksksksk, but y'all have been duly warned

  • study/live abroad — this is something that i’ve always to do, tbh, but i never really settled on a specific country or school (although living in Dubai for a year or two is definitely on my bucket list). recently, i’ve been looking into academic opportunities in South Korea and studying there (at any one of the SKY universities, maybe?) has become more and more of a dream that i’m hoping will come true eventually. if you’ve studied in/been accepted to/graduated from any universities or language schools in SK (specifically in Seoul or Busan), pls interact! i’d love to hear from you <333

Hello dear ^^ I saw your post /648577402864287744/041521-spring-quarter-snippets-unfortunately-on and I was wondering where do you get your notebooks?? I am starting uni this fall and am very particular so I am looking for some nice notebooks that are grid/dotted. Not a big fan of moleskin notebooks so if you have any suggestions I would really appreciate it! Ps. your blog is very inspiring and it really makes me excited to go back to school lol

thank you so much !! this was a very sweet message + i hope you have a great year when you get back to school <3

- i used a blank paper notebook last year that i can't find the brand of (my dad got it at a conference overseas)

- my dotted notebook from last year is an artist's loft notebook from michael's! (paper quality isn't super heavy, but it's a pretty good choice for the price)

- pretty sure my grid notebook was just a generic brand from walmart or staples, but i didn't love it— i don't typically use grid notebooks so i don't have too many suggestions there D:

- finished my dotted notebook from last year and i'm currently using this one, which is small but pretty cheap and the paper quality is great: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FCH8FSW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
