The armour he wore felt foreign on his skin. This didn't surprise him—not after months in thrall to the Emperor. Emeridan didn't remember putting it on, yet his body seemed to have a memory of its own. For all the durasteel plating and buckles his movements were fluid and came natural to him. Clearly, he had grown accustomed to wearing it.

They had been making their way past the Dealer’s Den when a young human who was part of a group of party-goers stepped into their path. He wore a big smile on his painted lips that spoke of Corellian brandy and other, more questionable substances, and his hands were clasped in front of him in admiration.
Beside him, Master Emeridan stopped. He seemed, at least temporarily, at a loss for words.

It's not long after they first set foot on Belsavis that they find themselves trapped underground in one of the many maximum security wings. This one's been overtaken by a band of Rattataki, and they've taken hostages – other prisoners that the Republic warden back in the safety of the outpost has assured him are far from innocent. But Emeridan has seen the Republic's definition of 'guilty' here on Belsavis: it includes people who suffer continuously for the crimes of their progenitors. It's not right, and he'll be damned if he deliberately adds to their suffering.
And so here they are – Lord Scourge and he – barricaded behind a few crates that make for bad cover. The exit, they know, is just around the corner but the Rattataki's blaster fire is relentless and even if they manage to deflect some of the bolts it'll only hurt the other prisoners, a few twi'leks and humans that have been caught in the crossfire and are now begging for their lives. Guilty or not, these people are hostages, and Emeridan simply refuses to put any of them at risk – not if he can help it.

The Knight is kneeling in the middle of the high-ceilinged chamber. Head bent low, fingers entwined in his lap, toes of his boots digging into the uncomfortable grating of the floor panels he is stillness, like a puppet whose invisible strings have been cut. Scourge has been watching him for close to an hour now. The man hasn't moved since, yet the shadows around him have grown deeper and more substantial. They're seeping into the cracks of a mind that is no longer his own, and Scourge fears that the vision of him he's had so long ago is buried too far beneath the Emperor's will for him to reach.
The door to his quarters are always open so it's almost entirely unsurprising when after a quick trip down to the cargo hold to keep himself updated on one of Tharan Cedrax' many projects Ky'dren finds himself face-to-face with Zenith.
This is a (very, very dark) AU ending to KotET so I’m putting everything safely behind a cut.
