Billy stumbles up the stairs in the dark, his dark gloves grabbing the banister as he curses, knees sore from fucking having to crawl around in the sewers, rats biting at his ankles.
He reaches the landing, “Didja fall in a toilet?” You ask, fingers gripping your door, and your hamster Charlotte. Even in the dark, with the sewer sludge on him, he finds you endearing, soft. A fairy in a mushroom house in the forest, cooking soup and humming to yourself.
If you can’t have fun with one another, you don’t have much. Little bit dark and a little bit fluffy, so sweet 💜💜💜

You walked into the hardware store, adjusting your beanie that was wet with rain. It was September but already cold and rainy.
You stopped as you moved through a section of ceiling fans, and lights glowing above you, and nostalgia hit you like a truck. You remembered being there with your parents before they divorced. You always had the habit of wandering off because something shiny caught your eye, so your mother held your hand tightly.
Billy nudged you, his shoulder bumping yours, bringing you back to the present, “Like the ceiling fans, pansy?” He asked, his warm voice made you feel warm.
“It made me think of my parents, in their happier days.” You said, some of the fans had light fixtures in them, and the glow comforted you. You hated the dark.
Billy took your hand like your mother, and in many ways he reminded you of her. Tender with you while being hard to others, a smoker, strong after her tough childhood.
You squeezed his hand, following him.
You wouldn’t wander off from him. Never.
I’m not really handy but I love going to the hardware store. It’s sweet he can be a comfort for her💜💜💜

The familiar wave of nausea washed over you as you stood at the stove trying to cook dinner without running to the bathroom. You learned quickly when you were pregnant with Little Raven that morning sickness didn’t always strike in the morning and that it basically showed its ugly face whenever it wanted to.
There were only a couple of scents that triggered your morning sickness and continued to bother you even after you had given birth. You had a favorite perfume that you wore every day before you got pregnant with Anna and now you couldn’t stand the smell of it on anyone and had to get rid of the nearly full bottle Billy had given you as a gift because it made you sick to your stomach.
The aroma of any meat cooking was what was bothering you at the moment but you weren’t positive you were pregnant yet. It was a very high possibility though. Just a handful of weeks ago, you and Billy had a wild romp in his tattoo chair.

My mom had a similar childhood to Billy’s. Wasn’t even allowed to listen to music, go to movies or her friend’s house. Her foster mother was a strict a Christian, and my mom faced the stuff Billy did. I think it’s one of the reasons I have so much empathy for Billy. I’d want to give him everything he never had, love and a space to do the things he never got to growing up. I loved this, Ericca. It really hit home on why I love Billy. Great writing, my friend. 💜
