I know not everything needs my commentary but if I don’t speak I will literally die…

I have never felt a statement more. I just need to talk. It’s my version of self care.

Nessian goes shopping for groceries and Casssian buys condoms and Nesta freaks out! Sexual tension=⬆️🏠

Avatar

Thanks for the request, friend! I haven’t written Nessian in a hot minute, this should be fun ;)

~~~~~
“Nesta, my dear-”
Don’t call me dear,” Nesta snapped, struggling not to look over at Cassian’s hulking form as he leaned over the shopping cart, pushing it at her side. She bet those veins in his forearms were popping out with tension, his shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbow as if he knew how that drove her crazy. Stupid, teasing, annoyingly handsome brute. “Look I wanted a peaceful evening running errands by myself, but now you’re here.” She could practically feel Cassian’s smirk. “So how about you just not talk at all and I don’t kick you in the dick?”
Cassian chuckled, not unnerved in the slightest at her venomous words. He was the only person she’d met that was completely unintimidated by her.
It was infuriating.
“You know I’m thankful that Feyre suggested we go shopping together,” Cassian said. “I think you’re nicer to me when the others aren’t around.”
Nesta put a hand on the shopping cart, bringing it - and Cassian - to a screeching halt. She met his hazel eyes, knowing good and well her own were churning with irritation.
“Listen to me, you prick,” she hissed, leaning down until her face was mere inches from his own. “I am never nice to you. I have no desire to be nice to you or to spend time with you or to go shopping with you like some sort of unrealistic domestic bliss that you should stop fantasizing about right now. The only reason I let you come with me is because Feyre asked me to and I’m trying to be a better sister to her. It has nothing to do with you, do you understand that?”
Cassian just grinned. “You know you’re really serious? It’s a grocery run Nesta, not a romantic vacation. Though if you want to do that together too, I certainly wouldn’t be opposed. How do you feel about Jamaica?”
Nesta hated herself for it, but she stomped her foot like a child and let out a little scream as she turned on her heel and strode off towards the food section of the supermarket.
“I’ll be over in toiletries!” Cassian called after her with a laugh. His laughter only got louder when Nesta shot him the middle finger over her shoulder.
Hi! I'm looking for book recommendations! I adored the ACOTAR series, and am looking for something similar/of the same style. I tried to get into SJM's other series but it was not doing it for me, I'm not sure why :( - so if you happen to have any other NA fantasy romance recs please post them! thank you!
Sure! I know how hard it is o recover from a Sarah J Mass book high! I would recommend:The Winner’s Curse trilogy by Marie RutkoskiThe bargainer’s Series by Laura ThassaThe Daughter of The Pirate King by Tricia LevensellerThe Traitor’s Kiss by Erin Beaty Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn HamiltonThese are all books I’ve really enjoyed! I can’t say that they are what you’re looking for individually, but all together they might fill your ACOTAR void!
WHAT THE FUCK I NEED THE BOOK NOW
@tacmc EXCUSE ME
@throne-of-ashes-and-beauty yeah it’s a no for me on this one
We all know this is said after Feyre pairs up Nesta and Cassian. I firmly believe that Nesta and Cassian have disappeared because they are mating. I WILL BELIEVE NO DIFFERENT
I understand where everyone is coming from about the movie but like all the hate going around is so terrible and some book to movies don’t come out super terrible. Plus some books to tv shows come out terrible so it could be trash either way. But besides that like sjm is probably excited and all the hate is so like sad and like why? Obviously nothing will match your head but seeing it played out is cool and then more might be encouraged to read it and love it. Rant over
I feel you. Sometimes people like complaining, and it can be frustrating… there’s not even anything to be negative about! We have no idea who would be cast or who is writing the screenplay or directing or ANYTHING. It’s going to be so long until the movie comes out, and we can at least give it a chance before freaking out and assuming it’s going to suck.
It’s funny though, because we intentionally seek out non-canon material all the time (IE fanfic) and love that, and yet somehow this project that sjm will at least be somewhat involved in, that’s being made by professionals, we somehow just assume won’t be worth anything?
Either way, it’s pretty cool that these books are well-liked enough that they are even getting this chance! And if it comes out and we all do hate it, then we can just crawl back to the books and pretend the movie(s) don’t exist. :)
Sidenote - it’s hilarious that people are freaking out about no one being good enough to play Rhys. Like that’s my whole problem with how the fandom views his character, like he’s some kind of god of perfection and feminism personified. Nah, he’s got flaws and stuff too. So we’ll be just fine with whoever is cast, fam.
On the last point, re: Rhys, I mostly think he’d be difficult to cast because he is a character who has to be both in control/not in control all the time. I.e., he is high lord of the night court but he’s also a trauma survivor who so clearly barely has a handle on himself at times (for good reason). So you need a really good actor to portray that. it’s not that rhys is perfect, it’s just that I don’t want them to cast someone who can’t act well to play someone so complex. And the same for Feyre as well.
And most of my wariness over the film is that I kind of think movies are incapable of showing the type of character growth that makes acotar a great story. Like all of acomaf is essentially spent inside of Feyre’s head and with her depressed thoughts/slowly healing PTSD. it’s wonderful as a book, I just worry that it wouldn’t ever work on screen.
I’m excited ACOTAR is being option for a movie. I’ve always thought it could be turned into one easily. But, I’m worried about how they will fit the cast to how we all view the characters. It has taken a lot of the fandom a long time to get behind the idea that Azriel, Cassian, and Rhys are all POC’s/not basic white people. I could see there being an issue if the director casts them with white actors, and then casts Amren as white too. I am most worried about that because a lot of us in this fandom have had issues with Sarah’s books not having enough representation, and she worked to add in more diverse characters, and it would be frustrating for us all if the cast does not reflect what the fandom has grown to see. I think it will be difficult for the actors to show the vulnerability the books give the characters, but I think it will be more likely that we will be frustrated in how the actors look, than how they are played.
Friends!
A couple weeks ago I hit 3k and I thought I would do a follow forever to show my appreciation. I was going to differentiate between mutuals, favorites etc. but… I am mutuals with everyone on this list! Then I was going to bold the people who have been around for a while (IE a year or more) but ummm… that’s a lot of you too.
I follow around 200 accounts and while I’d like to recognize all of them, that would be a lot, some of them I don’t know personally, and… I just wanted to recognize people I really enjoy seeing on my dash, chatting with, and who have stuck around through my bullshirt.
So without further ado:
And some people who deserve mention just because they are amazing readers who make all the time I spend writing worth it, and maybe you don’t comment a lot, or at all, but I see you *boops your nose* (yes, there are duplicates on this list):
Even if you interact with my blog a lot and I didn’t mention you here, I do notice - I so keep track of people who regularly like and reblog, even if you don’t comment, and I appreciate it! I’m always amazed at how many people follow me for one reason (e.g. acotar) and then have other things in common with me (e.g. teaching! how many of you are teachers???), so that’s pretty neat.
Final shoutout to my main bro @my-name-is-fireheart Lucia for being the best fandom friend a girl could ask for. I’ve enjoyed being petty af and meta-ing with you these last 15-ish months or whatever it’s been.
Thanks everyone for following me and sticking through my miscellaneous obsessions that seem to change weekly!
@bookofmirth is the literal best. She doesn't just say she cares, she does. Thank you for always being amazing!
