The confession

The day had been boring so far for Greece. With his head on the table, he watched the other nations fight about something new again, England and France where especially loud, and at this point he doubted he would get to nap at this meeting. This meeting was like so many others before. Fighting between all of them, Germany trying his best to be the only one who tried to get something done and order into this chaos, America watching France and England yell at each other and join in just for fun, and Japan… Just sitting there in the middle of all the yelling and senseless discussions, completely calm, and working through all the papers there where as if nothing was going on. He always was so calm, composed. His deep, brown eyes concentrated on his work, for a few moments on the others from time to time, to see if he should maybe interfere, then deciding not to, and turning back to work, his dark hair covering his eyes from Greece’s sight. Just slowly he realized he had been staring at the other again, just like so many other days before. He sighed softly and turned to the papers on the table before himself, nothing too interesting, nothing important. It didn’t took long for his mind to wander off again, to deep, calm eyes and coal black hair. A soft voice that never got angry, a just as soft smile whenever he talked about themes he liked, like cats… Cats where great. Just like him. With a light smile his mind wandered off beside all the yelling around him, and he barely noticed when the other began to stood up one after another. He looked up, his eyes tiredly half lidded, and slowly remembered. Right, normally he would nap now, usual lunch pause. Lunch. He remembered that and looked up, searching for his friend again. Still talking to Germany apparently, just slowly making his way to the entrance. He stood up, quickly getting his bag he brought today, and walked over to the two. Japan was quick to notice him, excuse himself, and walked over to the other. “Hey Greece, how…” He could barely finish his sentence as he quickly needed to catch an apple, thrown at him by a lightly blushing Greece. “…Good day to you too…?” “…For lunch”, the greek man was quick to excuse and nodded to the entrance, “Wanna eat something together? I would like to talk.” Greece was now glad that his voice always sounded rather calm and slow, no nervousness was able to found as he talked. “Sure, if you wish to.” “Good.” Short words, everything clear, no long words, no questions needed. Greece smiled lightly and walked besides Japan to the cafeteria and after a while just sitting in a corner beside each other.

“What is it Greece?” Japan slightly tilted his head, the soft hair framing his face flowing with the motion, as the other dreamily noticed. “You said a few days ago you wanted to learn more about my country…” “Yes indeed. Why?” He searched in the bag he had brought with him for a short moment, then pulled out a book, holding it out to the other. “I think you would like to read it. Next meeting we could talk about it…” The other carefully took the book and gave a light smile in return. “Thank you Greece.” He shrugged, smiling back. “No problem.”

After two more hours, the meeting was over already. Japan had worked through everything he could, and when he arrived home he was happy when he thought about a free afternoon. He made his way to the couch, comfortably sitting in the cushions as Pochi was fast to jump on his lap as well. Smiling at the small dog, Japan made himself comfortable, pulled the book out… And slightly raised his brow as the saw a note sticking out of one of the sides. “Huh? What’s that…?” He flipped through the pages, briefly looking over some of the chapters, until he got to the marked side. The note and a small letter from the book on Japans lap and on Pochi, who quickly shook the paper off and the ground. His owner chuckled lightly as he picked the note up again, intending to first look at it. “Read this page… But I would have read it anyways!” He asked himself a bit confused, was something special about that side? He took up the book again, reading through a side with some random facts about ancient Greece. “Homosexual relationships where seen as superior, relationships where allowed and encouraged in the army, if you wanted to show someone you like them you would throw them an apple…” He paused himself, reading the last sentence again. First it was a slight suspicion, then he slowly remembered the moment with Greece just a few hours ago, and after a few moments he blushed lightly. No… That must have been a coincidence, wasn’t it? He said it was simply for lunch, not… Though his behaviour had been a bit off about it… His blush got just a bit brighter. But what if… Thought usually he was so straightforward, wouldn’t he have just said it…? With a short bark from Pochi he was pulled out of his thoughts and looked down to the small dog, holding the letter, which had fallen from the pages as well, in its mouth. “Oh, it was in the sides as well, right? Thanks Pochi.” He petted the dog and carefully took the letter. “For Kiku… He used my human name…?” He shook his head. “I’m sure it will clear things up, don’t worry too much”, he just thought to himself and was quick to open the letter. “Dearest Kiku…” Hoping to get an answer he read the letter… slowing down with every following word, his blush getting brighter with every sentence, his heart beating faster with every moment. He carefully held the small piece of paper, looking at it rather shocked. Well, his hopes hadn’t been for nothing. “This explains a lot…”

The time to the next weeks meeting went by just too soon, and Greece wasn’t sure on why he had appeared. Japan hadn’t called him all week, and a fear had struck itself in the philosophers heart. Very untypical for him, he had arrived early. A whole hour before start even, and Germany had asked him already if he was sick. “In a sense…” He just anxiously waited for the arrival of one person alone, sitting straight, tapping his foot on the ground and his glare fixed on the door, a disappointed sigh following with everyone else then his desired person walking in. More then one of the others had now noticed his weird behaviour, a few eyes resting on him worried, though he didn’t care what they thought. He just waited to hear the thoughts of one person alone. So it was understandable that, when Japan finally walked into the room, he stood up immediately, nearly looking panicked at the other as he made his way to him. “Greece, I think we need to discuss something later.” His tone, his formal speech, his straight figure… Greeces shoulders slumped down, closing his eyes and sinking back into his seat… When he felt a sudden thumb against his head and something rolling down on him. He quickly opened his eyes again, just to see a light smirk on the others face and while Greece just looked down, just a moment later softly smiling at the sight of a red apple in his lap, Japan couldn’t stop the smile on his face either, a short letter sticking out of his pocket.

“Dear Kiku, If someone had asked me if I believed in love on first sight, I wouldn’t have been able to answer. Yes, I am a philosopher and of course I believe as something as beautiful as that, but as a nation… No matter if it wouldn’t have been a human or country, it would have been a sin, impossible from the start. Its not an option for us, and I believed that as well. That is… Until I saw you. A body so small and fragile, skin as white and clear as the light of the stars and hair, so thin, soft and dark as a moonless night. Your expression being the opposite though, sure and strong. Your whole body screaming “Protect me!”, while you just said “Leave everything to me”. I saw from the first moment that we were alike, longing to say more then we did, but unsure on how others would think, if they where to understand. I fell for you the first moment I saw into your strong and beautiful eyes. I knew it was a mistake, I knew it well. Relationships between nations can change so easily… One moment friends, the next enemies, and later allied again, though now bruised and broken by former hatred. I know how great my sin was… I want you to know though, that no matter what happens between out nations, no matter how worse it gets… I, not as a nation but as a person, will always care for you. I will always love you.

In deepest admiration, your Heracles.”

Hi Nikki! I wanted to ask you: Where have Germans immigrated? I mean, there must have been an immigration era for Germany, right? ~Sia

Thank you for the question, and I am sorry I just got around to answer it! Without any further ado, lets just get straight to the answer! Despite Germany being the second most popular country for immigration in the world, roughly 3,4 million Germans have settled in other countries! Around 1,1 million Germans live in the US, often for jobs and similar, and around 270,000 live in Britian and Switzerland. France, Italy and Spain are really popular too, and the Netherlands have become popular in recent years as well! We are also one of the “fastest” ones to move to other nations. Many of us who move abroad are students or just have left school a few years earlier. Around 140,000 of us living in other countries stimply study there! Most popular “study destinations” are the Netherlands, Austria, Britian and Switzerland. Around 30 Percent of all students tend to study engineering, medicine, maths or science. The MOTIVES for moving out of Germany are in most cases in favour of a career though. Work is just as important when it comes to return back to our homecountry though, and family tends to play a factorin that as well. Its not often recognized how many Germans actually return home later on as well. Still, after a few surveys where taken, around 15 percent of the German population would consider moving out of the country, and the Numbers go up to a third when unemployed people where asked. The fewest go actually through with it though, and as seen, its likely that they may return later on. “Zuhause ist es doch immer am schönsten” - “Its still the best at home.”

Here’s a spy AU animation thing i made in my spare time. It’s really short but I think if I cleaned it up a bit, it would make a cool opening for something lol.

Welcome to FrUK Week!

Admin:  [x]
Sidebar transparent by aph–china

The time for FrUK Week is upon us. It will be from 9 July to 15 July, 2017!

Here are the prompts:

9 July / Day 1: Royalty-Cardverse/Lavender             10 July / Day 2: Pirate AU/Gold 11 July / Day 3: Mermaid-Siren AU/Emerald-Green 12 July / Day 4: Spy AU/Gray 13 July / Day 5: “It’s really hard to say ‘I love you’.”/Peach 14 July / Day 6: FACE Family/Teal 15 July / Day 7: NSFW/Scarlet

Each day has an assigned prompt, but if anyone can’t fulfill a prompt for that day, they are free to still do something for it on the following days. Don’t feel pressured to have everything on time. The prompts are there as motivators. If anyone misses day 4, they can post that entry on day 5 and it will be okay! If someone misses the whole week and wants to post all their entries in one day, go for it. Just make sure to keep with the dates!

In addition, there will be colors assigned to each day, so you all will have 2 options for each day. If you don’t feel the prompt of “Pirate AU”, for example, but you do feel the prompt of “Gold”, then you can have the choice to pick which one you want.

Here are the guidelines:

  • Please be respectful to everyone! That includes people that do and don’t participate. This is to enjoy the pretty work people have done. Please don’t bash it.
  • I feel like this is a very important rule: Please do not have France and England hit each other! Violence is not romantic.
  • We have a lot of AUs as prompts, woohoo!! Given that fact, I suggest using that AU that is assigned to their day, however, if you do not feel comfortable with the assigned au, you are more than welcome to use an AU you do like.  I do encourage you all to use the prompts assigned, though. This is to have fun so if you’re not comfortable with canon settings, and prefer AUs, go right ahead and use an AU to your liking.
  • That isn’t to say canon settings aren’t welcome. Historical stuff is great! Wanna do WWII setting? Go for it! Wanna do 100 Years War? Very okay. Entente Cordiale? A-okay.
  • Any rating is permitted, ranging from PG to R/NC-17/MA. I’ve used the fanfiction.net rating system for years, so I know that better: K to M. Whatever works for you:
  1. K/K+ - very benign and no mature themes are featured.
  2. T - Language/swearing is featured and some make out stuff. In ff.net, it was called a lime, if anyone is familiar with that.
  3. M - Mature conent is featured, such as smut/lemons.
  • If writing fanfiction:
  1. Writing can be in any language the author feels comfortable writing. Although there are people that can write in English, others that do not wish to, or don’t feel comfortable, or simply don’t want to or can’t, have the opportunity and liberty to write in their language.
  2. There is no word limit as long as the fic is longer than 100 words at least.
  3. Authors can write drabbles/ficlets, one-shots, poems, and if anyone wants to do a chapter story, I’m all for it as long as the author can handle it. Just don’t stress yourselves.
  4. Please place stories under a READ MORE, if they’re longer than 100 words.
  • If drawing fanart, please write somewhere in the caption that the work belongs to you. If you watermark it, that is also good!

I don’t really have any rules for this other than do your thing and try your best. Wanna color it? Make it colorful. Wanna keep it black and white? Hey, man, aesthetic. If it is NSFW, it is up to you if you want to put it under a read more.

  • You are free to interpret the prompts however you like.

For example, if a person chooses the prompt ‘Married Couple’, they can write/draw/edit anything they want with that theme as long as it is there. Like, it could be that France and England always act like a married couple, they argue like a married couple, things like that. Living together like a married couple? Totally. Get creative, you guys can do it!

  • Whether you use our regular gay babies, nyotalia, 2p!talia, transtalia, nekotalia, other kinds of talias, so long as it’s FrUK, it is accepted!
  • Did you know you can also do edits? Yes, you can! Edits are great! If using canon artwork, state it is drawn by Hima-papa. If using outside images, please source accordingly. Sources that are not acceptable are:Zerochan, WeHeartIt, Photobucket, FanPop, and other sites like those. Provide a link to the original work if edited. If possible, ask the artists for permission.
  • I feel like this is necessary to note: Do not bash other ships. Please keep FrUK as the main focus of the prompt!

Tags

  • Use the tag #frukweek2017 so it can be easy to find.
  • Tag works accordingly, such as FrUK, nsfw, nyotalia, transtalia, etc.
  • Tag any triggers!!! Like guns, blood, and other stuff that can trigger people. If anyone has any triggers, let me know so I can add it to the list on here and so people can watch out for that while tagging.
  • Please tag with the day and prompt being used

For example, if using Day 2′s prompt, tag as #Day 2: pirate au gold, or #Day 2.

Works can also be submitted through this blog as well. If anyone has any questions, or need clarification, feel free to ask! Have fun and enjoy FrUK Week!

boarding school AU!!!!

its 1947, and Gilbert (Ludwig’s older brother by 15 years), wanting Ludwig to have the best education, sent him to a boarding school in America. But anti-German sentiments were still very strong in the US, and Ludwig being shy and introverted, easily made himself an outcast at the school. Feliciano (American-Italian descent), was used to the remarks they would whisper about him, and continued being himself; a lively, energetic and outgoing young boy. So when he happens to see Ludwig sitting by himself at recess, he couldn’t help but try and make friends with him (even if he did seem a tad bit scary).

lol hope that wasn’t too long ill probably post random doodles here and there about this AU!!

Hello! We have been paired for the Ask event! My question is: Is there any stereotype about your country that is actually true? Sorry for being late and have a nice day!

Avatar

That is, I will adit, actually a pretty difficult question! I will do my best though to answer it as well as I can! Stereotype Number 1: Germans love beer

Now, I cant talk for everyone here, but I can say that beer is our Go to alcohol at any sort of event! If there is a big festival somewhere, there will also be beer. Not only that, but we do take it serious. Maybe you have heard of a Purity-law for beer before? It was legally active since the year 1918, actually known though since 1516! Since 1995, we even have the “Day of german beer” on the 23. of April. The Purity-law isnt as strict anymore since 2005, but even despite that, if someone wants to make beer from something else then Water, malt, hops or yeast, most companies STILL ask for special allowance. We do take our beer serious, so I would say yes, that stereotype does fit! I cant say much about stereotypes like “Germans are hardworking, punctual etcetera” and so on, since that heavily depens fromperson to person and would also probably depend on the countries around ous, how work-happy we are in comparison to others! But I can definetly look at the above described Stereotype and say “Yes, that is definetly truth”. Thanks a lot for the question!

If you put "free" into Google Translate to German, one of the translated options is "gratis." But that's Spanish for free! :O Do Germans really use "gratis", at least sometimes since it's the third option down, or is Google lying to me?

Appareantly, we have something in common with spanish then! Yes, google translate is correct for once. “Gratis” is often used in shops as an example, if there is a catalog or small stickers for free! If there are things for free, these things are “Gratis”! Also, dear Anon: Thanks for teaching me a bit of spanish!

Hello! To start off your Ambassador work, can you tell us about common superstitions in your country? Thank you! (If you would like a different question, let me know)!

Avatar

Common german superstitionsit is then! Or, to use the german name, “Aberglaube”, literally translated “But-Belief”! But first, let us talk about the Origin of the word “Superstition” in general! The word “Superstition” comes from the latin word “Superstitio”, what meant “Overbelief”. The Romans used the word to describe the fall from the “true beliefs” and this word was later used to describe non-christian religions, giving them a demonic touch! So much to that! To be quite honest, there doesnt seem to be too many things that bring bad luck like in other cultures. Many things, like black cats or breaking a mirror, seem to be internationally accepted to bring misfortune! None the less, I was able to find a few that where more specific to Germany! So with this, I shall list what you definetly SHOULDNT do if you dont want to have misfortune: 1.) Never congratulate someone to their birthday if it isnt yet their birthday! It brings bad luck, and if the birthday is a complete failure it may be your fault! Dont bring bad luck over your german friend like that! 2.) What seems to be quite international as well, but still worthy to note.If you dont want bad luck, you are not allowed to spill salt! Salt was very expensive and rare in the past, not to mention it was always seen as pure and used to ward off evil. If you would spill, and with that waste it, it would bring bad luck! Good luck, on the other hand, would be to get salt and bread as a present when moving in a new house! Its said to bring good luck and would ward off hunger in the house in the future! 3.) Also international, but still worthy to note down. Black cats from left to right bring bad luck since the middle ages! Both the colour black and everything “left” was interpreted to bring bad luck! Small Hetalia related fact, Prussia was probably seen as a demon at that time! Left handed, which was seen as a bad omen, would have probably been interpreted that he was in contact with the devil. 4.) Friday the 13th. Now, this is also international, though if you didnt knew the origins of that myth, please let me tell. One of the many guesses on why Friday the 13th is seen as a bad luck bringing day, is that its argued that The Order of the Knights Templar is said to have been completly annihilated that day. As the myth goes The Order was betrayed and all of its Knights had been imprisoned, just to be all burned alive or horribly murdered. That is one of the argued reasons for why exactly Friday the 13th is seen to bring bad luck. 5.) To bring in a bit less serious matter again, to a less serious superstition! If you dont look the other in the eye when clinging glasses in Germany, its said you would then have bad lovers for seven years! Nobody knows the origins, and lets be honest, I dont think anyone really needs to know. 6.) The last one for the bad luck bringing superstitions! This one more serious again. You are not supposed to light cigarettes with candles! Its said that if you do, you would be at fault for killing a sailor! The Origin of that superstition is that, when Sailors would be on land and couldnt get new fishes to sell, they instead made matches in their free time! So if you would light your cigarettes with your candles instead of matches, you would be responsible for the hunger death of a sailor! With that, I hope I could be of help! I am happy to get every ask in the future and shall do my best to answer all of them properly!
