It’s 3.45am. Rain pours outside. Kazutora wakes up in cold sweat to thunder and lightning outside the window.
Heavy breathing, groggy vision. He turns to look outside, the pitter-patter of the rain against the floor-to-ceiling windows oddly comforting to him. The rain is outside, it won’t touch him. Won’t be capable of hurting him. There’s no building obstructing the view outside the window, so all he can see is the navy blue canvas of the midnight sky.
He’s trembling slightly, and not because of the cold. It’s eerily silent; what was he dreaming about that made him jerk awake? Can’t even remember. Whatever it was, it was bad enough he hated it so much that he’d rather be awake. Can’t recall when was the last time he wanted to be awake.
Kazutora’s made a lot of shitty decisions he knows he shouldn’t be forgiven for. Yet here he is, blessed by the people he knows.
