this is gonna be very shitposty but every once in a while i just gush over the creativity and amazing writing that is farah's character, specifically in context of her being a black woman. like her character archetype only makes sense if she's played by Jade Eshete.

Her whole life she's been brought up by a strong black military family, so she's always been expected by not just her family, but by American society as well to be the "strong, independent, badass" character. and she expects this of herself too, most of her panic attacks/breakdowns are based on her feeling like she's not being strong enough (im specifically thinking of s1, that scene with amanda). but thats the thing, Farah is incredibly strong, shes incredibly brave, and she literally is called a badass by almost every major character because she really is what holds the entire cast together.

but despite this, her character still rebels from that archetype so well, because shes not strong and brave all the time, there are many moments in the show where we see such a vulnerable side of her. and these deviations arent just a cold emotionless moments, they're messy! she's a hot mess! but thats a good thing!

The overall message of the show is one that I am already in love with, but another message the show represents in specifics to farah is that there are sooooo many ways to be strong. you're never going to prove yourself to others if they only have one way of defining their expectations of you. its because of her vulnerabilities that she is one of the strongest female protagonists ive ever seen.

Sorry for my english

Collab with amazing  RafeForest. Sketch/line by me. Color by Rafe

Dirk Gently blogger AU.

Where Dirk’s chanel on YouTube is an inexplicably popular dump from reactions, lifehacks (dumb and not very), non-political news reports, travel blogs and sudden throw-in about fashion.

Amanda leads a severe beauty blog, flavored with headings about how to make a cool make-up and summaries from the world of music.

Rowdy 3 - brutal travel blogs, where you learn about the steepest and worst places, about how to live in a van not intended for it, how to visit abandoned and enclosed places and not die, as well as epic summaries from the world and history of music.

Farah - any game in the most hardcore modes, as well as the answers to the questions “what is the difference between the physics of weapons in games from the real world” and “what you need to do so that you can not fuse with the chair”

Todd is an unsociable, closed-loop Amanda’s operator and video-builder. Сarrier “sleeves” and a master of tattoos. For all the time he managed to never light his face on blogs, shot unexpected collages of Amanda and Farah, filled the first tattoos of Rowdy 3 and completely not familiar with Dirk Gently.

Fate brings all this companion to one of the world’s most epic festivals - Burning man, where they went to shoot a mast-shell collab. And Todd will be forced to face a man who does not seem to have heard of the personal space that he wants to touch and “Well, smile at the camera, Todd.” And who will be truly upset when Brotzman tells him to fall off. Sad Gently - a sight unbearable, What will force Amanda (who is unbearably listening to Dirk’s suffering about “Todd hates me” and explain to him that Todd hates everything in this world at all) and to try to change the situation. True, who knew that a joint campaign somewhere, from which at the last moment, “merge” Rowdy 3, Farah and Amanda, will launch a chain of events that will lead to … a very unexpected result.

Anonymous asked:

Do you think the Dirk Gently tv show was any good compared to the book?

i havent watched the bbc4 show but the bbc america one was incredible. it has very little in ocmmon with the book apart from a barebones similar premise--its dirk is nearly unrecognizable if you've read the books--but it perfectly captures what ot me was the real magic of dirk gently, which is the way that a dozen totally disparate plot threads suddenly come together in a ludicrous heightened parody of the detective genre's improbable deductions
