The cloak lay like a corpse over his body. Lifeless, in perpetual torture of hiding the body warped and remade by the powers of dark-ancient entities he had dared consort with.
A clambering, wretched husk of hubris and longing, dragging, wreathing. A body no longer welcome to the warm, blossoming comforts of land. Constantly searching, reaching in the deepest, darkest, most forbidden places of the world for the one thing that he hoped, would sate this abyss that lay inside.
This cruel and mangled visage of a noble sorcerer long gone. The scars on one’s hands from a life long forgotten by the creature who wore them.

I did another post on this topic last year, but I thought it could use an update with some more books! And yes, the last post had people repeatedly adding on queer books by white people, so I’m a bit salty about it.

Other queer SFF PowerPoints:

I’m not transcribing all the text, but you can find the titles, authors, information on TW, etc beneath the cut.

When possible, I’m linking to my database of queer books. The page for each book includes the synopsis, content warnings under spoiler tags, and links to reviews from queer readers. If it’s not in the queer database at the time of posting (8/24/19), I’ll link to Goodreads instead.

Hang onto your hats, color lovers, b/c artist Jane Gottlieb’s house is a color lover’s dream!

Coming in from the pool, the house greets you with yellow, shocking pink, and orange.

Check out the purple living room with a green fireplace.

Purple & turquoise dining room.

In the art studio, every wall is a different color.

Just wow. Look at this family room.

Even the stairs are incredible.

Not only is the room spectacular, but so is the ceiling.

The most subdued, tranquil room in the home is the bathroom. What a fantastic house.

God it’s like Barbies garish dream home, I love it.

What if someone got bitten by a vampire, but didn’t realize it. So then they go around and keep misidentifying all the symptoms, like

“Dude, you haven’t gone outside in a while.” “Yeah, last time I went out I got this wicked sunburn.”

“Are you still up?” “Yeah, I started bing watching this show on Netflix.”

“Dude, I’m seriously craving something right now.” “Like what?” “I dunno. Pizza rolls?”

“Why is it that you never come into my house unless I invite you?” “Um, it’s called ‘being polite’…?”

“I tried cooking with garlic the other night and got this serious burn on my hand. I think I’m allergic, but all I’m getting on Google is vampire bullshit.”

“Dude can a mirror like… stop working or something?”

“Dude, why do you keep posting pictures of the floor?” “…Those are meant to be selfies, I guess my camera must be broken.”

“Dude, I am all for you expressing your religious beliefs, but could you not wear your crucifix when I’m around? It really bugs me for some reason.”

“Have you ever noticed how cute bats are? like really noticed? sweet lil balls of fluff with wings man.”

“I want to sleep in a coffin…ya kno, for like… aesthetic”

“What’s with your thing about necks lately?”

“MUST YOU KINKSHAME ME IN MY OWN HOME”

“I looked up my symptoms on WebMD, and it says I have cancer.”

This last addition made the reblog obligatory. This one wins.

It’s almost as if schools push and ideology that benefits schools.

Bruh, trades are in high fucking demand right now too. Between now and 2020 there are suppose to be 300,000 more jobs and that’s just for welder.

Shit, they’ll pay for you to learn how to do it.

I just finished high school and got a untility job in a factory and I have almost no experience. They’re gonna train me for everything plus it has full health benefits.

Trades are fucking great.

My husband is a welder, and is very very good at it. He got hired by a locksmith company pretty much just by walking in and going “Yes I can weld.”

All of the other guys there were great at locksmithing, but none of them were trained welders, and they needed someone who could build custom doors and frames.

They trained him to do lock stuff too, so now he can weld AND pick locks.

The owner of the company, when he handed out Christmas bonuses, looked at him and went “Dude we literally cannot fire you because we’d be screwed so here’s your bonus and also we’re giving you a raise.”

Welders are in desperate demand.

Blows kisses to this post. Anyway, learn a trade, unionize, wear your PPE, memorize OSHA’s phone number.

My husband went to a fast track auto school and made almost 80k at his last job. Benefits are shit if you’re in a trade with no union but the money can be really good

In the US the average Age of an electrician is something like 47. What that means is as the older workers retire, demand goes up as young people arent jumping into trades. Which means you can pretty much choose your rate in the future.

Its hard work, usually dangerous work (but mostly if you arent paying attention) but BOY DOES IT PAY.

Also, learn Spanish. It helps so much in trade jobs.

as someone went from wearing makeup everyday two years ago to someone who never wears makeup now, two things have happened:

1. I actually sincerely, genuinely prefer the way I look without makeup more than with it. Nowadays I don’t think a lot of people realize that the more often you wear makeup, the more foreign your face will look to you without it, and vice versa. I’ve gotten to a point where my bare face feels the most me.

2. When I do wear makeup, it’s actually fun! Because I’ve decided to give up on concealer and foundation and contouring, it really becomes more about the artistic expression. It’s fun to wear bright orange blush, glittery highlighter, and pastel eyeshadow. Makeup should be no different than a kitschy accessory, or a fun outfit.

I actually highly recommend any of you do the same, especially if you’re someone who does wear makeup everyday (and if that’s the case, I challenge you).

Start by going a couple days, not during the weekend or a time you know you’ll be home, without any makeup at all. Go for a week. Then two weeks. Then a month. Go to work, go to school, go to the store, go out to dinner, hang out with your friends.

And here’s the most important part: whenever you see your reflection, smile.

Doing this not only helped me feel like makeup was not necessary to feel presentable (something that I thought I already believed but internalized more of a dependence than I’d thought) but also helped me to have a positive association with my own face! I hope this can help motivate people that want to be less dependent on makeup and more comfortable in their own skin!

*terfs don’t interact!!*

oh can I also just say???

I am 21 now, and I started wearing makeup regularly when I was around 13-14. I’m going to guess most of the women that wear makeup daily could say the same.

So when you think about it, the majority of makeup-wearing women have not seen their true, unfiltered, makeup-free Adult Faces.

Like yeah, you see what you look like when you take your makeup off at night. But unless you go at least a month without it, you haven’t really seen your face. You haven’t seen your face without yesterday’s eyeliner still sort of smudged. You haven’t seen how clear your skin could potentially be. You haven’t seen all your freckles on your cheeks when you smile. You haven’t seen how alive you look when your cheeks and nose get flushed. You haven’t seen all the beautiful colors the hyper pigmentation add to your face. I am an adult, and I’m just now finding out what I look like.

This is not about Kpop but I have strong feelings about this so here goes:

Stop 👏 telling 👏 people 👏 what 👏 to 👏 do 👏 with 👏 their 👏 bodies 👏

I don’t care if you think makeup is a gender norm societal hierarchy patriarchy thing. To me, it is my way of expressing my creativity. I do happen to like how I look with makeup on, but I don’t wear makeup to impress anybody else. I do it because I like it. I just like makeup! I like skincare and fashion and nail polish! I like beauty products! Not because they make me look better but because they make me — me, personally — feel like I’m taking care of myself.

Please do not tell me to stop doing that.

Thanks.

hi I know you have good intentions but you honestly could not have missed the point of this post more.

Firstly, I was never trying to shame anyone or make people feel bad for liking makeup. I was also not telling people to never wear makeup again.

This post is about my personal experiences with makeup. Ironically, even when I wore a lot of makeup I would say some of the exact same things as you, “it’s to express creativity!” “it’s like self care, I feel more put together” “I’m just doing it for myself and no one else”. I’ve always tried to be progressive! I thought I wasn’t dependent on it!

But I was. Because the point of this post is that wearing makeup more often than when you don’t will affect how you perceive yourself. No matter what reason. Even if it’s to cover up scars, acne, or redness. Even if it’s because you’re trans and it’s to help you pass. Even if it’s for a job. Even if it’s just for artistic expression. “Good” reasons to wear makeup will still affect your sense of self no matter what, just as much as “bad” reasons. Your brain does not care.

All I’m trying to encourage people to do is keep that in mind.

**and once again, terfs do NOT interact jfc I can’t believe I need to say this multiple times**
