Can people use your lore in their yautja fanfics/stories? I ask because I love your lore and want to incorporate some of it into my stories, but I don’t want you to think I’m stealing anything from you.

Of course! Thank you for asking, and I hope you have fun with your writings!

The Kokol - or the Bid'ha "water boars"

These 1,400 lbs beasties are around 6ft at the shoulder and 8ft in length, and can be found up and down the main valley waterways - from lakes to rivers. They mostly scavenge at the bottom, using their sharp claws and powerful limbs to crush and push aside boulders for whatever critter is hiding under, but do actively hunt both in and out of water. So just because you managed to evade the first water ambush and made it to land doesn't mean the Kokol has given up the chase. And, since they live in medium sized family groups, it's often not just one of these on your tail.

They can be hunted and eaten, in turn, but their meat is tough and unpleasant in palate. Better than nothing, however.

Bid'ha Leader Sriith

Hailing from the Northern Rivers of the Datlokh valley, Sriith is the youngest of the 3 Datlokh Clan Leaders.

Recently ascended after the death of the previous Bid'ha leader, Sriith gained his position thru a ritual feat of prowess where he outclassed other yautja, even more experienced ones. Prior to his ascension, he earned some respect as a successful Big Game Hunter (much like Ahisde, who he looks up to, though nowhere near as celebrated as Ahisde is), specializing in using beasts to aid in hunting. This includes not only the use of companion animals, but having a deep enough understanding of animal behaviors to exploit and manipulate them in the field. This has taught him patience, observation, strategy, and a certain level of "diplomacy" and teamwork. A useful arsenal for a Datlokh leader, in addition to decent physical ability.

As a leader he's "tough but fair," though his youth and an unspoken desire to prove himself sometimes leans him more towards "tough." Not too unreasonably though. Even if he seems more approachable than the other 2 leaders, he will not give away things for free.

Still has that very Bid'ha type of "vanity."

(The second designed Datlokh leader, after @isei-bleeds did Kirileg, the Ki'dto leader. Super sketchy, but you get the gist!)

I hope no one takes personally the post/PSA about the clan (Dakh, Bid'ha, Ki'dto, Koroth'ul) worldbuilding/characters being closed. Like Isei said, we're still constantly figuring stuff out about them and writing, and it gets a little awkward when someone tries to add on when they don't know the full picture. None of it is really open RP and it's probably gonna be that way for the foreseeable future.

Really appreciate and am flattered by the interest and kindness people have shown towards our art and ideas, though. And like she said, you are free to ask questions or approach us about them! Asking first is always just a nice courtesy. I love sharing stuff with you all and letting you see the stories and ideas we come up with, and it's so fun seeing your thoughts and reactions in any case.

It is true that Isei and I are more comfortable making things together bc we have known each other for a while, online and irl, and kind of understand how we click and what our style and intentions are. I'm otherwise a pretty solo writer/creator, so if I'm making stuff with someone, it will largely be her. That doesn't mean it's gonna be like that with *everything*, but in very large part, yes, especially with the yautja.

Hope people understand and don't think we're trying to be mean or snobby! I'm just a very awkward bean playing in the corner of the sandbox with my friend. Let's all just keep having fun!

Do you do other art or character stuff with any other person besides CG or is it just them and no one else?

This sounds a bit accusatory, though I'm not going to proceed thinking about this question that way.

For now, yes. I'm only comfortable doing worldbuilding with @crispy-ghee, as we've known each other, even IRL, for years. That doesn't mean I won't ever do, say fan-art, or accept fan concepts and ideas, or occasionally dabble with another artist, however. It just means that the bulk of my time, effort, and creative input will be with crispy. And we are happy to share with the rest of the fans and fandom!

You and Crispy do a lot of art and story stuff together. Do you or would you do other stuff like that with other artists or people in the predator fandom?

@crispy-ghee and I have known each other for years and have collaborated creatively just as long. We are often on the same vibe and brainwaves and can easily toss ideas back and forth that fit together in our worldbuilding.

That being said, we have noticed a trend of people tagging their own yautja OCs as certain tribes/clans of ours. While we absolutely are honored that people enjoy our worldbuilding enough to want to be a part of it, please respect that this particular sandbox is not open to the public.

Mostly, we are still in the works ourselves! We haven't gotten much down as cemented canon and ideas and concepts will change. Our clans/tribes also have very particular ethnocentric, cultural, and physical attributes and other dispositions that we want to retain unadulterated. At the very least, please reach out to us and ask permission to have an OC of yours be of a certain clan/tribe if you are interested. It's the courteous thing to do, and we will better be able to help you identify those particularities.

We appreciate everyone's understanding.

i looooooove the way you draw female yautjas <3

Its nice seeing female yautjas that aren't over-sexualized and more human than yautja

Avatar

I have nothing against yautja females that are more sexualized or human-like if that's what the artist wants to interpret, or is at the best of their abilities. Drawing yautja is hard! I get it. I fell down that rabbit hole when I was younger.

Over time I just ended up preferring female yautja that displayed little to no sexual dimorphism from their male counterparts. It was Big Mama from 'Deadliest of the Species' that helped start me on that path.

Can you make a condensed on all your yautja lore pls? Or a series of posts?

I'm going to be honest. I'm lazy. I don't want to go through years+ of stuff to condense them even for my own sake. The tags are there, they are your best resource.

I might change this in the future once things start to get more consistent, but for right now everything is still an open concept I don't want to lore-lock myself into canons that can be retconned in the future. Hope that makes sense!

Hey do you have any ref for your OCs? I kinda want to make fanart of them, but I really don't want to mess up their designs

I don't have official refs, but if you look at the character tags you should have enough references to use! In all honesty, I don't care for the accuracy of the character - I barely keep track myself. Have fun messing them up like I do haha

River/Northern Bid'ha (another of @crispy-ghee's tribes!)

The Bid'ha are one of the largest tribes in the Datlokh. Their territory cuts through the entire valley, across the mountains, and into the coastal of the valley's end. Deeper into the valley, where the rivers and lakes pool, the Northern Bid'ha have developed more distinct, thicker set of scutes not unlike crocodilians, to help against the rocks when the rapid and tides of water bash against them. Their southern, more sea-faring cousins, have smoother skin, or their scutes are less defined.

All in all, both river and coastal Bid'ha are ethnocentrically the same. They are physically defined by smoother, downward cruve slants of their crests, long tresses (which they protect in elaborate knots/braids and even netting), and smaller tusks.

The Ki'dto swamps and Bid'ha river territories do overlap, which has been a point of tension for generations before the Unification. They may, occasionally, cross-breed.

One of Kirileg's last mates was a Bid'ha. He did not survive.

Do you accept fan/gift art of your ocs? As far as getting accuracy of any one of your characters or your main ones what are some characteristics and personality traits that you’d prefer. What about interactions? (Not shipping or romancy I promise) Masauro (I hope I spelled that right while typing this. Forgive me) is one I’m looking at for making fanart of and I just wanna be sure I’m capturing her right. Thank you for your time ❤️

Of course!

The main thing about Masurao is to treat her like a wild boar; and she very much shares the personality of one. Obstinate, bull-headed, very food motivated, and hates being wrong. At the same time, bold and curious, almost in a way that feels as though she's lacking self-preservation. To sate whatever she's interested in at the time is top priority.

As Koroth'Ul, mostly wary of other clans/yautja at best, and downright hostile at worst. Humans are a food source and she cares nothing for them.

Hope this helps!

Avatar

Do the Koroth’Ul partake in any music or crafting of any instruments? Would it be more of an individualistic hobby or something widespread the clan would pride over or just primarily focused on certain events?

Avatar

They do.

Though the Koroth'Ul are more war-faring than most, they do have down-time and lots of it. They have arts and craft, music, and a culinary culture. They're just not known for it.

Much like other tribes, some Koroth'Ul are more inclined to these than others. Not everyone is a warrior. It is expected, however, than even if you are, say, a musician or cook, that you pick up arms when needed to.

Exploration concept of Kirileg, leader of @crispy-ghee's Ki'dto tribe. They are swamp dwellers and specialize in ambushes and poisons.

  • The Ki'dto yautja's tresses are average in length, usually no longer past the shoulders. The length of Kirileg's tresses is as such because they are mostly not her own natural ones, but extensions added after taken from fallen enemies. The length of this collection means she is a formidable warrior and poison master!
  • The bright coloration of the Ki'dto are half natural, half enhanced by the poisons they concoct and ingest themselves. Much like flamingos' pink colors from eating a special kind of shrimp, the Ki'dto maintain their bright colorations as they continuously ingest their own poisons. The brighter the colors, the more deadly the poisons they carry.
  • Assume anything pointy or sharp on them is laced with poison. Same with any food or drink they offer.
  • The skulls on her headdress are not from enemies, but from past Leaders. Ancestors commune with the living and the living with their ancestors. Kirileg carries with her the wisdom of their past leaders and will 'speak' with them often.

So I’ve some concept ideas for yautja/Predator “beards/facial hair”, mostly inspired by koi and other sources

Old reblog for reference because I still like this concept from like 2020, and want to update it soon
