For those who see this or are even remotely think this is interesting in any way I had a random idea for an Dadpin AU that popped into my head late last night and as thanks to @roosterteethloverwritingblog for discussing things with me and helping me out with ideas I decided to write out my my thought process

Beast AU

(I may change that later if someone else has a better name to call them)

Basically the plot is not much different from canon. Except with one key thing. Instead of Faunus’, every human has an animal companion deeply bound to them emotionally and physically. Basically the concept of His Dark Materials/The Golden Compass but not really set in that universe.

The concept I have is that animal companions or Beast wouldn’t come about until after the Gods thanos snapped the world. And I’m the aftermath of that instead of the GoD leaving Faunus, he leaves animal companions instead.

Team RWBY:

  • Ruby: Red Panda Bear, named Rooi.
  • Weiss: White Peacock named Anais.
  • Blake: Black Panther named Aarav.
  • Yang: Grizzly Bear named Bali

Team JPNR:

  • Jaune: Gold Retriever named Etel.
  • Pyrrha: Eurasian Eagle Owl named Adira.
  • Nora: Honey Badger named Bayo.
  • Ren: Rough Green Snake named Aalin

Now we get into my favorite part of the reason I came up with this Au; the Ozma’s.

So originally I was just going to have Oscar be the only Oscar be the odd one out and have him not have a Beast, making him an outcast amongst his peers and then after Oz dies at the fall of Beacon BOOM, the kid suddenly gets one in the form of the old headmaster of beacon.

But my conversation with @roosterteethloverwritingblog lead me to really think about it and I decided to have that concept but add that it was just part of the curse that was bestowed on Ozma.

  • Each Oz reincarnation is instead of being placed into the mind of the next host. Is instead given a different connection entirely. One where the next Oz whomever it maybe, can still be themselves. No longer fearing a merge. Instead given a companion for life whom their connection only grows with each life time.
  • Each reincarnation it varies with each life time when they get their companion. Some got them right away. While others had to wait for the previous Oz’s soul to catch up and would sometimes be late.
  • When the GoL brings Ozma back he reincarnates into the form of a medium sized dragon and he is bounded to Omar (Ozma 2.0)
  • Then when Omar is killed he is reincarnated into a White Barn Owl and is bonded to Ozias (old dude)
  • Ozias (old dude) is reincarnated into a White Capuchin Monkey and is then bonded with Oren (Dude with Hat)
  • Oren (Dude with Hat) is reincarnated into a Brown Koala Bear and is bonded to Ostin (Dude with Glasses)
  • Ostin (Dude with Glasses) is reincarnated into a brown Kodiak Bear and is bonded to Orion (Dude with Blue eyes)
  • Orion (The Inquisitor) is reincarnated into a Brown Red Tailed Hawk and bonded to The Hermit (The Wizard)
  • The Hermit (The Wizard) is reincarnated into white Scottish Terrier and bonded with Ozymandias (King of Vale)
  • Ozymandias (King of Vale) @immortal-green-snom will get a kick out of this is reincarnated into a brown Flying Squirrel (and is mad about it) and is bonded to Ozpin (Headmaster of Beacon)
  • Ozpin (Headmaster of Beacon) after his death is reincarnated into a white Lynx and is bonded heavily to Oscar

Almost every person in Remnant loves and adores their Beasts, they are born with them, they are their other halves but the Oz’s? Their bond and loves is deeper then that because it goes back centuries. And with every new life time the connection and love only gets stronger.

Which we now go to Oscar.

Whom was heavily bullied by kids his age and older for not having a Beast. So one night when he was fast asleep while the Fall of Beacon was happening miles away.

He dreamt, dreamt that someone needed his help, he reached out and pulled, gasped a hold of the person whom needed him and instantly connection was formed, and seemed to burn his body in doing so.

And then he woke with a jolt and found a White Lynx curled on his side. Sleeping just as peacefully as he had been. The Lynx blinked his eyes open and smiled at him, “Hello Oscar. I’m— or I was Professor Ozpin”

  • Oscar is torn at first. He doesn’t know if he should be confused or happy about finally getting his Beast.
  • Ozpin is immediately protective of Oscar, as all incarcerations often are the moment the connection happens. For he sees the boys memories and knows the torture he went through not having Beast.
  • Something that he himself knew all too well. Having only gained Mandias when he was around 16 years old.
  • Plus he figured that it also had something to do with the animal that he turned into since cats were protective of their young and very territorial.
  • But Oscar doesn’t mind, he loves the attention because he’s felt so isolated and alone after being bullied for not having a Beast until now
  • Like he clings to Oz both physically and mentally as one all do with their Beasts
  • Oscar needs an emotional support animal and Oz is ready and willing to be exactly that for him.

That’s all I have for right now, still working everything out.

I can only imagine how hard this is on Luigi and Peach. Seeing her hero, someone she sees as so sturdy and strong, her dear love in such pain and the same with Luigi,

How much it breaks him to see Mario, his big brother. The brother that was always so strong and capable and brave, in tears and in such pain. Knowing that there isn’t anything he can do to magically fix it.

I can see Luigi’s anxiety getting cranked up to 20, he wants to help, but doesn’t know how to make this better. So he takes on more jobs, be it plumbing ones in the Mushroom Kingdom, by himself sometimes. He pushes himself so his brother doesn’t have to cuz he’s scared Mario will only hurt himself more and it gets to the point that Mario has to practically beg him to stop.

And Luigi can’t help but sob, as he notices that Mario can’t hug him as tightly as he used to and that just breaks him in a way he can’t describe.

I think the first time Luigi catches Mario crying about it, that’s it. He hears his brother’s cries behind closed doors, and when he walks in he just finds Mario lying on the bed, and he’s too tired and in too much pain to even pretend he’s okay. All he can do is softly whisper, “It hurts, Lou,” and Luigi has to summon every ounce of self-control not to lose it, because Mario loses it, just breaking down completely. He’s sobbing, and it doesn’t take long for Luigi to figure out that he can’t get out of bed right now. He’s shaking and crying and he can’t even turn over because he’s in too much pain.

It’s the scariest thing Luigi’s ever seen.

So yeah, Luigi overcompensates, and he panics, because he has no idea how to fix this. He doesn’t know how to be the one to hold Mario up, to be the one who has to pull their foreheads together because Mario’s too weak to do it himself, to be the one who saves everybody, to be the one who puts on a brave face. He tries, but he runs himself ragged doing too much, which only seems to hurt Mario more.

And then Peach is just watching both her boys breaking over this, and she has to try to be the voice of reason to get them both to stop pushing themselves to their limits. But it’s not as if she doesn’t push herself just the same. She has healing magic right? So then why can’t she heal this, no matter how hard she tries? Why can’t she make this go away for Mario? Why can’t she be good enough to do this one thing for him?

Happy Headcanon: Luigi 100% did that project in school where the teacher asks the whole class who their hero is and Mario happens to get a glimpse of it and founds out its him and he can’t help but run to Luigi and hug him immediately.

Important to note that obviously Mario also did his project on Luigi. When Luigi learns this, he, without thinking, just bursts out with “But why!?” And now suddenly Mario must make his own presentation three times longer because he has to explain to Luigi in extreme detail why he’s his hero 🫡 It turns into a manifesto to the whole class and he’s not stopping until everyone agrees that Luigi is their hero too.

Mario Propaganda:

  • Got physically assaulted by nearly everyone, including Foreman Spike, a dog, Toad, Toad Guards, Princess Peach, Cheep Cheeps, Donkey Kong, Koopa General, and Bowser.
  • Was injured more than anyone else in the movie by a long shot, with major plot points revolving entirely around him getting his shit kicked in.
  • Gets condescended to by almost everyone despite his efforts to be nothing but friendly.
  • Crippling sense of familial responsibility.

Luigi Propaganda:

  • Got teleported directly into hell and chased down by an army of feral skeletons.
  • Spent the entire movie being restrained and dragged around with absolutely no idea what was happening or why.
  • Endured an interrogation that ended with him being violently thrown to the floor with a large chunk of his mustache ripped out.
  • Had zero guidance, with the only friendly faces he encountered being just as helpless as he was.
  • Was nearly incinerated three separate times.

Imagine Jaune finding himself spending more time with Oscar more, like he spends time with the others sure; with Nora and Ren but he finds himself spending time with Oscar, talks with him, bonds with him, then asks on occasion for Oz too.

Not to talk really, just his presence or a casual word here and there because he, for the most part, can still when one of them is in control still and he has suddenly found comfort and understanding in both their presences because they understand, they get it and he so desperately needs that right now.

You know what I just realized Oscar was implying when Jaune asked if they would make it?

Oscar: Around that campfire, did it matter?
Jaune: No, no. I guess it didn’t.

Oscar mainly said that to make Jaune feel better but there’s also an underlying implication, he’s also saying that about himself, implying that he’s possibly come to accept that even if he doesn’t make it, that having been around everyone, his friends, making memories with them, (his own campfires, if you will) it doesn’t matter to him, because at the end of the day; he was apart of their lives and they were apart of his and nothing else matters.

It’s a beautiful sentiment that I’m sure Oz also sadly came to the same conclusion himself.

in the epilogue oscar's first shown struggling against the merge, with ozpin fighting against it too. by the end of it, when team rwby + jaune return, his expression tells that the fight is not going so well on that front.

in the first episode of beyond, sun and neptune keep calling him 'ozpin' and then correcting each other by saying 'oscar'.

in the second episode of beyond, the tone of his voice is different—one that you'd associate more with ozpin rather than oscar—and he talks about oz's life like it's his own—"i've been a subject of a couple of fairy tales myself."

and in my humblest of opinions, this should be illegal!! save him!!!

The most heartbreaking thing about this is the fact that this is something that neither they want. Oscar doesn’t want this, Oz doesn’t want this.

They are fighting a losing battle, they know it, won’t stop them from still trying; Oscar is fighting to keep being he who is and Oz is fighting for Oscar’s sake as he knows first hand how hard this is.

Yet now, both are slowly realizing they can only fight for so long. And it’s so incredibly sad, because they know this isn’t fair but they can’t really do anything about it.

Per your last post (about cringefail Mario, LOL), imagine a scene where Mario is excitedly telling Luigi about his adventure to save him, and he recounts all the ways he got the tar beaten out of him but he does it in a proud and nostalgic way because everything worked out okay in the end, plus an adventure and new friends, yay! But rather than laughing along or getting excited, Luigi is horrified and filled with guilt at what Mario endured.

Smth that really intrigues me abt Ozpin is how the HELL he became a professor or Headmaster at such a young age

Like. Canonically he's younger than Theodore, who's in his mid-late 40s (I'd wager early-mid 40s based on looks but still). So at the oldest, Ozpin is in his early 40s, maybe mid-late 30s at the youngest.

So like. He's around the same age as STRQ?? Meaning he likely got his Huntsman license, at the youngest, at 17 years old and likely became a professor and then HEADMASTER not long after that.

It's repeatedly said that Ozpin was a child prodigy (something he actually shares with Pyrrha, an interesting parallel). And honestly I just... who got him into that position?? I HIGHLY doubt that the previous Oz had something set in place for the next Oz to get into such a powerful position, bc pressuring such a young teenager is not something that's in their character (unless the KoV specifically was like that, but we don't know anything abt him).

I doubt Ozpin, as a KID who wasn't even finished with the merge yet, wanted to be Headmaster (he stated repeatedly he was in Oscars place; scared, confused, and not wanting the responsibility that comes with the merge).

Maybe there were descendants of the King of Vales own inner circle that got Ozpin into that position? If so, that's pretty fucked up ngl.

Honestly, the more you think about Ozpin, the sadder he gets. I am DESPERATE for a side show or even a freaking book about him and STRQ. He has so so many parallels with Ruby and Pyrrha. He's such a compelling character I swear

I always looked at Ozpin as some young yet incredibly but incredibly old internally. Like physically he’s young yet emotionally? Mentally? He’s aged about twenty years.

The weight of having to be headmaster of an entire school with thousands of students to protect from the Grimm and from Salem, and not that but his task as the next Oz, the weight of centuries worth of knowledge and pain of those hosts memories merging with whatever experiences he also had growing up, having to carry the weight of all that, plus the future of Remnant and humanity on his shoulders, it must be an incredibly draining task that most definitely aged him mentally and psychologically.

IM IN SPAIN WITHOUT THE S HOLY SHIT

1. Love the use of all the colors, it’s all frickin gorgeous to look at

2. Love Oz teasingly mentioning that Qrow called him pipsqueak once. Teasing Ozpin is one of my many favorite versions of Oz.

3. THE WAY I KNEW OSCAR WAS GONNA HAVE A IDENTITY CRISIS THE MOMENT EMERALD SAID “OS”! And then he did and the poor boy did and he felt like he was in a sea he couldn’t escape

4. I love that Oz calling out to Oscar to get through to him. I looooove me some concerned and caring Ozpin, that’s my freakin jam!!! 😭

5. ONCE AGAIN THE COLORS USED?! When Oscar’s comes back to reality and his eyes snaps open and we see all those versions of green, I love it

6. THE WAY MY HEART HURT AT THE END!? Oscar’s sadly saying that he’ll be Oscar forever knowing full well that to him that likely isn’t the case and then Oz not being able to say anything cuz he knows that exact feeling and knows he can’t do or say anything to make Oscar feel better
