I've asked this question before and been surprised by the results, now I have access to more weirdos it's your problem:

It is the middle of a Sunday afternoon. You have nothing on, and aren't expecting visitors, deliveries or post.

I think there's something fundamentally baffling with the way most of you think.

I would be less surprised to find a fairy on my doorstep and more disappointed in myself having opened a door, found something on my doorstep and then jumped to the conclusion that fairies are real merely based on how the thing looks.

A walrus would be surprising none the less, not because of the odds of one ending up on my doorstep, but because of the fact that there is a large and deadly pile of muscle and fat with giant teeth that could kill me with relatively little effort. I'm not thinking of how it got there, I might be a doors thickness away from death.

Friday was my last day at Valve.

we are in a media literacy crisis

friendly reminder that characters don't need to be saints to be entertaining. and telling a story does not mean endorsement. art does not need to be all about morally good people.

IDK if this was meant as hyperbole but it's literally true:

Adult literacy is low.

Child literacy is low.

Information literacy has shifted dramatically in the last decade, but reputable information sources like research journals and factual news reporting have been unable to keep pace.

We are genuinely in a crisis of media literacy, with ever fewer genuinely factual resources available in the style and language used by contemporary audiences.

It may sound condescending, but we genuinely need to remind people, or worse, explain to them for the first time that art is not evidence of real world behaviour.

So, thank you, for this reminder. Genuinely.

You're correct:

Art does not need to feature exclusively morally pure characters. Art is not proof of the creator's secret, violent desires.

Similarly, just because you might want a better outcome for a character you like doesn’t mean the story would have been better for it.  Some stories are written to tear your heart out.  Some stories are meant to invoke feelings of hopelessness and despair.  And some characters are meant to give you mixed feelings.

Yeah it’s important to note that this is not the same as WotC claiming that the “draft” they sent out with contracts was just a draft.

Netflix still fully intends to roll out anti-sharing measures by March, they just didn’t intend to post them on their site this early (supposedly).

So keep canceling subscriptions until they realize that allowing password sharing is about the only thing that was keeping them as a viable streamer anymore lmao
