There’s just something about writing a black woman being loved and spoiled that really hits home for me. It is simply unmatched on my happiness scale.

Michonne doesn’t mince words or rush moments. When she says I love you to her husband it’ll be at the exact right moment. I have a strong feeling it’ll also be said when Rick is finally out of that black uniform. So far, in every scene Richonne has had together he’s been in his CRM gear. I think removing the uniform will be symbolic of him shedding the broken soldier he’s become now and beginning to return to who he really is - not ‘Sergeant Major Grimes’ but Rick - the Rick that Michonne knows, loves, and won’t ever stop fighting for. He’s still in there and she knows it.

The search for Rick didn’t end during their first reunion in those woods, but when she finds him, really finds him, I just know we’ll hear a very beautiful I love you exchange. She’s already said it with her eyes, she’s said it with her actions, and at the right time Michonne will say I love you in words, where Rick can fully grasp that she never stopped loving him and always will. He tried to pull the ‘if you love me, you’ll go’ thing but I know Michonne is going to let Rick know there is no ‘if,’ which is why she won’t go without him. She’s madly in love with him just like he’s madly in love with her, and I love these crazy soulmates 🤍

People really out here angry at Michonne because she wants out from under the CRM. She can't follow orders. She was smirking when Thorne was talking. She's messing up Rick's plan to keep her safe. She's putting everyone they love in jeopardy. Blah blah blah. Rick, god love him, has not explained to Michonne why he can't leave. Has not explained that Jadis took him; that they had a deal. That their family is under such a serious threat.

Remember, Michonne didn't just traipse up there and fuck up everyone's plans. Rick's the one who put the gun to Michonne's head and made her go along with the subterfuge. Michonne just wants her family back together. Now she has to stand around and listen to some woman she doesn't know calling Rick her family. Has to see Jadis there looking fucking smug and then have Rick tell her they're broken and over? After he insinuated that Michonne didn't love him? And people are angry at Michonne? I am not even surprised by any of this. Michonne deserves to fuck shit up. She deserves the whole world.

Also, can we just really take in the true excellence and impact of Michonne’s character.

She’s a black woman whose story isn’t defined by the hardship of being a black woman.

She’s given incredible emotional range. She’s absolutely badass and strong, but not stoic and stiff. She’s allowed to be as compassionate and nurturing as she is fierce. She expresses grief, loss, anger, pettiness and annoyance; she also expresses hope, love, devotion, loyalty, and bravery. She’s tough and hardcore, but also soft and feminine.

She’s not the sassy best friend. She’s not the magical negro. She’s not the stepping stone for the male MC to decide he doesn’t want. She’s not forgettable or disposable. She can challenge white characters (including the main man) without the writing trying to humble or punish her.

She’s pivotal (the ratings and fan engagement prove that). She’s desirable. She isn’t chasing after a man who barely considers her to own detriment. Her love interest loves her unconditionally. He respects her and wants her in EVERY way. He dreams of her. He can’t truly live without her.

THIS is an immaculate character, brought to life by an incredible actress who is valued in production, and backed by the narrative. THIS is what characters such as Bonnie Bennett and Abbie Mills (amongst others) deserved. THIS is what we want to see.

Rick having a panic attack while making love to Michonne (for the first time in 8 years) and then watching her see it, recognize it, and pull him out of it just by placing his hand on her chest to feel her warmth and her heartbeat, is something I personally don’t think I will ever recover from. AND THEN! AND THEN! Seeing him come to literal life and mount her ????? Like his old self would???! The fan-fictions I’ve read over the years did NOT prepare me for that. Contemplating sliding into Danai’s dms to dramatically thank her for completing me.

Omg, man, Danai is an absolute, goddam FUCKING GENIUS!!! That was one of the best episodes I have ever seen on television! Just let her write everything there is!! All the movies, all the TV shows, all the books, just let her run EVERYTHING!! I don't even know where to begin!! I need to watch it like 74 more times!

God, that was perfect, that was so fucking perfect! Us Richonners have been fed so good! SO GOOD!!!! They gave us EVERYTHING!!!!

I have so many things I need to comment but my mind is going insane!!

The way he ran after her at top speed, completely desperate after she walked out the door!!

The parallel the did when he told her to leave without him on the boat and she was like "Fuck, no!" And then in this one she gets trapped under the chandelier with the walkers coming and she tells him he has to leave her and he's like "Fuck, no!"

The apartment being a smart apartment and as soon as that wide shot of the two of them looking at each other happens, it goes "Welcome home!" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA THAT WAS FUCKING GENIUS!!!!!! DANAI IS A FUCKING GENIUS!!!!!!

The way he watched her get undressed, that's how you do the male gaze, guys. Take notes.

The love making...OMFG the love making. THE LOVE MAKING!!!! I can't even begin to explain it, guys. I have no words. It was just...beautiful. It was just absolutely beautiful. I don't even know how to talk about it because it was just perfection. PERFECTION!!!

I mean, he cried, you know?! He cried in the middle of it because of how much it overwhelmed him, he had given up on feeling that happy and complete and loved a long time ago. I can't I can't I can't I CANNOT!!! It was like he was finding the way back to himself and to her and to them through it and it was just too much. DANAI IS A FUCKING GENIUS!!! I just have to say it again!

And on that note, the way they handled his trauma. I mean, this is 8 years of conditioning this man has been through. EIGHT FUCKING YEARS. He is 100% TRAUMATIZED. He doesn't know who he is anymore. I mean "I found a way to survive even though I was dead" HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! I love how they didn't just brush past that, they showed the toll it took on him and how it's not that easy to get out of a prison even after the doors are open. OMG just, chef's kiss.

Back to the love making for a second, after he goes after her and they're able to get back to the apartment, bickering all the way through fighting the walkers (amazing), the way they did it, how slow it started. He wasn't sure he could approach her but he wanted to, needed to, so he does it carefully, he starts by gently pulling her by the waist and it's slow, almost unsure kisses and then it's full on UGH!!!! INJECT IT INTO MY VEINS!!!!

Just everything about this episode. Literally every single second. Give them all of the awards, ALL OF THEM!

Danai Gurira is the best thing that's ever happened to TWD universe. I said what I said.

I know we're all still in our feels about TOWL episode 4, and frankly so am I. I've literally watched this show, today makes it 10 times. But I needed to hop on here to say my piece. I've read quite a bit of fanfiction, and produced a couple stories of my own over the years, and for the most part the theme in these fics have always been, "meant to be, soulmates, made for each other," and I've always, always believed that's what they were. But it wasn't until TOWL episode 4 that I've understood what those words actually mean. Rick and Michonne are soulmates in every conceivable way. The way they love each other makes my heart happy. They are truly a sight to behold.
