Lead Us to Temptation- Masterlist

Summary: In the small town of Eden Ridge, you knew several things to be true: church happened every Sunday, the saloon served free lunch with the purchase of a drink on Thursdays, coal miners left work at 7PM sharp, and Bucky Barnes was a man sent from the depths of hell dangling the threat of temptation and sin right in front of your face. All you need to do is reach out and grab it.

Warnings: Cowboy/western/outlaw AU, religious themes, Midwestern Gothic, dark themes, guns, violence, misogyny, crass language, alcohol, smoking, explicit content, mature content, overall mature themes. The story takes place a little further north than the typical wild west setting because I am a Midwestern girl at heart. Bucky is going to be 10 years older than reader (i am trying not to use Y/N). The time line is the late 1880s/1890s. As always my reader is most likely plus sized/curvy. If you see any Red Dead Redemption references no you didn't

i drew brian in the beatles cartoon style :) bc he has exactly one appearance in the cartoon and that is NOT my brian!!! so i did a redesign for him. ngl the creators of the cartoon fumbled the bag so bad, brian in the cartoon opens up so many possibilities. he’s literally comedy gold. anyway i love him and in another life he’s a main character in the cartoon

when y'all read x reader fan fiction, do you guys not use it as escapism? because the way you guys complain about not relating 100% to reader. like sometimes i want to imagine myself as a flirtatious reader or a complete bitch. like do y'all not imagine yourselves with a completely different personality and read it for the storytelling? you do not have to relate to every aspect of the reader and it's completely fine. some of y'all have boring lives outside of fan fiction, so use it as your escape from real life because some of y'all act like y'all want it to mirror every single aspect of it.

Ty for all your responses guys! I appreciate it. I am only on the second book and honestly I’m too lazy to learn all the lore but I want to write a Rhysand x reader fic where she’s a day court fae and also explore the relations between the two courts so it will probably be like 75% my imagination. I’ve never made anything for the acotar fandom and honestly sometimes you guys scare me (but also it’s the exact same intensity as the Beatles fandom)

Perhaps I’ll post a chapter sometime in the coming weeks!

A Midsummer Night’s Dream / Around the Beatles / April 1964

In late April of 1964, England was celebrating the 400th birthday of William Shakespeare. At the same time, “Beatlemania” was in full swing. And for a brief moment, two of Britain’s cultural treasures intersected when the Beatles performed in a playful send-up of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The sketch was recorded in London on April 28, 1964. Only the month before, the Beatles had made their American debut on the Ed Sullivan Show. The Shakespearean spoof was part of a one-hour British TV special called “Around the Beatles.” It’s from the play-within-a-play in Act 5, Scene 1 of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in which a group of actors make a mess of the classic Pyramus and Thisbe story from Ovid’s Metamorphoses.

Pyramus and Thisbe, a source of inspiration for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, are a pair of star-crossed lovers whose feuding parents forbid them from seeing one another. They live next-door to each other but are separated by walls. Through a crack in one wall they whisper their love and make plans to meet on a moonlit night under a mulberry tree. Thisbe arrives first, only to see a lion with blood dripping from its mouth after eating its prey. Terrified, she drops her veil and runs. Pyramus arrives soon afterward and sees both the blood and the veil. He assumes the lion has killed Thisbe, so he falls on his sword and dies. Thisbe returns and finds Pyramus dead. She takes his sword and kills herself.

In the silly Beatles sketch, Paul McCartney plays Pyramus, John Lennon plays Thisbe, Ringo Starr plays the Lion and George Harrison plays Moonshine. When Lennon was asked why he took the role of the maiden, he said, “Because if anyone likes dressing up more stupid than the rest, I enjoy it, you know. I was asked to do it because they thought I had the deeper voice.”
