hey, pretty girl
Heyy, I found your blog and I really enjoy your writing. it's really good and I was wondering if I could request a oneshot. the idea I had was based on this one sound from tiktok (it's from criminal minds, I'll put the link at the end of this). So it's like the reader and shinsou work at the same agency and have like a flirty, banter type of relationship and they know each other for like over a year but since non of them ever voice that they would like to be more than friends, the reader starts to look around for a romantic relationship and meets someone else. so the flirty part of the relationship stops... but like in the end the reader and shinsou end up together :)
pairing: shinsou x reader
it was not a smart idea to buy a hot coffee when it was already over 80 degrees. not only were you sweating, but the coffee was only making everything worse and, by God, why did you decide to wear a cardigan today?
"it's fine," you muttered to yourself as you pushed open the doors to your building, "I'll be nice and cold soon enough--plus, i got to see haru."
takahashi haru, the cute guy from the coffee shop, the dark eyed beauty, the nice-handed man with a plan. you'd met him a little over a month ago when you decided to try the new cafe on the corner. it was closer to the agency you worked at (which delighted you because, let's be honest, you weren't a fan of walking over fifteen minutes to your regular place) and they had a rather compelling drink advertised in the window when you first pasted by. entering the cute little cafe, blown away by how many people were already there, the last thing you were expecting was to make friends with the barista on the first day.
somehow you did and, a few weeks later, he asked you to go on a 'date' with him. well, you weren't quite sure if it was a date or not. he did ask you if you wanted to grab lunch sometime, but he never specifically said whether or not it was a date. that being said, you were stuck between having knots in your stomach and having utter confusion overwhelm you out of nowhere--cause, seriously, what did this guy want?
"hey, pretty girl," the call was so familiar that it was easy for you to give a quick response, barely thinking about it as you padded to your desk, lips twisted in a pout as your nose wrinkled.
should you wear nicer shoes? was he expecting you to wear something fancier thank normal? you sighed--why was this so hard?
"baby?" there was a sharpness to the voice now, one that signaled that the owner was more confused than anything. something in your guy lurched, your tongue feeling heavy in your mouth, and you swallowed hard. maybe...maybe going to the coffee shop and meeting haru wasn't the only thing that happened recently.
it wasn't your fault though! you tried to defend yourself from the onslaught of thoughts that pointed out the obvious. shinsou hitoshi had been your friend since your years at U.A.. while the two of you met in your junior year, you were fast friends and even ended working at the same hero agency. of course it was hard not to find shinsou attractive but you forced yourself not to think of him any differently. he was your friend--a friend who liked to flirt with you, and a friend you often wished was more than a friend. you bit your lip: could you still wish that now when haru had asked you out?
"hey!" you spun around, clenching the cup in your hands, an obviously stretched and fake smile on your face. "how are you? good? good. we should get back to work now--"
"you're avoiding me." it was a statement. you bit your lip.
"no..." your voice wavered, and the sharp look shinshou gave you was enough for you to stop before you even started. "okay, fine. so there's this guy I met at the coffee shop and he asked me on a date; but, the thing is, i don't even know if it's a date! he just asked if i wanted to get lunch--and i do!"
"get lunch with me." shinsou merely said, crossing his arms and leaning against the wall.
"what?" your mouth fell open in surprise, hands threatening to drop the cup. there was no way that shinsou--shinsou hitoshi, the guy you knew since high school, the guy who always flirted with you and who you wished asked you out--actually asked you out.
"do you not want to?" shinsou asked, "I'd like for it to be a date but, if you're not comfortable with that, we can just go as friends."
you blinked, "you want to go on a date with me?"
"yes," shinsou said, running a hand through his hair and you caught a faint glimpse of red highlighting his ears, "it's something i've been wanting since high school--you just always seemed to think i was joking."
"that's because you were joking!" you sputtered, and shinsou merely looked at you. "or, at least, i thought you were?"
a soft chuckle passed his lips and shinsou rolled his eyes with what you could only assume was affection, a light blush coating his cheeks. "well, to make it as clear as possible: y/l/n y/n, would you like to go on a date with me?"
"do you want me to wear something nice?"
"wear whatever you feel comfortable with."
you look beautiful in anything you wear.
guess you'd have to make it clear to haru that this lunch the two of you'd be having was strictly for two friends.
