Naeun had one foot into a complete new world all the while trying to keep her normal life unaffected by the fact that she was spending time with a dragon who could shapeshift into a human - or was it the contrary? She wasn’t sure exactly. Everything about Jerdess was still a bit confusing except for the fact that finding the dragon eggs was what they really needed to focus on. Even with her limited social skills, she recognized an emergency; she simply didn’t know how much of a help she could be and it worried her that they’d fail and that the male’s worst fear would turn out to be true.
She wanted to be a source of help and support for Jerdess even though she was all too aware that she probably wasn’t the best option out there. However, she knew that she wasn’t the worst one either: her talent definitely laid in doing the impossible on the internet, getting herself in places most of the people didn’t even think they could exist. And she knew people. By working in such motel, she had watched and learned, she had kept mental notes about human beings and how far they were willing to go just for their sake. So, hopefully, Jerdess’s knowledge combined with hers could be surprisingly helpful. Naeun wasn’t sure if she could consider the male as a friend or an acquaintance of an unique kind, but what she was sure of was that she wasn’t going to let him down. She wanted to help him and protect what was important for him.
“I haven’t thought about what we will do ifㅡ when we will find the eggs but there’s one thing I know and it’s that I need you,” she spoke softly, her fingers carefully wrapping the bandage around the male’s arm, “you can’t go around getting into fights. I can’t imagine how you feel, that’s true.” Naeun admitted and glanced up at Jerdess though she was quick to look back down ㅡ eyecontact didn’t really make her feel comfortable. “But if we even have a slim chance to find them, then you have to stay focused. I’ll do my researches on the dark web, see if there has been anything that’s remotely close to dragon eggs. You’ll be the first to know if I find anything, and then we’ll take the next step.”
Naeun didn’t know how she got good at talking. God, she didn’t even know how she managed to get all of that out of her and she couldn’t deny that she was feeling a little out of breath afterwards. Biting down on her lower lip, she tied the bandage neatly and focused her gaze on it for a few seconds, trying to remain calm and true to her words.
Jerdess really didn't want to imagine what could happen if his siblings hatch while being around strangers. Either, these people would kill the baby dragons because they were scared or they would train the baby dragons to their liking. Then, not even Jerdess could help them anymore. A dragon learns during the first years, no months if they are going to be good dragons or badly manipulated ones. Yes, Jerdess has seen dragons trained by humans and they haven't done good things. Especially now that his kind was nearly died out, it was important to keep these eggs close and raise the baby dragons in a good way.
With a sigh falling from his lips, Jerdess lowered his head while he let Naeun treat his wounds. She was right with everything she has said so far, but the dragon was too proud to admit it out loud. What should he do without his siblings? Being the last dragon alive scared him to death. He couldn't be the last of his species. Even though he possessed a human form now, he was still different. Still, in silence, he watched her putting the bandage around his arm. It still stung a lot, but he has been through worse during the great war in his world. Humans have nearly killed him with their weird sticks which flew through the air, he has seen those sticks stabbing his friends right through the heart despite their strong scales.
❝ You are right, I can't do that. If I die, there won't be any dragons anymore. ❞ Besides the eggs, his siblings, but Jerdess wasn't sure if they were able to hatch in this world and if they were able to hatch, then he had no clue if they would be able to survive. It was devastating to even think about it all. ❝ Dark web...what is that? Sounds like a...cave. ❞ the dragon asked a little confused and tilted his head to the side. ❝ Thank you for treating my wound, by the way. ❞ he reached for his shirt again. After all, he hasn't forgotten his manners, that was a good thing, right?
❝ You know...if they hatch...they are...well...if the people know what do to with a dragon, they can become strong weapons. We dragons learn from our mother, like humans, right? But if we are not getting taught manners we are dangerous. I have seen dragons who grew up with humans, they killed for humans, not for food. ❞ Jerdess sighed loudly while taking his shirt on again. ❝ We might look like monsters to you guys, but we would never kill anyone unless we are on a hunt and don't worry, we don't hunt humans. We only hunt big animals. Humans are just so scared of us that they attack us first, at least they have done that where I came from. I don't want my siblings to experience the same. ❞
