“When I was young, I wasn’t so clear on the whole gravity thing. And my imagination got me in a lot of trouble. But there was this one moment when time stopped. And everything made sense. Then I landed and broke my wrist. But from that day on, I’ve always known that in another life I could fly. And that’s why in this life, I dance.”

Almond flour, Fabian needs almond flour. Abigail does so love macarons, though, Fabian is unsure he’ll be capable of making them, he decides he should take a crack at it. However, he’s been staring at a bag of almond flour for the past few minutes, unflinching as he thinks on his little girl growing up, on how it had been seven years since he’d lost Charlotte. Eventually, hearing footsteps, he snaps out of it and grabs the bag of flour, almost dropping it, he hisses and manages to capture it, “Oh, that, wow,” he says, placing it away and trying to laugh at himself, “That could have been quite a, um, disaster.”

Claire’s whole attention was focused on the corridors, trying to find what she was looking for. The brunette was running a couple of errands for a friend, who seemed to once again be stuck in the kitchen and with no time to get out as usual, and she didn’t mind going to the store to get what the other needed. What she hadn’t expected though was to startle the man who seemed to stare intently at the bag of almond flour – whether because he was trying to figure out if that was really what he needed or because he was lost in thought, she couldn’t tell. “I’m so sorry!” She immediately apologized, eyes widened at the sight. “Did I startle you? I didn’t mean to. Thankfully you have good reflexes.”

Blood Ties. | Claire & Mason

He wasn’t sure what to say. Usually it’s just some fan that tries to get a picture with him so he’d play it off all cool. As if he was. He just stared at her, which probably made her feel very uncomfortable. His brows furrowed in thought, as if he was looking to see if there were any similarities of them. Or if he could see any of his father in her facial structure.
The actor nodded, and swallowed the bile that was making his way up in his throat. His Adam’s apple bobbed before looking back down at his phone and then looking back up at her. The only words he could make out was “Yeah.” Mason blinked. He realized he didn’t even say his last name, but then again, didn’t realize which one to say. He’d been wondering what it would be like to introduce himself as an Atwood. It wasn’t like he’s practiced in front of a mirror. He has.
“Claire.” He said her name out loud just as she did with his. It was weird saying her name, instead of just seeing it. He was also surprised at the fact that he just met his sister, half-sister, at completely random. “Nice to meet you too.” Mason said, acting like a complete moron. It was almost as if she was the famous one, and he was a fan. Which technically wasn’t far from the truth.

Claire starred at the male for a moment, her smile faltering slightly as he took a moment to speak. She wondered if she had upset him in any way, but how could she, when she’d barely even said two words? Maybe it was the fact that she had recognized him when he probably just wanted to have a nice coffee by himself, without running into any crazy fans. She knew how that was, though she wasn’t easily recognized as he was, unless there were ballet fans in the area who actually followed her career.

When he finally reacted to her words, the brunette exhaled a breath she’d been holding, glad that at least he didn’t snap at her. Maybe he was just trying to be polite rather than send her away.

Nevertheless, Claire decided she should not push her luck. She had apologized and introduced herself, and it was probably best to leave him alone now. She offered him another kind smile, before once again opening her wallet, leaving another bill on the counter. “This one’s on me. You know, for almost running you over.” And for getting in his way all at once. “I didn’t mean to interrupt you, but I hope you have a wonderful day. I think you’ll find this is a vey nice and quiet coffee house.” She told him, offering him one more smile before turning to find a free table to sit on.

“I mean, I can’t really play if I don’t have it down so it doesn’t bother me. A lot of people don’t, I wouldn’t feel embarrassed. At least this way you have a slighter chance of it not going too badly.”
image
“I guess you have a point.” Claire agreed with a small nod of her head. Plus, if she had company, it wouldn’t feel so humiliating. “I suppose it’s also a good way to learn. You got to start somewhere, right? So, are you up for a match?”

“That’s good, we’d have a falling out otherwise,” She teased. She let out a laugh too, looking through her phone to find a picture of the moment Alex had lost. “Here’s the proof. Just look at his little pouty face. He didn’t speak to me for a while.”
image
“Oh my God.” Claire breathed out as she gazed at the picture, unable to control her laughter by now. She knew Alex’s pout was mostly for show, but it was still a pretty funny image nonetheless. “That doesn’t surprise me. He doesn’t like having her skills tested and threatened.”

“Exactly And good for the soul wins every time” Evie mued with a little laugh. “At least if we work out, then we hopefully will only get good benefits from pizza” And she got a good work out in her bakery, so hopefully it would even out.
“that’s what I thought. And the business is pretty successful now, so I’m kinda pretty confident a second premise would work out well” And she brought in a good amount of money in her current bakery, so she was pretty hopeful that it would work out. “Oh… I hadn’t actually….” She mused with a smile. She hadn’t thought of that before, but thinking about it, it would be a good idea. She knew quite a lot of people who might want to invest, so it would be pretty good. And she knew eventually she would probably want to expand further one day. It would probably be a good idea. “I’ll have to think about it…. but getting an investor might work out well”
image
“Pretty much.” Claire chuckled, nodding along as Evie spoke; Claire’s work outs consisted more of morning yoga and intense dance training which was intense enough that required her to ingest a large amount of caloric food that would give her enough energy to continue throughout the day, so it worked perfectly in her book.

“I honestly think it would. There’s a lot of people who are always eager to invest in new, promising businesses, and yours clearly fits in the bill.” She told her with a smile. Claire had no doubt that a second bakery would be pretty successful, if the success of the first one was anything to go by. “You need to choose a good location, though. Are you planning on getting a partner to help you run one of the locations while you’re at the other? I don’t know much about how businesses work to be honest!” That wasn’t really her field of expertise. Now dancing, that was a whole other thing.

“Pizza is never a bad idea” Evie mused with a smile. She loved pizza, though she wasn’t too good at making it. Yes she was good at baking, but cooking wasn’t really her thing. She did need to get better though. She couldn’t live on fast food, or take out for the rest of her life. Or well, she could. But then she probably wouldn’t be very healthy. “Those people are just silly” She mused with a laugh. “Pizza is amazing” She didn’t get why people didn’t like pizza. It just didn’t make sense. Though she didn’t like some food, so maybe she could kind of understand.
“I think so yeah” The brunette murmured with a smile. Her bakery business was doing quite well, and she wanted to expand, and make sure it kept going well. She hoped that opening a second premise would do well. “I haven’t really looked yet” She explained with a nod. “I’m just seeing if I an afford it yet….then I’ll start having a look around”

“Agreed. I don’t know how they can resist it, it’s so good. I mean, bad for your body, but good for the soul.” The ballerina joked letting out a laugh. It wasn’t something as absurd as the pair made it seem, but still.

“I think expanding your business will be great, to be honest. It will allow you to reach out to more people and your goodies should be shared with everyone to be honest! Doesn’t feel right to deprive people of such thing.” She chuckled. “Have you thought about reaching out to investors or something? Perhaps have a partner to help you? I have a feeling some people would be interested in investing in your business.” Claire would invest herself if she could, but the sad truth was that she couldn’t afford to invest that kind of money at the moment. Her father however had more than enough to do so, yet she knew he’d never go for it, not even if she asked him to do it as a favor. The thought itself made her shoulders slump, discouraged for being unable to help her friend. “I hope you can make it work someday soon.”

“I mean. I was pretty devastated about not making the olympics, but I still had my gold medals. So it couldn’t take that away from me” And that was what she kept thinking. She still had her medals in her boxes at her apartment. She liked looking at them. Her injury couldn’t take away her wins, even if it had prevented her getting  any olympics medals. But she had come to terms with that now. “I am a sports physical therapist. I’m hoping to work back within gymnastics eventually”
Image
“Yeah, you’re right about that. Nothing will ever take those good moments away from you.” She agreed, giving her a smile. At least the blonde was able to look at the bright side of things, Claire guesses that made things a little easier for her and she was glad. She was well aware of how devastating it was to have something so important ripped away from one’s arms just like that. “So you help people, that’s awesome! I bet you’re going to do it, you just have to keep trying.”

Blood Ties. | Claire & Mason

Mason was always an early morning riser. He kept his head on correctly when he was able to wake up early in the morning and run. Running was his morning ritual. That, and coffee. He was a huge coffee fan. He found this little coffee shop a couple of weeks ago and it had easily become one of his favorites.
He was standing in line glancing down at his phone. His new tv show had just aired and he was getting different reviews on it. His agent had just sent a text when the girl in front of him spoke out. He looked up at her. It almost felt like the world stopped. Claire. Claire Atwood. His younger sister. Half-sister. He knew exactly who it was because of the mild stalking he would do over social media. His birth father’s daughter. Mason was pretty much speechless, until she spoke again.
“What?” He blurted out, before blinking frequently and shaking his head. “Yeah, I’m fine.” He nodded after that. “Mason.” He said basically introducing himself. Not a lot of people know him unless they watched his tv shows so he was able to go out without a disguise. He could only imagine how bad Ryan Gosling had it. “Though, that actor has a nice ring to it also, I presume.”
Image
The male looked stunned at first and Claire wondered if she had gotten him wrong or if he was simply caught off guard by the way she almost collided with him, which in turn made her feel embarrassed for having been so careless. However when he spoke, he didn’t seem bothered at all, but rather surprised. Which wasn’t so strange, considering he’d had his attention solely focused on the small electronical device in his hands.

Mason.” She repeated after him, correcting herself. As weird as it was, Claire hadn’t really memorized his name, considering her time in front of the tv was limited, but she’d still caught glimpses of his face in magazines and had seen a few scenes here and there of his tv shows.

A small laugh passed through the brunette’s lips. “I’m sorry, I’m just terrible with names.” She explained with a small, embarrassed smile. It wasn’t a lie, due to her line of work she was constantly meeting people – in the business and out of it alike, and it was difficult to keep track of every new name she learned (though she’d make sure to remember this one). “I’m Claire. It’s nice to meet you, even though I almost ruined your day by spilling coffee on you.”

Upon hearing Claire’s words about how they would go through the petite brunette, caused Poppy to hold back a laugh. Claire was the complete opposite of her, but it’s why they got along so well. Claire was Poppy’s voice of reason, and Poppy was there to push Claire – to cut down her boundaries. “I bet you mean mugged the assistant she’d cry.” Her voice barely above a whisper to make sure only Clarie would hear her mean-ish yet funny comment.
Image
“Food sounds amazing right now.” Without unlinking their arms, Poppy continued to say as she started to make her way towards the double doors with the exit sigh above it, “- I have a few shirts for you, and no this time I did not steal them. They designer gave me a shit ton of outfits.” Probably the best part of her job, besides the traveling and the free passes into clubs, was all the free clothes Poppy got.

Claire leaned over as Poppy lowered her voice, a hearty laugh escaping through her parted lips, although she felt a pang of guilt at the image of the woman being threatened. “I bet she would. I’m not sure if I could live with myself if I did something so terrible to her, but I’d do it for you.” She joked with a grin. Claire herself wasn’t very threatening, and of course this was merely a joke between the two friends, but if Poppy needed her help – even for something that seemed as simple as getting away from her work site –, the ballerina would be the first to lend a helping hand. While some would argue the differences between them are abysmal and that the pair are like night and day, the friendship between them worked surprisingly well. Even if they had both come from different circles and if they had such different personalities, it was like they balanced each other out.

“I thought it might. You’ve been working nonstop for hours.” It was true that there was a ton of food around the set for everyone to dig in, but Claire also knew that there was nothing like sitting down at a small little restaurant with an actual meal, of even at home with some take out. “Oh, good, I feel much more relaxed knowing you didn’t steal them this time.” She joked, emphasizing the last two words. “Are they from the new collection? Was the designer hoping for some free advertising?”

“It does….” Evangeline murmured with a pouty. They didn’t have a friendship which  required constant contact, but it did make Evie sad when she didn’t get to see her friend that often. Claire was one of her closest friends, even if they didn’t seen each other that often, and that just said everything about their friendship. She did wish she could see Claire more, but she wasn’t about to moan about not seeing her that much. Maybe it would be possible if she didn’t work so often, but hse knew Claire appreciated how she felt about her bakery, and didn’t mind having a workaholic as a friend.
“Pizza sounds great” She murmured with a beam. Honestly Evie loved pizza, and she really didn’t mind what the girl had ordered for them to eat. Evie loved food, and wouldn’t say no to any good. “Exactly. Pizza is great in any situation” If she could eat pizza all the time she really would. The girl started to get changed into her more comfy pajamas. “It’s good” She murmured with a smile. “I’m thinking of buying a second property”
Image
Claire grinned at the other’s eager response, glad that their night was off to a great start. “You’re right about that, that’s why, whenever I’m not sure what to cook or order, pizza is always the answer.” She mused, her forehead creasing a second later. “Although, I’ve been wrong in the past before. Did you know some people don’t really like pizza?” It wasn’t often that she had encountered them, but sometimes it did happen that she messed up a dinner party by ordering pizza for someone who refused to eat it.

She perked up as Evie mentioned buying another property, her words suddenly picking her interest – more than she already had. “What, really? You’re going to expand?” She inquired. In all honesty, it was a great idea and she knew that Evie would be successful – if the hours she dedicated to the bakery were any indication of how hard she’d work to make the new place successful. Not to mention that by now, she’d already made a name for herself. “Tell me everything, have you looked through places yet? Or is it an idea very much still in the paper?”

It had been pretty awful. But Thea was over it now. It had taken a long time, and some counselling, but she had gotten through it. She didn’t want to let it ruin the rest of her life, and so she hadn’t. “I did coach for a few years, but I do love my job.” Thea murmured with a smile. “Being able to rehab people back into the sport is pretty great” And it was something that she was glad that she could do now. “It was horrible.. but I don’t regret not carrying on”
Image
Claire nodded her head in understanding; she was one of the lucky ones if she really thought about it – while her injury had forced her to resign the position it had taken her years to achieve, she could still go back to the active and perhaps, who knows, work her way up again. “Nor should you ever regret it. As long as you’re happy, that’s what matters.” She smiled at the blonde, knowing fully well it wouldn’t do them any good to hold on to the past, they could only move forward. “What exactly do you do now?”

Blood Ties. | Claire & Mason

( &&. @masondaniels )

Claire’s classes didn’t start until 3pm yet, at 8 in the morning, the brunette was already up, she had already gone to her favorite quiet corner in the park near the apartment to get her morning yoga done, and had now just walked inside her favorite coffee shop to get her morning fix of caffeine, yoga mat carefully tucked under her arm.

Once the barista called out her name, she was quick to approach the register and take her order, carefully blowing some strands of her heir that had gotten lose from her braid, before taking a small sip of the coffee. It was as hot as she imagined the fire of hell to be, and it warmed her inside, a pleased sigh escaping through her parted lips. It was enough to make her feel revigorated and ready to take on the studio – in two or three months, there would be some open auditions and she wanted to be ready by then.

As she turned to walk away, Claire was caught by surprise with the proximity of the body next to her in line, and it was by an inch that she didn’t drop her whole drink on the male. “I’m sorry—!” She gasped, despite the fact that she stopped before bumping against the other. “Are you alright?” Perhaps an unnecessary question, but she needed to make sure. A small frown came over her forehead as her gaze fell upon the man’s face, his features familiar to her. Where had she seen him before? Recognition flared in her eyes. Oh, that’s right. “Wait a minute, you’re that actor, aren’t you?”

Flashes from the camera, the huge fan, and the makeup artist were driving Poppy crazy. As the last picture was taken and the photographer gave Poppy the okay to take off her heels, the brunette ripped the metal studded heels off her red feet and rushed over to Claire. There was a small knot in the pit of Poppy’s stomach due to the little fact that Claire had to wait even if it was ten minutes.
A laugh escaped through Poppy’s lips as Claire hugged her. “Please kidnap me,” The model playfully joked as she hugged her dear friend back. “ – But I’m done for the day, and thank you for the coffee.” Letting go of Claire and glancing around the room, to see that she was indeed free to leave, Poppy smile. “I just have to change, and we can go.”

Claire laughed at Poppy’s response, and even though she knew the brunette was joking, she would gladly kidnap her and take her away from that place if that’s what needed to be done in order for Poppy to finally get some rest. “They don’t go easy on you, do they? Well, now they must go through me in order to get to you.” She declared, lacing her arm through Poppy’s, as if locking her in place, a statement to everyone she would let the model go any time soon.

Glancing around as Poppy did, Claire noticed that her friend had been released from her duties, a happy smile growing on her lips. “Okay, go get changed, I’ll wait here.” She offered, looking at Poppy. “Then we can go get some food, what do you think?” She could guess that the brunette hadn’t had much to eat yet, considering how long she’d been working at the shoot.

Evangeline wasn’t sure what Claire was intending to do about food. Whilst she was a great baker, she wasn’t the best cook in the world, and knew that her friend wasn’t the best either. So Evie had decided to bake a few treats for them. It was what she was good at, and she’d wanted to try a few new things. She knew Claire would be a good taste tester, and just hoped she didn’t mind. She hoped her friend liked them, since she had wanted to sell them at the bakery eventually.
The brunette beamed as Claire opened the door. It really had been too long, and she said it all the time, but they really needed to hang out more. Their friendship didn’t need them to see each other every day, but she still wanted to see her friend more. “Hi!”  She beamed, hugging her friend. She loved Claire so much, and was glad that however much time spent apart, they were still great friends. “I’m glad to be here! I feel like I haven’t seen you for ages”

“Honestly, it does feel like we never see each other anymore.” Claire agreed, and the situation had only become worse when she started working at the dance school. Before that, when she was unemployed, she used to go to the bakery every so often; in there, she was surrounded by people, she could talk to Evie here and there and it gave her a break for them ever present thoughts than always ran through her mind, almost driving her to madness. But since finding the new job, her days were filled with activities, leaving her less time to hand with her friends, hence why she had decided to invite Evie over for a small slumber party. It would be good for the two of them.

“Come here, let’s get you settled!” She told her, already pulling Evie to the bedroom, where she could get changed into her pajamas – Claire had already done it while she waited for her friend to arrive. “I ordered us some pizzas, I hope you don’t mind. I could have made us some vegan food, but I wasn’t sure if you’d like it. Plus, slumber parties come hand in hand with junk food, and I thought, you can never go wrong with pizza.” She explained with a little chuckle, plopping down on the bed and giving Evie time to get changed. “How are things at the bakery?”

“Yeah.” Thea murmured, with a little sigh. She did miss her gymnastics so much. But it was over now, and she tried to not let it make her too sad. “I had to retire from gymnastics. It sucked cause I was all set for the Olympics” But she hadn’t. Luckily she’d had a lot of time to get over it now. “Oh. That’s good!I was sad that I had to retire. But it was that, or completely ruin my knee”
Image
“Aw, that’s awful.” Claire let out, the crease on her forehead deepening at the information. She could only imagine how hard it was for the blonde, knowing she couldn’t go back to doing something she loved so dearly. “Did you find something else that you’re passionate about, at least?” The ballerina had found that teaching loved teaching almost as much as she loved dancing, even if it wasn’t quite the same thing and wasn’t as fulfilling. “No, yeah, that was totally the right call, albeit a difficult choice. I can’t even imagine it.”
