Bride-To-Be

Summary - Spencer Reid never thought he would have the picturesque love written out in romance novels he can read in minutes. That is until he fell into perfectly requited love with his bride-to-be and realized that there is no traditional script of how love is supposed to go.

GN!Fiancé!Reader (they/them pronouns used but mentioned to be a bride and to have a bachelorette party... of sorts!) x Spencer Reid

Category - Fluffy fluff fluff :)

TW - Cursing, mentions of alcohol consumption (no actual written event of it, though), and Spencer being sickeningly in love <3

Please let me know if I missed anything!

Contains - Pre-established relationship (engagement), Spencer being somewhat uncanonically bold, a bachelorette party, implied bachelor party, unapologetic Jemily shipping, and Spencer being the romantic we all know Diana raised him to be.

Author’s Note - I will never leave this out: please never hesitate to make any comments or provide constructive criticism! I simply want to improve my writing and maybe spread some joy to anyone in need of it. Happy reading, my loves <3

"Please tell me you’re joking," Emily Prentiss deadpans, sitting herself casually in Derek Morgan's abandoned desk chair as if it is her own.

“Yeah, I’m sorry. You’re gonna have to repeat that last part,” JJ insists, moreso hoping than genuinely thinking she has heard me wrong.

“Hey, what Y/N wants is what Y/N shall receive… even if they would rather peruse the contents of a small but well-stocked library or homey, secondhand bookstore over the work bag of a,” Penelope Garcia clears her throat awkwardly, “mysterious man of the night.” Her last few words trail off in embarrassment.

“I am getting married for a reason,” I remind them, “I have no interest in, how was it that you phrased it? ‘A mysterious man of the night?’” The rest of my friends join in my lighthearted laughter at the expense of the sweet technical analyst.

safe spaces (spencer reid x reader)

prompt: reader and spencer meet in a sober bar. summary: reader goes to a sober bar during their recovery and meets a man who understands them in ways no one else had. pairing: spencer reid x gn!reader category: hurt/comfort content warnings: language, mentions of past drug/alcohol use, discussions of addiction recovery, discussions of potential relapsing word count: 2.9k a/n: well, here it is. i have to admit, i’m a little nervous about posting this one. it holds a very special place in my heart, and i think it’s officially the most personal thing i’ve ever written. also, a huge thanks to @imagining-in-the-margins for this prompt, it was absolutely wonderful to write in so many ways. so yeah, um, enjoy and as always, remember to take care of yourself first <3

It’s busier than you thought it would be.

After weeks of walking up to the door, sighing, and turning around before you could commit, you were finally seated at the bar, hand curled around a glass for the first time in years. There was no feeling of regret though—no thoughts of if your sponsor would be upset with you for this decision—because one quick glance around showed at least four other people with one hand stuck deep in their pocket, likely fiddling with the same kind of token now cooling your fingers.

You were sipping on something called a Sunrise but for once there was no fear of what it would do to you in return. There was just you, sitting at a new yet strangely-familiar bar, sipping a fruity drink and wondering when it had ever gotten to be this easy.

“What do you recommend?”

The voice was new, not any of the others that had casually faded away into the background over the minutes you’d been sat there. It sounded close, and one glance over confirmed your thoughts as a new man got comfortable two seats down from you. His long legs tucked awkwardly around the stool, trying not to take up more space at the bar than one person should. His shoulders curled forward as he leaned his forearms on the counter, fingers occasionally picking at themselves before he seemed to remind himself that he shouldn’t be doing that. His hair was gorgeous—perfectly curled and just messy enough to make you want to reach out and wrap your fingers in it.

He also wore the same look in his eyes that you’d seen a thousand times over again. That stare, completely exhausted in more ways than one and trying desperately not to reveal to the world the guilt tucked away within him. You knew this man in the same way you knew everyone who came to meetings every Thursday night at 8 pm. You didn’t know his name or his story, but you certainly knew that he had suffered in a way you understood intimately.

“I wouldn’t know,” you answered, letting out a breathy laugh over the rim of your drink. “This Sunrise Punch is good if you like sugary drinks, though.”

The Way I Love(d) You: Part One

Childhood friendships aren’t often made because of compatibility in the way adult ones are—instead, it’s often a mixture of being in the same class, living close to one another, or even simply having parents that knew each other.

Your family had known the Reids for as long as you could remember. They were the darling couple who lived across the street from you—the woman with long curly blond hair and a successful past career as a professor, the man with a business job that your dad constantly talked about. Your parents were overjoyed when the Reids announced they were pregnant just short of two years after you were born. They liked the couple enough, could deal with sleepovers and playdates, so became determined to have you be best friends with their kid, no matter what.

From the very beginning, everyone knew little Spencer Reid was a marvel. Every adult who met him said the same thing: “He’s going to do great things someday.” Your mother worried for you, scared all of the compliments given to him would give you a complex. You always had enjoyed the attention though, loudly proclaiming to anyone who would listen that you had the smartest best friend in the world.

A Moment of Weakness: Part Four

PART FOUR: INTERROGATIONS & FAMILY

summary: spencer interrogates sophie’s husband in hopes of getting a major breakthrough in the case. sophie remembers her first thanksgiving with spencer. series summary: a jane doe walks into a minnesota hospital at 2:13am in the middle of winter, requesting that dr. spencer reid with the fbi be notified. the jane Doe is spencer’s college friend, with whom he’d lost communication over a year before—the friend who, according to everyone else in her life, wasn’t missing at all. so the question still remains, what happened to her in the fourteen months she was gone, and why did no one report her disappearance? pairing: spencer reid x original female character content warnings: canon-wtypical violence/case descriptions, mentions/descriptions of abuse, mentions of sexual assault, mentions of fertility issues, misogyny word count: 6.4k a/n: i just wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone! i was not expecting this support for this fic, so thank you so much. i would love to hear what y'all think of everything so far. also, let me know if you want any kind of tag list set up. i also wanted to put here a note i have on ao3 about this fic. i wanted to point out that in some ways spencer may seem ooc. while he should be close to his character on the show, i have been heavily considering how having any sort of stable support system before the bau would change how he thought and acted, so if there are some slight differences then know they're intentional.

NOVEMBER 12, 2011

Spencer usually tried not to think ill of their suspects before they had enough evidence to convict. Even then, many of them had suffered heavy trauma that made them into what they were.

That didn’t stop him from imagining all of the ways he could kill Thomas Bennington. The man was sitting in the interrogation room, not seeming concerned at all. His shoulders were relaxed and dropped, head up and eyes looking around the room not to calculate but merely to look. He didn’t look like a man whose wife had been missing for fourteen months. He looked more like a man who was sitting and waiting for a movie to start.

“You’re not going in there,” a stern voice spoke, his boss coming up to stand alongside him in front of the observation window.

“Hotch,” Spencer immediately protested, whipping his head to the side to stare at the other man. Surely he understood why he had to go in there? “I have to.”

Later, Sophie would tell herself she wasn’t snooping. She wasn’t.

His bedroom door was open and usually, that meant Spencer was in there and she could pop in to say something. This time though, it backfired on her.

She got back from high school, her tennis practice having been canceled. “Hey, Spencer, I’m ho-Oh, you have a date or something?” There was no way to control the way her cheeks heated up upon sliding into his doorway only to see Spencer standing in front of his mirror, dressed in a suit that was a little baggy on him, and trying to knot his tie.

For what it was worth, he seemed embarrassed about the situation too. Spencer jumped, hands practically throwing the tie away from him like it was evidence of a crime. “What? No, no I’m not going on a date. Why would I be going on a date?”

“So today I thought we could try a macchiato, which so many people get so confused about because they think i-” Sophie stopped her mini-speech once she reached their usual table, two mugs in hand. Typically, Spencer greeted her with that cute little smile, but this time his head didn’t even lift from where it was bent over a book. Actually, it was strange enough that he even had a textbook out. The pair had a routine; he would get to the shop midday and would get his studying done, but would have his things away by the time Sophie’s shift started after her high school let out. “Hey, what’s wrong, Mr Genius?”

She watched as his entire upper body jerked, clearly snapping out of whatever train of thought he’d been on. “Oh, I’m sorry, Sophie. I was lost in thought.”

“Yeah, I could tell. I guess that’s what happens when you’re a literal genius.” Sophie set the mugs down on the table before slipping into her usual seat, taking a quick glance to make sure none of the other customers actually needed anything first.

“You don’t have to keep saying it, I know it’s annoying when I-”

“What? No way I’m ever letting it go. You should be proud of how smart you are,” Sophie answered simply, “You’re totally gonna change the world, I know it.”

UNKNOWN DATE

It took exactly forty-three seconds for her to recognize that it was snowing.

The flakes landed in her hair, clung to her eyelashes, and mixed with the tears making tracks down her cheeks. The ice on the ground burned against her feet and- oh, God, was she barefoot? When had that happened? “I lost my shoes,” she whispered, stopping her trek to stare at the dirty, red-stained feet holding her up. Where were they? “Please.” She didn’t know who she was talking to. It was the middle of the night and there weren’t even any cars speeding down the road she walked beside. There was no one to hear her pleas.

Except there must have been because a hand was on her shoulder. A man was standing in front of her, face full of concern and fear, one large hand gripping her shoulder to keep her upright. She hadn’t noticed before, but she’d been swaying where she stood until he’d reached out. “-all the police.”

why i believe jason gideon from criminal minds is autistic: an essay by me

i’d like to start by saying that autism manifests differently in different people and i think that gideon has learnt to mask* effectively over the course of his life that makes his autism seem a lot more subtle/hidden in comparison to, say, spencer. i feel like it should also be noted that he does have PTSD so some symptoms could overlap or be because of that instead. i’m gonna split this into different autistic traits and examples of when he portrays them (i’ll provide screenshots where i can). [note most examples are from s1 i gave up half way through s2] *masking is artificially performing social behavior that is deemed to be more socially acceptable (by neurotypical standards) or hiding behavior that might be viewed as socially unacceptable.

First Date, First Sight, First Love

Summary - Spencer Reid is not one for dating... or so it seems. The effectiveness of a blind date set up by Penelope Garcia proves that he is certainly not as bad at the whole romance thing as he lets people believe.

Neighbor!BestFriend!Penelope Garcia x GN!Reader (they/them pronouns used!) x Spencer Reid

Category - Absolutely tooth rotting, beware-

TW - Cursing, mentions of misogyny (no actual application!), mentions of alcohol consumption (not anything dangerous, Garcia just got a little lost in counting...), (I really do not know if this counts but I figured better safe than sorry) extremely brief mention of reader wearing makeup but I tried to make it small and easily ignorable if it does not apply, Garcia's scorching sass, and Spencer being an adorably nervous lil' bean <3

Please let me know if I missed anything!

Contains - Spencer having a bit of self-doubt, Garcia being characteristically relentless, brief mention of reader wearing makeup, and Spencer being such a freaking romantic that my heart swelled two sizes writing this.

Author's Note - As always, please, please do not hesitate to make any comments or provide constructive criticism. All I want to do is improve my writing and hopefully spread some happiness to anyone who may find themselves needing it. Enjoy <3

~~~
"Whoever this is, I swear to you, I can and most certainly will run a background check on you and find out where you live. I assure you, I am in possession of the capabilities. I so have that happy ability and once I do that, you-" Garcia grumbles loudly as she drags herself most unwillingly out of bed to return the harassment she is receiving from the person so rudely knocking on her door ungodly loudly at such odd hours of the night. No, scratch that, damn near breaking down her door is more accurate. She almost wonders if it's Morgan but he has the capacity to actually break down her door so she doubts it.
Flinging the door open and facing her unwelcome visitor, she finds that her surprise has dulled as her memory of the past week is freed from her sleep-deprived mind. Of course, she was expecting this.
reminder that moon knight has always been jewish and Oscar Isaac is just another gentile actor hired by marvel studios to play a jewish character. marc spector’s DID is literally tied to his jewishness and the violent antisemitism he experienced as a child. erasing moon knight’s jewishness makes him a completely different character.
I love oscar isaac, but I would encourage others to consider not supporting this project. or; at the very least, consider pirating it so marvel studios doesn’t get your money or views. otherwise marvel will just keep erasing jews and jewishness from its projects with no repercussions.
this isn’t a “you’re a bad person if you watch this show” post; that’s not the point; it’s just asking other non-jews to consider the harm of jewish erasure and to please listen to these issues when jewish people speak on them. also, reminder that american comics were an artform created by jews, only for them to continue to be erased from the stories they created. it’s a deeply systemic issue, which is what makes it so upsetting.
