By popular request (ones, nearly ten[s] of people are asking), here's my Republican-specific congresscritter tariffs script:

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I'm a constituent from [CITY/TOWN, ZIP].

I'm calling [REPUBLICAN REP/SEN NAME] to ask [HIM/HER] to save our economy.

The tariffs announced on April 2nd are taxes. The American Enterprise Institute says it's a tax increase that will destroy our economy. They say there are zero benefits, there will be zero benefits. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Cato Institute and Manhattan Institute all agree, it's just a wrecking ball made of taxes. There's no upside.

These tariff-taxes will cost American jobs—private sector layoffs are already starting—and destroy American businesses, short-term and long-term. This is going to ruin people. The stock market is already cratering.

If we as a country are going to make sweeping economic changes, it's congress's job to draft and vote on those. We need review and oversight, not to be handed down dictatorial decisions, no matter who's president.

So, I ask that [REPUBLICAN REP/SEN NAME] intervene by backing a joint resolution, or by any means available, to stop Trump's misuse of emergency powers. Put a stop to the tariffs, rein in the overreach, and return financial and economic decision-making to congress where it belongs.

LGBT people, I need you to know that any “pedophile execution bill” passed in the US is meant to put you, personally, to death. When the right says “groomer,” they’re talking about you. When they say “predator,” they’re talking about you. When they say “pedophile,” they’re talking about you. Any actual child sex abusers who are convicted and executed would be, to them, a happy accident, a cherry on top of a law that’s meant to exterminate anyone who deviates from the cisgender, heterosexual norm.

You know me now as Story, but some of you might remember me better as Vampireapologist or Mallaidh-Anne.

I want to thank you all sincerely for the kindness you have shown me, for many years, and especially in this last month. My campaign is 35% funded, more than 1/3, all thanks to you! More than just your donations, I am overwhelmed by your words of support since its launch.

If you haven't seen my prior posts on the topic: I am thrilled to have accepted an offer to attend University College Dublin’s School of Irish, Celtic Studies and Folklore this autumn (2025).

Although I graduated at the top of my class in my undergraduate degree, and I happily earned a small scholarship through community service work in 2022, I cannot afford the cost of attendance on my own. I am therefore turning to my community for support.

I do not ask lightly, and it is only after many months of encouragement and insistence of friends and family that I am taking this step. I have dedicated the last eight years of my life to the study, preservation, interpretation, and presentation of natural resources and cultural heritage.

It's my ambition to continue and expand my work, in service to ecological conservation and community involvement, focused on the intrinsic link between cultural and natural heritage.
